I can't believe they actually made black people pokemon
I'm a bit worried that older Pokemon wont be getting much help outside Form changes and Z-Moves.
Like, a lot of these abilities and moves look really good, but so many of them seem exclusive to the new Pokemon, so it will be more about making the new stuff great while irrelevant mons will remain irrelevant.
Especially since every exclusive Z-Move and Alola Form so far is related to Gen 1 Pokemon. I am also hoping for some more substantial stat increases in some mons compared to last Gen, but I dont even know if I should expect that.
>>28674740
I personally think a lot of pokemon need an update to their stats and/or abilities. Especially pokemon from gen 1-3 which were introduced before the physical/special split.
Just take a look at Hoenn pokemon's stats. There are way too many of them with low speed and more or less equal atk and sp.atk, probably because how moves worked differently back then.
Also, gen 2 mons probably have the blandest, weakest stat distribution of all, probably as they were still trying to balance things around the new Sp.Atk/Sp.Def split. Many Kanto pokemon suffered from this as well (although some became a lot less broken, like chansey, gengar and mewtwo).
If you take a look at newer pokemon's stats, rarely they have a stat distribution that is as awkward or as even as the pokemon from the three first generations. Even shitmons usually clearly specialize in one stat. (Although you still have cases like Pyroar, a pokemon with a respectable Special movepool and an ability that benefits its attack stat only, or Gourgeist, a pokémon with a great special movepool and an awful Sp.Atk stat).
GF kinda tried to fix some pokemon in gen 6, but adding a mere 10 points boost to one stat was hardly helpful for most if not all of them. The only stat in which that would make a really noticeably difference would be speed. I don't remember if anyone got a speed boost, though.
>>28675410
Pidgeot got a Speed boost. Also Azumarill got a SA increase, oddly.
And yeah, stat distributions were a lot more different back then. A lot more equal low stats rather than any sot of min maxing.
I dont know if GF is afraid to notably give better stats or abilities to many older mons, but I mean Pikachu got a 20 point increase.
I just dont know why they want to tier increased viability almost exclusively to a weird item like Mega Stones or Z-Moves, while more conventional things like moves and abilities can work too. Scolipede got real good with it's new HA, and Azumarill would be fairly uninteresting without it's Huge Power.
Which is why all these cool new abilities leave me a bit sad as most may end up not going to mons that need them.
You could easily argue that things like Megas were entirely unneeded considering the same things could have been done simply by adjusting stats and retconning abilities and types.
GF are massive continuityfags though so retcons like that are few and far between and when they are there they're exceedingly minor.

How would you fix Bug and Ice types without making them insanely broke?
For me.
>Ice
>Loses Weakness to fighting
>Resists Water
>Bug
>Loses weakness to Rock
>Resists Fairy
>Hits Fairy for neutral
Could only make 1 lose the rock weakness without Rock turning to shit, because there's so many x4 weak bugs they need to lose the rock weakness the most.
Just change the relationship with bug and fairy. then bug is fine.
As for ice, I dunno. It needs a lot though. I'm tempted to say they should just get rid of the rock weakness. Having a fighting weakness is bad enough anyways. Rock is used more offensively than water so I think that would be a better buff. Plus it would help ice types deal with sneaky pebbles.
I also think they should add an ice type with an ability that inverts its weaknesses and resistance. :^)
