Seeing as the 3D overworld has been upgraded from those chibi models they used in XY, and the trainers now are the same size both in and out of battle, I think it's actually quite safe to assume we might get it some time in the near future. Maybe not Gen 8, but certainly before Gen 10. All they have to do is give the battle models walking animations.

I honestly can't think of a single significant thing Gen 2 did wrong. It's not even my favorite gen, but it's the only one that just added things to the previous gen without removing anything. That's not counting Gen 1 for obvious reasons, but Gen 2 also had the advantage of not being a complete glitchy mess.

I guess some can say the butchered version of Kanto in Gen 2 was a flaw, but I really don't think giving two entire regions to explore is something bad, even if one of them is not "complete".

When I went to my friend's house, his lake nearby gave me 2 more Omanyte (on the map anyways), Staryu, and Goldeen. So I don't think location is as important as people think. Fossils are still rare as shit, so good luck evolving it, senpai.

I've noticed an abundance of water-types like Goldeen and Staryu at the beach, and I can't find them at all near home in the suburbs where there are many humanshapes like Drowzee and Jynx
