Because they only redesign characters when it's necessary, aka- when they have any kind of personal relevance to something.

Red and Blue have actual roles in Sun & Moon and we battle them outside of the Battle Tree; redesign warranted.

Cynthia and Wally are Battle Tree exclusive and are only there for the sake of being rematched as with probably a hundred others; redesign not warranted.

Actually, I think it will be a great offensive pokemon. Grassy Terrain Stab Choice Band Wood Hammer would ruin lives.

This is assuming it has 120 base attack which seems kind of reasonable. It will make a great answer to most of the ground types in OU, especially since Grassy Terrain weakens Earthquake, letting it switch in on Landorus-T, Garchomp, etc. Lando-T might even start running Sludge Wave as tech for this thing. Defensively I'm less sure of how good it will be. Grassy Terrain gives it extra healing but it does the same to the opponent, and it has to compete with other grass types like Ferrothorn who has less weaknesses and more utility, Mega Venusaur who will probably be bulkier, Amoonguss who is a better pivot, etc. As a Grass/Fairy type, it presumably gets competition from Whimsicott and Morelull's evolution too. I think offensively it will shine and be able to distinguish itself, though.

This thing may see some niche use now. Base defense is garbage and even with Grass Pelt it doesn't break 100. However, the Ground-type resistance paired with nerfed EQ and base 100 attack might make it an interesting revenge killer in situations where Grassy Terrain is active.

It gets moves like Wild Charge, Retaliate, and Horn Leech. Does that help?

Max defense is 254 so with Grass Pelt it would be in Tangrowth's max range. That assumes Gogoat has max defense, however. Also, why run two grass types on the same team?

Nothing is confirmed. Several of Ash's Pokemon have been distributed to the games before. An extra bonus as a nod to the anime doesn't automatically make it canon, especially when the word of God is that the anime and games take place in separate continuities.

Would say Fighting. Save for the musketeers, they're all bipedal/humanoid.

Of course, since the type is themed around martial arts (human fighting techniques), they kind of have to be in order to punch and kick effectively.
