Iffy about Mega Machamp because he has to seriously be so fucking good to even compete with JUST the fighting type megas (and this is not even discussing how the aesthetics have to actually be great)

One day (assumedly when hell freezes over), Game Freak decides that they finally wish to update their image, and that they will start by changing the mascot to a new one for the new age of Pokemon itself. This means that Pikachu is going to be eating shit here as a new face of Pokemon takes its place. They end up asking their fans who they want to have as the new mascot of Pokemon, and most pokemon are open to be suggested.
However, there are a few key factors they consider more important than any other in terms of this new mascot:
>it must have a design capable of being used for all forms of marketing
>it must be something that can appeal to both adults, kids and veterans of the series
>it must be something that truly fits what pokemon is like at its core
With that all said, what one pokemon would you suggest then to Game Freak to be the new mascot of Pokemon, and the one that will appear both everywhere in the series/merchandising, and also be the new major Ashmon forever more?

1. Online ladders that aren't shit. 3v3 and 6v6 singles, 4v4 doubles. Mega stones should be banned from ranked play just like box legends and soul dew. I don't want smogon rules but fuck man, megas basically ruined the fun of playing online in XY.

3. PWT, that was a great fucking idea and I have no idea why they ditched it. Bring back all of the old gym leaders and E4.
4. Battle factory. Most of the frontier in Emerald was shit but the battle factory was the coolest fucking facility. They should add that with a mulitplayer option as well.
5. Do secret bases but not like in ORAS, instead they should be quasi-instanced like those islands in ORAS, it'd be like your own private island that you could design, then you could design a gym there, recruit NPC trainers to fight with pokemon you gift to them there, the pokemon would level up and evolve over time, and the trainers would get xp as well to let them hold more pokemon. Your 'leader' NPC would fight with your battle box pokemon.
So are you neckbeards going outside more often now that you have an excuse to be seen in public?

I'm curious less about the Pokémon you exclude because of arbitrary bigotry (Alakazam and Metagross would basically be good calculators, meanwhile IRL frats don't need Psychic Pokémon to cheat on exams, so what does keeping them off-campus do to help ensure honesty? Also, that requires there to be a distance limit for telepathy, otherwise off-campus doesn't matter.) and more about what use would an "acceptable" Pokémon be? What does Skitty do to aid your studies? Are you going to dissect your Politoed in bio lab? If it's just pets on campus because It's A Pokémon World, I figure they'd be kept in balls most of the time, particularly in dormitories and common areas. So really you're asking which Pokémon could you get away with letting roam when your RA isn't scoping.
