Yes, because the new niche is much more valuable than STAB Poison Jab and a Fairy resist. It traps/beats Gengar (which is huge), with that typing and capability. Not to mention, STAB priority and priority hazards is terrific.

Charizard X, Gyarados, and Altaria would like to keep their previous typing benefits, but ultimately, their Megas provide so many benefits that losing their previous resistances and immunities are a minor issue.

Same with Ariados, I guess. If Fairy-types are problematic, just don't switch into Fairy-types.

Ariados really isn't bad in lower tiers. Good support moves, good offensive movepool.

but its base stats are really fucking low, basically needs a mega, except one that isnt comparable to beedrill's
