How mad will Alan get when he realizes Lysandre is the one that hurt Manon?

This is where I'm sympathetic to Sushi. Why not have Alan try to approach Manon to console her, only to have her tell him off for the way he treated her earlier? Then Alan could have walked off, then we could have seen the scene where he vowed to bring back her smile by saving Hari-san. Would have made for a much more poignant ending.

The episode was fine as is, I just think it might have been better with a better-developed ending.

It's understandable that the characters aren't as developed as the main show which had about 20x more time. With that said, now that establishing the groundwork is done, I hope the show plays with the characters introduced in the specials more.

I think what threw people off is that Alan was still floundering around between being a good guy and being a bad guy. Now that he's gone 200% EDGE, he'll probably be more entertaining as the enemy especially without Manon trying to keep him in check and once he's redeemed, he'll be able to show off more emotion. Lysandre can show off his evil side more openly too while Manon can try and become stronger rather than just follow people.

I'm hoping the first fight between Ash's group and Alan is filled with over the top stuff. Mega Evo ep1 tier special effects. Hopefully Alan makes Bonnie cry.

So, when was the last time we got an episode with as emotionally raw an ending as Act IV? Yeah, we've had XY69 and XY70, but that was just Team Rocket up to its usual shenanigans on a slightly more epic scale and we knew Goodra's release was coming, so I didn't feel anywhere near as moved.

With Act IV on the other hand, I felt heartbroken for Manon and I briefly forgot I was watching the Pokemon anime. I feel like in the Kalos anime series, only XY60 comes close to Act IV in this regard. What do you faggolas think?

Those things don't really do it for me. What really gets my tears going is when someone accepts the really shitty situation they are in, as if giving up, and with a smile. An example of this is Misaka 9982 smiling just before getting crushed by a train by Accelerator.

Another would be a character trying their best not to break down crying, trying to smile all the while. Like the Index confessing to Touma scene back in season 1. Or may be there was something else about that scene, like Index trying to make Touma remember her despite knowing it is not working. I don't know.

It takes a lot to make something dramatic in animated fiction to make me cry.

So i watched the first episode of XYZ and i gotta say that it genuinely is pretty hype. It's such a shame that hype lasted for one single episode and that awful preview for the next episode completely threw me off once more.

Why would they do such a stupid thing? You don't start up promotion on a supposed new series and immediately run a string of stupid looking filler afterwards. You'll scare off anyone who was willing to give your series a chance. I bet that potential series newcomers will drop it right after that. At least XY itself managed to hold my interest for the first dozen episodes or so, but this shit's looking pretty underwhelming real soon.

Do we have any sort of indication as to when this filler shit ends? Once we start getting episodes that are as good as the Opening suggests, then i might pick it up once more.

It was to show that Alan had potential in the first episode despite losing.

I count the times they get knocked down or knocked back as the indication of how well they're doing. Take a look at Steven's fight. It shrugged off a Dragon Claw and Blast Burn. Even Siebold's Blastoise gets knocked down with Dragon Claw and gets knocked back by Flamethrower. Steven's Metagross was knocking Charizard around like crazy in comparison although I guess it's a testament to how tough it is since Charizard didn't get KOd after receiving 2 attacks from the champ.
