Is this one of those games where there's literally no reason to save any of these dickheads unless you save every single one?
It effects multiple endings.
The whole point of playing a game though is for a challenge/pretending you're the character.
So why would you not want to save every last one?

>So why would you not want to save every last one?
Because it's not exactly obvious where every single one of them is unless you use a walkthrough and if you progress through the game without doing so they kill them.
Is there any way to remove the red green and blue lines on top of my Sony PVM-14M2U? I have the Under Scan button selected so I can see my entire screen.
Stupid iPhone. It rotated the picture as you can see. The lines I was talking about are on the left.

That may just be some extra graphical junk on the outside of the borders that's being displayed by the game console.
Are you playing a genesis game? the genesis is known for this.
Try a different system and see if it's still there.

Service menu = Degauss + enter
VBlank increase until lines are gone. I think Enter to save setting or Reset to go back. Keep note of what settings you have.
Name a better retro game.
Mario Bros.

PROTIP:I can't.
MGS is one of the games responsible for turning modern videogames into barely interactive movies so no.
When I'm hungover I love to play retro games to kill some time until I can sleep again. I had the best experience with ActRaiser, nearly completed it in one sitting on a Sunday. I loved its mixture of some action parts, not too easy, not too hard, but very entertaining and especially its city building episodes wich I sank a lot of time into. It felt so nice and peaceful to see these little cities grow. Can anyone recommend some more games that are similar? Not necessarily the mixture of action and city building, but the mixture of some feeling of action but also peacefulness and accomplishment.

Harvest Moon

Non-retro games that can be pretty peaceful and comfortable
The original Fable on Xbox
Doshin the Giant on Gamecube

Doshin the GIant is /vr/ since it was originally a 64DD game.
Like Animal Crossing which was originally for japanese N64.
Which one is your favorite Might & Magic game?
I still think it's MM6, even though it looks cheesy as fuck sometimes (enemy sprites, character faces)
I just has this real hardcore "classic" fantasy setting that MM7 and MM8 don't really have
1. It's a good take on Wizardry aside from robbers being horrible.
2 is a mess and 3 onward too simplified for me.
>>3287875
I agree with 6 being the best. Might be nostalgia-goggles though... it's the first one i played and got into.
I met Elmore once, had a table right next and hung out most of the day at a slow con with him. Awesome dude. Never played a MM game though...
Looks like the guy that started the Start Ocean translation is still alive http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,22045.msg308838.html
Maybe, if we spam his mailbox he will keep up with the work.
>>3287558
Harassing him will probably have the opposite effect, If I was working on a fan translation and people were giving me shit I'd just cancel it out of spite.
Maybe if I spam you enough you will learn Japanese?
>>3287562
Have worked on this type of shit, can confirm.

Is this the best mod/hack ever of a retro game?
>PAL
>>3287334
What is it?
>>3287502
Huh, that is weird, did they actually modify it or 50hz? that seems like a lot of work for a romhack repo, especially considering that most people buying it this way would be enthusiasts who could probably just play the ntsc version
I recently beat my top 5 games on every main system after two years of playing, so I want to branch out to obscure consoles now.
What are my prospects for owning one of these? What about English games?

>>3286629
what were your top 5 for the master system, genesis (scd/32x too), and saturn?
You guys remember this one?
Wish I didn't.
No, I just learned about this shit.

What's your price limit on buying games?
For me, it's about $140~. Anything above that I just emulate.

NES - $15
SNES, N64, if I had one - $25
Genesis - $20
DOS/Win95 - $30
OS/2 , RISC-OS - $90

I have a really hard time playing through to the ending of RPGs. I've started so many and failed to complete them. I could probably count the number of /vr/ RPGs I've completed on my two hands, and they're mostly pokemon games.
Which RPGs have grabbed your attention enough for you to complete it? Do you have the same problem I do? I was thinking of taking a stab at the first Final Fantasy because I've heard its relatively short, and that would probably help my efforts.
Thoughts?
Final Fantasy is pretty short but there are shorter ones. Chrono Trigger and Panzer Dragoon Saga jump right to mind.

What, specifically, do you find boring about JRPGs? Do you find that the traditional turn-based combat doesn't cut it for you and you need something more? Do you feel like sometimes they focus too much on story without much interesting stuff going on in terms of gameplay? Do the settings bore you?
In my experience, RPGs in general get less and less appealing as you grow older because you neither have the patience nor the free time anymore. I'm on the same boat, tried to fight it and I couldn't so now I just accept I'm getting old.
Which early era 3D games have aged remarkably well? By which I mean, which fully 3D games (no pseudo-3D/2.5D) can be played for the first time in 2016 and be adapted to very easily without having to put on a "this is old, get used to it" mindset?

The music they brought in the NES era are simply orgasmic and literally made me approach videogames as a toddler with that sick shit.
