Can a Celebi from the 3rd generation or higher be legitimately shiny? I've heard that the Celebi from the Colosseum Bonus Disc can be shiny if it's the Japanese one. Does anyone have a definite answer? Please provide sources.

:^)
>>
I too am wondering this. Is there a list of pokemon that can absolutely not be shiny? Serebii has old incomplete info.
>>
>>24615588
There was a trick to get the Celebi from the bonus disk to be shiny by naming your trainer the same as the event trainer name and getting lucky with your secret id lining up to make it shiny, so it was technically legitimate, but when bank rolled around it wouldn't let any shiny Celebi through. As of yet there is no way to have a legitimate shiny Celebi on a gen 6 game.

Of course, they're doing a lot of shiny events lately, including Jirachi so you might get lucky sometime soon.

So any shiny Celebi will fail to pass Pokemon Bank? Can anyone else confirm this?

That is awesome! It makes me want to buy a Japanese Bonus Disk and a Japanese Colosseum.
>>
>>24615643
As of now, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion.
>>
>>24615750
Doesn't this >>24615726
mean Celebii should also be added to the list since shiny Celebi won't pass the bank?
>>
>>24615750
Why the fuck do they shiny lock these? I don't understand.
>>
>>24615782
Exclusivity shit. It's stupid, but that's how it goes with GameFreak. Just like they shiny locked the Kalos legends and now they're doing some big event to distribute them so they can get people to stay interested and not miss their chance. The older legends I guess they realized were being hacked left and right plus RNG abuse to get shinies, so they might as well unlock them in ORAS, which is really extra stupid since they shiny locked the Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza in-game despite them being previously available as shiny.
>>
>>24615726
I found a few posts online saying that they managed to get a shiny Celebi to pass. Have you tried it yourself?
>>
>>24615750
Not Manaphy ?
>>
Was there a legitimate way to get a shiny Mew?

I have a hacked shiny MSTRY Mew I got from GTS in Platinum a long time ago that passed through PokeBank.
>>
>>24615901
Manaphy can be shiny if the egg is traded to a trainer that has the same SID as the Manaphy Egg's SID.
>>
>>24615912
A Japanese Old Sea Map Mew from Emerald has a chance to be shiny.
>>
>>24615726
>i don't understand how shininess is determined or how shiny locks work

This whole post is complete and utter nonsense.
>>
>>24616084
>I don't know how shininess used to be determined.

Your fucking face is nonsense.

Alright so I :^) one and it doesn't pass. Did I make any basic mistakes? The non-shiny does pass and can be traded.
>>
>>24616149
>shininess in gen 2 is determined by ivs
>shininess in gen 3 and up is determined by comparing the pokémon's pid to its id/sid

Neither one of those methods involves the receiving trainer's name or SID, go suck a fuck.
>>
>>24616207
Interesting. So based on this, because there were no shiny locks before gen 5, there is a possibility one's Celebi could be shiny? Or am I misunderstanding?
>>
>>24615912
MYSTRY mew could be shiny. There was always at least one on the event cart. I own the one that TRU was using for that event, so cough.

Mew could also be shiny in the Emerald event, but only specific frames allowed it, so the "legal" ones are few and far between.
>>
>>24616241
Shiny-locks technically did exist before gen 5, just not on any pokemon that you could catch in the main series games.

Since event pokemon have a fixed TID/SID, shininess depends 100% on the pokemon's PID. But I believe in most cases, the game is programmed to re-roll the PID if it generates one that would make the pokemon shiny.

That's why shit like mew, deoxys, darkrai, and shaymin aren't shiny-locked. Because you could catch them in-game in gen 3 and gen 4, as opposed to getting them handed to you as an event.

>serebii has old incomplete info
Except it doesn't
>>24615750
this is the list
>>
>>24616282
Do you have any proof of Celebi being programmed to reroll if it's shiny? Or a website that talks about it?
>>
>>24616317
I don't, so I'm not sure if it's the case for celebi or not. Some events didn't do that re-roll and were allowed to be shiny.

The colliseum bonus disk Jirachi was like that.
>>
>>24616337
Do you have a link to any Pokemon having it's PID re-rolled?

I always heard that shiny MYSTRY Mew was just a rumor. Anyways, this is the one I got of GTS on Platinum years ago.
