does anyone else here prefer physical media to streaming/having files on their computer?
I just can never get digital media/streaming to work exactly how I want it.
I can download something on my computer, but then its a hassle to play it on my TV while also browsing the internet. Streaming services are all garbage and have different things, netflix sometimes just straight up doesn't work (my dad has netflix, I don't pay for it), amazon prime streaming barely has anything, and they never have the specific anime I'm looking for at any given time.
Watching anime on my ps4 sucks because normal streaming sites you would use never work very well, and ps4's browser is super clunky when streaming.
I'm thinking about buying a switch, but it doesn't even have common streaming apps, not that I would want to use them anyway.
I'm convinced blueray/dvd is still the best option for watching films.

I personally believe that digital media can never replace, at the very least, print. I'm one of those people who far prefers holding a book in his hands to just looking at text on a screen.

i have the opposite opinion. i think e-readers with natural displays (not backlit, see nook simpletouch) can easily be a decent substitute for bound paper books. it isn't like an ipad where the sun will be brighter than the screen and make it unreadable. and to me the aesthetic argument of "well i just like having a real paper book in my hands" is about as convincing as the arguments for polaroid photos or vinyl records. sure, the older tech feels more natural or "warmer," but at the end of the day, for me at least, utility wins over aesthetics.

i think books are separating from whats on ereaders. they have separate (but similar) purposes. books are going to become more of an art as printmaking continues to advance, ereaders are going to be where cheap but fun stories live, probably text books, maybe some other stuff.

Why would you ever try to stream on you ps4 when you own a computer?
But I have to agree OP. I prefer physical copies to digital copies.

because sometimes i want to watch a movie on my larger tv screen, while also browsing the internet on my computer.

In my set up I've got two TVs for occasions like this where I want to shit post and watch anime full screen at the same time. My video card is full on outputs with two tvs and my HTC Vive. You may have a laptop without two video outputs though so that would explain using your PS4.
