It's in my top ten favourite pokemon, definitely. Don't like the mega, though. Why the gotta make the X a different colour and make it all weird? The original design was perfect.
Found it quite useful competitively, actually, despite the unfortunate acquisition of a dark and ghost weakness

my Heart is bleeding... Metagross is so damn useless in OU, it will ever be my favorite Pokemon...I hope so much for Mega Metagross X/Y or something like this....

Seriously where the fuck did that shit come from. Literally everywhere else I've been has been praising it. Tough Claws boosted 145 Atk, with amazing defensive stats, a shit ton of resists for switch-ins, crucial 110 Spd and coverage in Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Rock Slide/Stone Edge, Meteor Mash, Zen headbutt, EQ and Brick Break/Hammer Arm. That's fucking amazing.

The only real issue is reasonably has is 4mss, so it'll require team mates.

A well balanced team can support it and let it shine. My current ou team has like 3-4 uu mons, metagross included, and I do fairly well.

First of all, Metagross doesn't even get Stone Edge, and even if it had it it's not a contact move.

The elemental punches, which are the only coverage moves worth a shit are weak even with the TC boost, Zen Headbutt and Meteor Mash are innacurate, weak and have shit coverage, Hammer Arm is shit because it drops your speed, aka the one stat that got a +40 boost in the first place.

The "amazing bulk" it's actually pretty subpar thanks to it's common weaknesses, if steel hadn't gotten a defensive nerf this generation it would have been fine, but no.

It didn't need 150 defense to begin with, or 105 special attack, 80 HP/160 Atk/140 Def/100 SpA/110/SpDef/110 Spe is a much better spread, if shit like Gengar and Gallade can have optimal spreads why not Metagross too?

Because gamefreak hates this pseudo, what with the nerfed signature move, shitty movepool by pseudo standards, worthless hidden ability and underwhelming mega evolution, enjoy that event Salamence with Extreme Speed while Metagross doesn't get Shift Gear.

You're clearly not understanding the role M-Gross is meant to serve and getting butt blasted about no understanding.

He's not supposed to be a sweeper that OHKOs the entire metagame. That shit would be broken. So yes, it's bulk is amazing as it's meant to be used to switch in. It has common weaknesses, but it also has a shit ton of common resists. This is the same reason Steel/Fighting was such a sought after typing back in 4th gen-- it had common weaknesses, but it's huge amount of resists allowed for easy switch ins. M-Gross' speed is key to that. It's defense allows it to even survive SE attacks, by the way. So yes. It's defense is fucking amazing when considering its role.

Ice Punch is weak with it's base power, sure, but you're using Ice as a coverage move, in which most things you'll be hitting are 4x weak to it. Ice doesn't need that huge strength.
Zen Headbutt and Meteor Mash have 90 accuracy. That's hardly innacurate. Also the coverage of those two alone aren't great, but it can hit any type in the game with its supporting moves.

M-Gross is meant to punch holes through teams. It does this through customizable coverage along with insane speed and bulk, allowing it to effectively 2HKO a huge range of threats. If you can't figure out how to make it work with the shit ton of tools and coverage options it has available, then this is a serious case of git gud.

Reminder that /vp/'s shitty competitive mindset is literally the only place that isn't praising M-Metagross.

The EV's will likely evolve with the meta, but your standard 252Atk/252Spd/4Hp is what I believe most are running right now.

You'll see more variations of this in the future. I don't have access to the calcs atm, but I believe with a little def investment M-Gross can survive Mamo EQ's even after Rocks.

M-Gross will be the type of pokemon that has a shit ton of micro spreads both moveset and EV spread wise because of it's malleability.

I was actually considering a more tanky set. Tentacruel has 100 speed but people tend to pour into its defenses more anyways.

Spend $20 on a powersaves. Powersave's alter your trainer ID if you makr a pokemon shiny so as long as you yourself found it shiny then you can alter it's stats without feeling like you'recheating.

Seriously, it takes a lot of work and luck to end up with a shiny, well IV'd, hidden nature, egg move pokemon that is legit. Of course nobody would want Metagross' shitty HA. My point is to find the shinies legitimately then bypass the tedium.

The X is blue on the shiny because the X is gold on the reg. For both normal and mega Metagross, the shiny form has silver replace blue, blue replace gold, and gold replace silver.
