Gamefreak likes to put pointless types onto some Pokemon so that we can have muh all type combinations fullfilled at some point. But most of the time they are just fucking high while designing stuff and just hit their keyboard until they get some type and random stats for the mon.

GF has multiple people with different goals working on the typings
one of them tries to make decent combinations, which either become good pokemon or get shafted by shitty stats
a couple of them try to integrate typing with lore or the concept of the pokemon
a considerable number of them just think of marketing purpouses or dex type balancing
most of them just do puns.
and keep in mind, if I'm not mistaken, the designer often don't get to choose the typing of their pokemon (see frillish and its evo)

There are too many 120 BP STABs. Fairy didn't do shit besides adding even more cancer to a cancer infested body. We're at a point where gen 3 Kyogre seems weak. Ridiculous.

If Special Moves received a nerf on the BP then why not do the same with Physical Moves? It was very strange that Groudon and Kyogre got Precipice Blades and Origin Pulse but one had 120 BP while the other one had 110 BP.

You depend on your opponent, so 90% of the time it isn't a good idea. Relying on your enemy to even use a move adds a whole nother layer of play that is needlessly annoying and not rewarding.
