Hey I remember awhile ago a /vr/ anon put together a really nice, well organized site full of ROMs, what was its name?
theromdepot
last i know it disappeared
>>3316665
underground-gamer.com
>>3316674
Some turbo-autist on /vr/ got pissed off at the guy that made that site for some reason and dogged him in every thread he made. Eventually he hacked or DDOS'd theromdepot not sure which.
So what are the Pros and Cons of Emulation?
Being able to endlessly post bait threads about them on 4chan.
>>3315961
pros: more options with games (savestates, speedup etc)
access to entire library for free
no hookup and space hassle
cons
not all emulators work well
not all games work well on emulators
getting proper controllers can be a hassle
not an authentic experience.

Hi /vr! My NES doesn't work anymore. I managed to find out that it comes from power supply. Do you guys know the value of winding resistance on both side and the wiring schema?
Thanks a lot
>>3315770
What the fuck did you do?
Also, don't wind a new power supply.
Just buy a new one capable of handling the amperage needed.
>>3316725
That's 9v at 1.3 amps, btw.
>>3316725
>winding resistance
I'm guessing he's a non native English speaker who knows maybe a little bit about electrical work and next to nothing about electronics. Winding resistance is something you measure in power transformers, like those big things you see on poles or at substations.
If he's that desperate to save money not buying a $5 replacement PS he could replace the transformer with any old one with similar specs. I can't say exactly what those are because Brazil has a fucked up power system. The guy is no doubt from Brazil based on his language and electronics skills. Also his ability to check the catalog for a mod/repair thread.
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE EARTH CAVE
Have you explored the land mass outside the village at all? There are two caves in the southwest region.
>>3315689
I'm pretty sure I explored the entirety of it, and I only found the cave with the titan.
>>3315682
the map that came with the game clearly marks it
Which is the worst classic-style Resident Evil game: Nemesis or Code Veronica?
Can't we just like them both for their own merits?
It's like you guys sit around all day dreaming up shit threads to start arguments with.
>>3314682
They're both great. Try starting a thread on Genesis music instead.
If you pick Gerudo you have to be female.

This, Zora looks like the most fun.
Does Sonic the Hedgehog look better than Super Mario World?
>>3313779
They have very different art styles. Both look good.
It's got way better parallax. Mario World has some pretty bland backgrounds.
On a technical level I would say yes. Sonic 1 (and especially 2 and 3) not only had more detailed textures, but also psudo 3D effects like the palm trees in the first world. On an artistic level, they are very different and it gets kind of subjective.
PC-98 Thread
>tfw figured out how to install games
Feels good. Made myself a blank hard drive too. Now I just need something to play.
>>3313090
What's so difficult about installing games? It's the same as all other computers. The hardest part might be finding the installer Gainax hid on the second disk.
>>3313128
Well, I had to format a blank hard drive and then figure out how to move the installer and then run it. It was fairly easy but I got stuck because the installer wouldn't let me install because the "floppy discs" I used weren't read only. Now I had no idea how to make them read only until I realized it was as easy as making them read only in the properties menu.
Also, fucking Gainax this is a quiz game at give me at least enough time to read the question.
is tribes dead?
What made you ask that silly question.
Of course it is, spectacularly so!
I still hop in some dead tribes 1 servers once in a while to dick around
>>3312503
unfortunately yes
I want to experience the evolution of the medium firsthand, but I can't find anything like a worldwide and non system specific chronological list of important, influential and worthwhile games. Does such a thing exist, or is the medium too commercially influenced and immature to be subject to such selection and study?
>>3310472
there's probably some academic literature on the subject for college classes? has video game history become a college major yet?
>>3310472
Even a very sketchy and bare list would take a crazy amount of time to play through and drag you through all kinds of stuff you probably wouldn't enjoy, depending on your taste
Unless you grew up on that shit there's no point in revisiting it. Hell if you're a modern developer probably studying gambling is a more worthwhile endeavor.
What shmups are /vr/ playing today?
Ikaruga and Dodonpachi
RECCA on Famicom

Post comfort games. Pic related. One of my favorites.
>>3305187
that thread only specifies NES only
Also, game is Breath of Fire IIII'd recognize that blue, shit-shaped hair anywhere
Also Harvest Moon comfy as fuck
recently Donkey Kong 64 and Skies of Arcadia stood out as super comfy to me
PSX hidden gems thread
Lets see what treasures we can dig up

I think that's just nuts in the poop bro
dumb name but actually a pretty good game
I'm not sure if it was released at the price but I always saw it at the bargain price of $20 on shelves

Baku Baku is a poor mans Puzzle Fighter (exact fucking same gameplay, but with no counter attacks, so whoever throws the most blocks first will win).
It had wicked music though. I still listen to it from time to time. And the PAL disc had a kickass remix bonus track.
Rather than just creating a new /gg/ Gameboy General thread, this thread is trying something a little different. Feel free to discuss vintage handheld consoles in general, including the Nintendo Gameboy family, Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx, WonderSwan, Neo Geo Pocket, etc.
Some discussion of "portablized" systems like the Sega Nomad and Turbo Express is acceptable, but should be focused on the hardware itself rather than the games, since they are portable versions of home consoles which have their own threads.
>>3282212
OP here. I'm fine with it. Just ignore the shitposters.
>>3282214
wats that thing under the gba?

What is the absolute worst retro game you have ever played?
>>3266486
one of those chinese war simulator games.
Like romance of the kindoms or some shit.
Super Mario Bros, inertia in a platformer just fucking sucks, and the arcade game is even worse.
Original Legend of Zelda, but that might be because I never gave Zelda II a chance.
The game is completely unplayable without a guide. The only people who were able to ever play it and put it on a pedestal today are Nintendo Power fags. It was pre-internet era so you had to go out and buy a subscription or a guide to get through that shit and the payoff isn't even worth it.
Whenever someone tells me they were able to get through it without any help at all, that's how I know they're full of shit. Or they've got some weapons grade autism.
I'm not a Zelda/Nintendo hater. I think Link's Awakening is an excellent game and my favorite Zelda. But the original is so fucking unplayable it's amazing people give it so much praise. Go play it yourself without a guide if you don't believe me.
