As the title suggests, here's why I think these "leaked" starters might be real:

>They fit with the possible circus theme
The knife-thrower (with an assassin motif), the clown (with an emphasis on the creepy clown side), the human cannonball.

>They fit with the (plz no hate) established starter motifs
The owl has long, thin legs; stilt owls (Grallistrix) were a now-extinct genus of owls who lived in Hawai'i. The cat is a tiger. The sea lion... well, I personally can't see a link between all the Water starters other than that none of their basises are fully aquatic, but some people see a weaponry motif. I kinda see it, but to see if this Killer Klown from the deep sea really fits this, we'd have to see what it plans to do with that bubble.

Now for rebuttals:

X and Y had a literal death god and an evil team who wanted to kill everyone else. Pokémon seems to be drifting towards the serious. Also, they'll probably add some flavor text making them nicer than they seem- the owl will probably use its razor-sharp feathers to protect its Trainer or something.

See, the thing with this age-old argument is... it's right. Foxes aren't dogs. Hedgehogs/echidnas/whatever the fuck Typhlosion's supposed to be aren't rats. But, for the purposes of the chinese zodiac motif... they're close enough. Now, if EVERY Fire starter was so loose with the zodiac connection, I'd doubt it too. But since 5/7 (I'm counting Litten because it has the exact cartoon tiger forehead markings as every tiger in Japanese media) of the Fire starters DO fit in the pattern, the fact that the remaining two sort of fit is unlikely to be a coincidence.

Also, I decided to give them names.
>Grass: Wingmaster or Grassistrix
>Water: Buffloon
>Fire: Panthermal (not mine, but couldn't think of a better one)

In-Game evidence to support the map:

>Kalos native aquatic wildlife and Hoenn native aquatic wildlife share more qualities than with any other Regions. This with the fact that we know Hoenn to lie south west of Kanto and Johto positions Hoenn fairly beneath Kalos.
>Unova north east of Kanto due to sharing the closest native wildlife. Also east of Sinnoh due to Cave of Origin being connected to Sinnoh. Again, topography is also put into account.
>This puts Kanto, Johto, Kalos, and Sinnoh as connected by land.
>And despite being claimed in game as far away regions, this doesn't suggest the fact that they're at all different landmasses entirely. Occam's Razor and the facts presented all suggest pic related being the most likely accurate representation of the regions.

How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:
>complete all Trainer Challenges (Cheat Engine's speedhack strongly recommended to speed up AI games)
>play through using Basic decks to unlock them for versus play
>farm Versus Mode theme ladder for Tokens and Tournament Tickets
>Enter Theme format tournaments whenever possible
>enter Standard/Expanded ticket tournaments and accept that you'll lose
>you'll get tradable tournament chests and sometimes tradable packs
>DON'T OPEN THEM
>Instead, trade them for the cards you actually want for a deck you want to build, most cards go for like 1-3 packs each.
