Zapdos will probably make a pretty great mixed sweeper. Drill Peck and Thunderbolt.

Also either Golem or Rhydon, they're pretty much the same but I'm going towards Rhydon because he's cooler and I don't know if I can manage to get someone to trade with for Golem

I guess I also want a Fire/Grass/Water core but unfortunely great pokemon like Exeggutor, Starmie and Slowbro are out due to the no psychic-types rule

Well, if psychics are banned, gengar is an even better choice than usual and venusaur loses a weakness. Also lapras is a solid choice as a water type, if you can't use your favorites.

Also, Machamp is less risky to use, and since you're not playing on cart, a weird focus energy set on a fast Pokemon might work.

Paralyze everything, them come in with Wrap Dragonite and Fire Spin Rapidash.

Tauros and Persian are God Tier. Definitely use either Rhydon or Golem so you have an answer to enemy Zapdos since Zapdos is a beast and a half, you might want to consider using it if you can.

Also, Hyper Beam doesn't recharge if it knocked out the enemy pokemon, so spam it all you want. No Psychics makes it tricky, though. Noramlly I'd suggest Starmie or Jynx for whatever you do since they were awesome gen-1 too. Here's a top-quality team.
