It's design would be cool if it weren't for the color scheme. That or the awkward posing, some of the Chestnaught fanart i've seen that takes liberties with these two aspects actually manages to make it look pretty good.

Celesteela is so fucking heavy that even after Autotomize, Heavy Slam still does max damage against most targets

Well, Smogonites use Autotomize and Heavy Slam, too. The weight difference from using it doesn't effect the damage rolls.

Tropical Breeze: auto-tailwind
Could be cool. I think it'd still end up as a pelipper, where it still fucking sucks on its own but people use it for its auto field condition setting ability. I'd be happy with that.

Regardless though, they're a bunch of kids who failed their trials and had to resort to crime just to get by

It's just a mix of kids that failed their trials and a mix of kids that feel like the world is against them.

I could be wrong but I always got the idea that they were sort of a distraction from what aether was doing? They'd steal Pokemon to sell on for money but the aether foundation would then 'save' them and look good in the public eye

They're just petty crooks who are in it for the money, hired by the real antagonist.
