Part of why Gen 1 and the remakes were good is that it felt like you were just a normal person rather than a hero with all the mystical magical stuff of the later games. It helped with the suspension of disbelief.

Story is one part of the equation.
At times, pokemon collecting without substance bore me to death.
For example XY. It had everything for pokemon capturing. Big region with multiple pokedex index and well design map. The story of XY was okayyy, but NO PERSONALITY. I had more fun in the Looker-arc than the ingame "press a to proceed" gameplay.

But anyway, doubles is easiest.

I used Greninja, M-Blaziken, Rotom-W, and Garchomp.

Greninja has Lum Berry, Mat Block, and three attacks. Use Mat Block to protect M-Blaziken on turn one, M-Blaziken Rock Slides opposing team. Should put both opponents into KO range next turn. If everything goes perfectly, then you start 4-2.

If Greninja's going to be outsped, use Protect while M-Blaziken gets a speed boost on the first turn. Lum Berry is to protect from status that isn't Mat Blocked. If out speeding Pokémon threatens Greninja, you can switch out for Rotom-W or Garchomp.

Rotom-W and Garchomp pair well because Garchomp is immune to Discharge and Rotom-W is immune to Earthquake. Rotom should be Sitrus for doubles. Garchomp I used Life Orb.

That was the logic behind my team. It took one try to get to 50 wins.

I'm not really sold on the idea of split starter evolutioms.

It's not out of the realm of possibility, nor am I really against it. It just seems like an unnecessary upgrade to an unbroken system.

I'm not in denial. I WANT them to be real. Rowlet3 would be one of my Top Five Favorites if it's even remotely competent in battle. The presence of Mallow in the art is promising, but I'm afraid that the leaker used some inside info to bolster the credibility of their fakes.

I don't want to fall in love with the archer owl and get used to the rest of the trio only to be bamboozled!
