It's a product of everyone looking for patterns within the currently existing -insert element here-, cherrypicking the fuck out of them, and assuming that because nothing previously broke the pattern, that then means nothing CAN break the pattern. As if Gamefreak sits down, and purposely limits themselves with arbitrary-ass rules for no reason.

What's even more frustrating, is everyone's constantly blown the fuck out with these patterns. So many of them are ignored time and time and time again, yet people still stick to them.
It is literally, actually stupid. People are given information sets, and are simply unable to piece them together.
