Cubic Ninja and browserhax are first level homebrew entry points, meaning you can get with them into homebrew whitout former exploit or hax.
Ironhax and themehax are second level homebrew entry points, meaning you need to get into homebrew beforehand and install this hax so you have this entry point

Not really on the vanilla one, but you can use different launchers that are customizable.

And you also see also choose the target apps like that instead of using the dpad. You can use custom themes with images as well, though if the image is too big it'll take a while between loads.

This one actually keeps the original HBL UI while adding some features. It lets you sort the apps alphabetically by the folder's name instead of apps' names, so you could rename the folder if the app doesn't break with it. You can also favorite apps and there's a toggle button to show only favs or others as well. Supports custom themes but they're just different color schemes.

Both of them support folders as well.

Yup. Replacing boot files is actually safe as long as you have an sdreader to replace them back in case things go wrong. They also start using other folders for their configs, themes and stuff.

I'm not sure if you're understanding what a custom launcher means. It's just the interactable menu that changes, no matter what hax you're using. Imagine boot.3dsx as just an app that lets you launch another apps, which essentially is what it is. You're basically just changing this app into another one.

Unless something breaks when the developer of the launches updates it. I used suloku's launcher until hax 2.5 came out, and at one version the controllers would stop responding after any homebrew app was open. It was actually smea's fault, he accidentally broke ctrulib and suloku would always use the latest one and let it slip. As soon as I reported it he compiled again with an older version of ctrulib until smea fixed it. That's the only "weird" thing that ever happens. But if you feel uncomfortable with a launcher at any point, you just replace boot.3dsx back and you have the old launcher again.

normal 3ds doesn't have enough ram to run GBA emulaters well. New has more ram than old though, and can do it mostly fine.

It wouldn't be completely unplayable for something turn based, if you just had to play it, but anything real time would be.
So best left for things like pokemon or fire emblem, and leave metroid fusion and minish cap alone.

Don't know if this is the right place for it, but I want to transfer my Pokemon from FR/LG up to ORAS. The hitch here is that I don't own Black/White 1 or 2, and have no intention of buying them.

Can I transfer my Pokemon from FR/LG, to D/P/P to HG/SS to a Black/White ROM, use something like PokeGen to dump my PC boxes to .pkm or whatever, then inject them into my OR/AS save with PKHeX?

Nah mang, I like my PokeBro's, and there are too many of them to create them all from scratch. It seems that PokeGen has an option to dump D/P/P/HG/SS/B/W PC boxes to .pkm files, which I know PKHeX supports, so I'll give that a try.
