The type itself isn't the issue. The individual pokemon are typically lacking, and when you see them have proper build they tend to excel.

Plus, while they're not OU, Cofagrigus, Trevanent and Chandelure are OU viable.

Give regular non-legendary Ghost-types better attacks. Shadow Ball and Shadow Claw are decent, but not worth writing about compared to commonly-seen attacks like Fire Blast or Ice Beam.

Oh, and make a region that's saturated with Ghost-types, I guess, like Hoenn with Water.

Also, Bug-types have a variety of roles (Quiver Dance, Phys Attacker, Swords Dance, defensive) other than the generic "defensive burn spreader" or "special attacker" that Ghost-types tend to get stuck into.

But they aren't. Look at usage stats. A Pokemon like Hawlucha (BL) literally gets less uasge than many UU and under 'mons, such as Amoongus or Politoed. There are of course good 'mons in BL, like Volcarona, but not all of them are " pretty much on par".

Not completely, but they do correlate. If it's gud, people will use it. If it isn't, they won't. This only doesn't really apply to Megas because of the limit, but most everything else does.

the reason we don't have ghost types is because Knock Off is 50% of the metagame.
