Anyone hope this thing is just a single-stage bird that just happens to be next to Pikipek2 in the dex? 2-stage regional birds have been a thing before.
I mean, I'm just saying, I would have LOVED a toucanmon, and I loved when it looked like one was coming when we saw a toucan on that one trainer customization shirt, but... a toucan connected to Pikipek? As *the* regional bird? Whatever happened to the gens where we'd get multiple bird lines like Pidgey/Spearow or Tailow/Wingull? I'd have preferred a hypothetical toucanmon to just be a more uncommon bird that you'd have to go out of your way to get like Farfetch'd or Chatot.
And before you go BUT PICIDAES or BUT OCTILLERY, yes yes I get it, it makes sense in theory or "it's been done before" but that doesn't make it any less hard to swallow. Plus, going by the picidae argument, it's okay for Shinx to evolve into Mightyena and then into Ursaring, same order right!
The low Alolamon count is also a detractor. Back when the toucan was hinted at, it gave a feeling of like "Oh wow, cool! A whole toucan line is on the way!" and then the game releases and it's like.. nope, the toucan is connected to the only real bird line in Alola . . .
