Out of concern that this line of questioning may become legitimately objectionable at some point in the future, I think Game Freak should just change the messaging to "Which character are you?" and avoid bending to any kind of agenda.

Why'd it have to be Ash that came out and talked to Serena at night?

More so than Unovabortions. Gen 5 was so different in design from the rest of the series that it can barely be considered a Pokemon game. The music, story, designs and characters just felt as if they were from some generic JRPG rather than a Pokemon game.

Pineco belongs with Quilfish, Spinarak, and Mantine on the ''Extremely forgettable Gen 2 Pokemon that were sort of just added to fill space'' pedestal.

I was doing a randomized run of Emerald and using only Johtomons. It's been really fun so far. I caught a Pineco and really wanted to use it, but holy shit look at that Gen 3 level up moveset.

Eh, nice ideas, but ruined with minor details.
Specifically, the weird, rubbery veins stretched across their body. I don't want to know what touching one feels like, but I'm sure it'd be horrible. And they are definately meant to be veins (probably to show tensing muscles and imply strength)

Plus, Conceldurr's nose looks fucking dumb. Pic related

About time!

As an avid Machamp fan, I've been looking for a counterpart that could present some challenge or could be considered as a same tier/category as my main man.

Hariyama disappointed me and Gen 4 gave nothing but dual-typed fighting types (dont have anything against them but I really like monofight types).

I initially hated the line because they had an outright better stat distro and abilities but I could not deny their power so I respected Conkeldurr for that. I used one in my White run and I was satisfied.

My interest died a bit but fast forward to Y and I caught a shiny Gurdurr. I trained it to become a Conkeldurr and now sits beside Machamp as my top favorites.

People hate them because they're ugly. No shit sherlock. News flash: not all pokemon are meant to be cute or elegant. Some are meant to look menacing and capable of fucking you up and they could and their smirk is an indicatoon they know it.

As smogon puts it:

Machamp has been a force in the ring throughout all the previous generations, although its first shot at the big time was in GSC. Once Psychics got lowered from their peak and Fighters got their chops, Machamp's strengths became clear. Conkeldurr marks the first real contender to Machamp's throne. And those so-called legends? Fuhgettabout it. None of them has the courage to challenge either in a direct confrontation.

It's because most areas will only have like 5 or 6 mons because of it. All the unique mons will be locked to certain towns and areas. Plus it all but guarantees there holding newer mons back for drip feed "content updates" which is just shitty and ensures just like ingress there will be no new content, just new mons.

Because it would be really boring. There are hundreds of great Pokemon, and it would be a shame if we were restricted to only a small portion of them.

My guess is it'll be Gen I only at launch, with new generations added every few months, as a way to keep players engaged after the initial launch period. That would be an okay way to handle it.

Because it makes us afraid that casual gamers will praise them for that, that GO will be a success and that the TPC suits will from then on and forever make all their business decision with their tastes and capturing their volatile attention in mind, instead of caring about those who have stuck with the series for 20 years.

The thing is if they'd just released it as an ingress skin it would have done well, but the time has passed and the hype and playerbase for ingress has moved on. I also don't see many people playing this to begin with because I can't imagine the playerbase for pokemon games would enjoy not having their favorite mons because they don't live in the right area.

But who knows, it's pokemon so it will immediately score a couple million downloads. I just hope there's some way to Plat that doesn't involve walking around a small area then waiting hours for shit to regenerate like ingress.
