There's no way in hell Nintendo won't put out their most dependable franchise on a console they desperately need to succeed. Not to mention that 3DS will cease production after NX comes out. PLUS, saying a console needs to sell well before you put games on it is completely ass-backwards. They'll put Pokemon on it to ensure it does sell.

Gamefreak made it clear they're done with cross-gen evos. Fine, they don't have to even give Solrock and Lunatone a buff or anything. Just put them in the dex as a "haha, we already did sun and moon based Pokemon, how cute!" and be done with it.

I personally do not believe UB2-Absobtion is Gladion because he owns Type: Null. Type: Null and it's evolution was created to oppose a threat. Though not directly stated, I believe this threat are Ultra Beasts. Gladion is not an Ultra Beast, he wants to purge the world of Ultra Beasts.
My guess to who UB2-Absorbtion really is is Faba. Faba's glasses make his eyes look bug like, which is what UB2 looks like. He also has a distinctly pointy nose, which could become UB2's long sharp nose. His scrawny human appearance could be a cover up for his true strength.
