How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:
>complete all Trainer Challenges for loadsa packs to kickstart your collection
>play through using basic decks to unlock them for versus play
>grind prizes/coins on Versus Mode theme ladder
>enter theme format tournaments whenever possible using coins
>using your winnings from the last two steps, enter ticket tournaments. You'll get tradable shit from those
>trade packs/chests for the cards in a deck you actually want to build
>don't open packs before you have a solid deck, YOU EARNED THOSE, DON'T WASTE THEM ON SOME SHITTY HOLO RARE AND 9X KRABBY
>public trade is like the GTS, if you want proper results, put up your own offers

A few years ago, when I was writing out a singleplayer Elder Scrolls RP, there came a point at the end of a pivotal chapter where it was the final night my character was to stay in the city. The overarching plot was a personal goal, so the only conflicts were fitting in the activities she needed to perform while still having enough time to sleep for the next day, as the last night she had gotten next to none. At the time I was tired myself, so I thought that my empathy would help me write the character's emotions as they tried to learn how to cast a light spell they barely could spark just in case night fell along their journey.
As it turns out, being too tired makes you very unwilling. I ended up cutting the chapter short to go to bed by basically having the character do the same, throwing their book across the room in frustration and collapsing into fur sheets. This act of sloth on my part actually ended up interacting with the story later on, where she was caught in the blizzard I was trying to have her prepare for and couldn't see shit, thus changing what happened altogether and introducing another character spontaneously. I wouldn't pull this kind of shit now, I get easily anxious whenever I'm not writing or haven't written enough, but it was interesting to see how a real life decision could influence my story in parallel.

Why do companies even delay release when they already have all of the stock manufactured? Makes no sense, I'd kind of get to hype it up, but S/M has already been hyped to as much as it ever will be. Sure, they need time to set up servers or whatnot, but when it's a game that's going to be using the same backend as it's been using for years straight, there's no real reason
It's even more ridiculous that they're digitally delivering games and putting locks on them.
Why don't more companies do it like Apple and release their shit immediately after the big announcement?

Having a marketing cycle means having an announcement a significant amount of time before launch, which means projecting a release date or window, which means eventually choosing a specific date you are comfortable telling people 'this will be completely finished in all aspects, manufactured, and shipped out all over the entire fucking earth.' That's a lot of stuff. Apple can do it because they have a large enough volume of customers who are 100% guaranteed to completely ignore any competition they have, and their profits on their devices are so high.
