I think it's a good cover of the series. You have four (five counting future DLC) popular Pokémon everyone knows from the anime, and one "weird" character to shake things up in the form of Greninja.

Would I prefer Lucario or Jigglypuff to be replaced with, say, something like Golurk or Roserade? Yeah, but Smash is supposed to be a fighting ground for popular characters, and no one knows those guys outside of Poke-fans.

I use Pikachu for fun, but main ROB. I honestly couldn't care much for the others. Lucario, Jiggs, and potentially Mewtwo are all just okay, Charizard gets punished so often, and Naru Toad just makes me feel uncomfortable with the way it looks. I don't know, I never liked it's design much, myself.

Lucario's Aura actually feels more powerful in this game when in Brawl it was negligible. His animations are a little less stiff too and at high percent your game becomes high risk high reward with the moves you land.

Jigglypuff is the only one that really bugs me.
I mean pikachu is really all that's needed but I can see why charizard is in since it's arguably the single most popular Pokemon. Lucario also has a pretty large following and I think a movie or two to it's name. Mewtwo is more deserving a slot as a rep as ever with it's own new movie and two new Mega's for it this gen. It would have been criminal to bring back dr Mario but not Mewtwo now. Greninja serves as possibly the most popular starter to the new gen of Pokemon so for Sm4sh, I can understand it's inclusion... Though we'll have to see if it stays deserving for next gen Smash and I'm honestly not sure it will.
Jiggly has nothing other than being one of the first 12 in smash. She's dated as a rep to Pokemon and should have been gone come Brawl honestly.

Again, if anything I'd just have Pikachu, fuck flavors of the gen. Just use the mascot and make any other mon a pokeball.

If I HAD to have multiple reps for Pokemon, I'd probably have one Pokemon per gen with 4 gens represented tops

I think Pokemon's representation in Smash is close to perfect. This is extremely nit picky, but I think Jigglypuff is what breaks that.

She's earned her place in Smash by being there from the start. I think her inclusion made sense at the time considering she was easy enough to make. Part of me wants her cut and replaced with a Pokemon more iconic, like Meowth for example. I think he was robbed of a spot on the roster. It is what is it though.

I wish I enjoyed playing any of the Pokemon. They have the best victory theme in my opinion.
