Is that was this game is? Just throwing really powerful cards out one after another? Is there any reason to use things that have multiple stages or ~100 HP? It seems like instead of through the trouble of evolving a Pokemon, I should just stack powerful single stages mons like Khangaskan or Hoopah or something.

Beatdown decks are very popular but I think after Burning Shadows it's really gonna change. There are alternative win conditions.

Multiple stage pokemon are great but you need acceleration like rare candies or forest of giant plants for grass types. Pokemon around 100hp are usually support/have nice effects. Garbodor is an example of a really good 120hp card

Here's my list. It's not top tier but it does really good. Basically you give up prizes early but set up board state via Meloetta to enable 1 hit KO with Gengar. You punish them for taking prizes by using Ace Trainer reducing them to 3 cards for most of the game until you are ready to start taking prizes with Gengar. Generally what happens is the opponent has plenty of EX/GX cards and I end up trading gengars 1 for 1 with the GXs winning me the game.

do I seriously need to bother with IVs if I want to ever beat any of the battle facilities in the games?
I just want to beat the battle tower/maison/tree master whatever, get that sweet trainer card upgrade and move on
but christ I can never even reach the guy even with EV trained mons I got straight out of a smogon guide
am I just unlucky or are perfect IVs mandatory?
