Because it was the first generation some of them played (since the average age is about 16 of Unova lovers is about 16) and the rest are just contrarians.
Gen 5 isn't bad but despite owning Black, White and Black 2- I've only finished Black and I've completed pretty much all the games in all the Generations since 3 (I only played Yellow and Silver in 1&2). There are some very poor Pokemon designs (as there are in every Generation but it feels like there are more in Unova) like Garbordor, Vannilish and Klink, the starters are lacklustre, Unova is just a big oval and the towns are pretty bland.

Fuck off. Many people who started with Gen 1 like Gen 5 because it was a completely new experience--the first time we felt like doing an adventure into an unknown region with foreign creatures.

Eterna city due to its chill out and friendly atmosphere, with amity park just being around the corner. I love the architecture of the buildings, they remind me of old french apartments, and the brown brick roads just blend with the pallet really well.

So if anybody has noticed, the reveal/leaks of pokemon has been within a week or two within each other since we hit June.
>6/11 - Rockruff and Komala found in Corocoro
>6/14 - Yungoos, Pikipek and Grubbin reveaed @ E3
>6/29 - Drampa, Togedemaru, Charjabug, Vikavolt, Bruxish, Cutiefly and Tapu Koko leaked on Youtube
>7/7 - Salandit revealed in video
>7/12 - Bewear and Mimikyu found in Corocoro
>7/19 - Mudsdale, Wimpod, Comfey, and Bounsweet revealed in video
Which means with the amount of leaks/reveals we've been having, there must be A LOT of pokemon in this gen AND we're about due for one soon which makes the news coming Aug. 1st more worthy of looking forward to.
Honestly, since they mentioned a tour of one of the islands, I'd expect maybe a few new pokemon that are native to this island. Maybe a teaser at the end that hints to the starter 2nd stage evo's?
Which ties in next months Corocoro which would likely highlight over the 2nd stages of the starters?
