There's always complaints about the models that GF fucked up, (hippodown, typhlosion, etc), but why don't people ever talked about the ones they did well?

Can we all just take a second here to consider something?
A lot of people seem to want S/M to have a full 150+ roster of new pokes, yet here I am wanting the opposite. I'd be perfectly happy with FEWER new mons every gen, and here's why:
1) There are already 700+ mons. Keeping track of all of them in my head is getting hard, and barring a few notable examples, I could hardly name any of the pokemon from 5th or 6th gen.
2) In keeping with the above, from a gameplay balance perspective, each gen adds a bit of power creep. Gamefreak spends a LOT of time making sure the balance of the pokemon in a new gen is up to par. But to do that, they end up neglecting older gens, sometimes throwing out a boost to BSTs, or at best, Megas or Hidden abilities to bring the old pokemon up to the new standard. Older pokemon more or less wind up forgotten unless something crazy happens to boost their potential. Stacking on 100 new pokemon every gen just compounds the problem.
3) Gameplay gimmicks. They don't necessarily add any value to a pokemon. When was the last time you seriously used Chatot's signature move, or hell, Chatot at all? What about Smeargle? Outside of breeding, probably not. You take those gimmicks away, and those pokemon become completely unforgettable.
4)Can we please just cut out the forms bullshit? It was a cool gimmick back when it was limited to Deoxys and Castform, but Megas just make no sense to me. Why go through all that effort to rebalance a pokemon, and make it only TEMPORARY? At least Gen 4 made a decent effort at it, adding new evolutions to old pokemon, and 5th gen was fucking brilliant with the addition of Hidden Abilities.

Anybody else conflicted about the new starter evolutions leak based on who you decided to choose from the start?
I feel Robinhoot and Tiger Mask are great, but I can't help but feel conflicted of Poppmaid being too girly for 2 genders.
I want to stick with my original choice of Popplio but it bothers me, unless a Male can Atleast look slightly less feminine as a performer
