This. It's not going no where. Our kids will be playing it.
2017: we get SM sequels
2018: project for new gamefreak hirees finishes in May. That means this will be a year with no Pokémon games.
2019: March-April-ish Gen 8 launches for the switch
2020: DP remakes
2021: Is the 25th anniversary. Pikachu's dex number is 25. We'll get a sole special anniversary Yellow remake
What comes after that lord knows but it will still be highkey relevant. Especially since GO brought a lot of players back

While I don't think Sun and Moon are the best games in the series, the fact that they showed that Game Freak is willing to break traditions and the introduction of some of my all-time favorite designs really invigorated my interest in the series. I can't wait to see what they'll do next.
