OST need re-up apparently
Last thread: >>95904228
The thing you people aren't admitting is that the reason there's shitposting is because there's not enough people here asking real questions, so a few people get bored. That + the occasional teenager. If you want the general to function for real, you need to actually get more people interested into the games, and / or into it. And you might meme about how its wrong, but this even includes recruiting people from gamefaqs and reddit. Its not like there's not autism here already.
I'm going to marry Tamaki-chan dressed like a certain private investigator!
>recruiting people from gamefaqs and reddit.
I'd rather let the general die or be consumed by a swarm of shitposts.
>we will never go back to SMT protags wielding COMPs with keyboard sleeves and cords everywhere
>only modern touchscreen teenager friendly bullshit
At the same time, he could write a story. The P4 writers could learn from him.
If only he didn't let his waifu consume him.
So I'm just starting Strange Journey.
>all the pollution is creating a circle made up of parallel universes that will eat Earth
That's not heavyhanded at all.
Anyway, does this one still have the heavy religious undertones of the other SMT games or is it a separate sort of one?
It's not going to get any more subtle, don't worry.
There's no canon name to date. Part of this is because of the way the localization is handled; the protagonist in the Japanese version is from the Japanese military, in the US version he's a former Marine, etc. It's the one game I just rolled with my own name.
friendly reminder not to skip leg day or you'll end up like no butt Flynn.
True Goddess Reincarnation? Should rename the game true butt reincarnation
What's the best game to start off with? I've never played any Megaten games. I've heard Strange Journey is fairly good at providing the player with information on critical aspects and is gentle with the demon talk, and Persona 3 is fairly easy but still solid all around.
literally a million guides
Badass->Kyuukaku Megami Tensei
Less Badass->Shin Megami Tensei
"I didn't like the game I picked"->Persona 4
If you don't have a 3DS, Nocturne.
If you don't have a decent CPU, Strange Journey.
If you have a toaster, SMT1.
Persona has its own general and is typically for people who want less game and more waifu. It's pretty vilified in this thread, so don't expect unbiased opinions on it.
Persona isn't vilified here, feel free to talk about it. The only people that complain are teenage tryhards that want to fit in and maybe the 3 people that actually dislike Persona 4.
Why do you feel like your opinion is speaks for /smtg/? /pg/ exists for a reason. If you think it's a low quality general, then try to improve it.
I think it gets a lot more hate than it deserves.
Persona discussion is fine here as long as it relates to the actual game. That's like saying you can't discuss pre-2000 games on /v/ anymore because /vr/ exists, or you can't discuss mech anime on /a/ because /m/ exists.
At the time, it was interfering with actual discussion.
I dislike Persona 3 and 4 and can't understand how people can unironically like those shitty games but I have nothing against anyone discussing them here because it's actual discussion unlike the shitposting which makes up most of these threads like almost all other generals.
Seriously, how can anyone like Persona 3 and 4? The gameplay is one of the worst of this franchise and the story isn't really that good that it would make up for it. Even the waifu aspect isn't great, S-Links are completely isolated, you can go out with all girls and it doesn't even have an impact on the story.
Shadows are probably the most boring enemies in the history of MT, there's no negotiation, the only time demons appear is those few seconds when they get summoned as personae (which, I admit, isn't that bad), dungeons are not even dungeons at all and in P3 they look almost completely the same for the whole game (except those on full moon) etc.
Yeah, I started with P3 and went on to 4 and really liked them because of the demons and freudian touch I never encountered in video games but after I played Nocturne and other games, I couldn't look at P3 and 4 ever again.
Please, I'd like to know how someone who has played other games of the franchise can still like them that much.
I like them for the characters and the symbolism. P3 has a lot of references to Freud, so you aren't too far off, and P4 has quite a few references to Nietzsche. I can't stand Personages as much as the next guy, but the games themselves aren't too bad when you get past the dating sim mechanics (and honestly, I kinda like those too).
Yeah, like I said, I can understand people liking those games when they never played other games of this franchise, I was one of them but it seems to me that there are people here who still really like P3 and 4 and even claim that P3 is the best of the Persona series which I really can't get behind.
But the characters aren't even that good, the dating sim mechanic could have been done a lot better, it has no impact at all except persona exp and the gameplay really is one of the worst.
Pretty sure most of the people there haven't played other games, so yeah, I would. I'm sorry.
Only visited it once to see it with my own eyes, it expectedly wasn't that bad but I never felt the need to go there ever again.
Was wondering too.
People like to be accepted. That's why word of mouth works. On the flipside, people like to be contrarian. If they can find the good in something bad, or vice versa, it makes them seem observant. That's why we have hipsters.
If P3 was my first megaten I'd probably never bother with the series ever again. I was pretty hyped for social mechanics, too, what a disappointment that was. The music is cool, tho.
Like I said, I don't think /pg/ is worse than /smtg/ but I really don't want to read another general. Generals are full of shit most of the time, I'm glad that /smtg/ is one of very few I actually bother to check in regularly.
If P3 and 4 hadn't been my first, I probably couldn't ever have played through them.
I can imagine your disappointment.
Here's a quote from Nietzsche
"The pride connected with knowing and sensing lies like a blinding fog over the eyes and senses of men, thus deceiving them concerning the value of existence. For this pride contains within itself the most flattering estimation of the value of knowing. Deception is the most general effect of such pride, but even its most particular effects contain within themselves something of the same deceitful character."
The idea of "The Fog" was taken literally in Persona 4. All of the characters rejected truth, while constantly seeking it. Teddie was the biggest representation of this, since he constantly would seek the meaning of his existence, while the answer was always right in front of him. Persona 4 is riddled with this sort of literary irony, but it's often ignored by the fanbase entirely.
Plus, I could also mention how battling Shadow Teddie the day after the lesson about Nietzsche gives him the skill Nihil Hand.
Not sure if I am or not. The entire Persona series has stuff like this throughout it, which is something I really enjoyed about it. Persona 3 does something similar, except it's more-so based around classic Greek tragedy than anything else.
>Plus, I could also mention how battling Shadow Teddie the day after the lesson about Nietzsche gives him the skill Nihil Hand.
I made a point of fighting Teddie before that lesson and he still used that attack.
Actually you fight the two of them a total of five times.
First you have to beat them twice. Then you have to beat them after they fuse.
Also, there's a mission where you defend the Frost Five uniting and joining you.
And there's a bunch of demons released through spotpass each week for free, and can fill up your compendium even if you don't get all the ingame demons.
And it'll still be incredibly easy casual shit because it's DeSu 2, I get it. Bragging about making the compendium even easier to 100% is a pretty shit selling point. Keep shilling for Atlus though
The game has Lucifrost as Tyrant, your argument is invalid.
Thanks for the meme response, he has Null Fire. It seems like it has something to do with it being grey.
How does a skill get grey? It would be pretty shitty if you fused perfect demons but some of the skills didn't work.
Never played a DeSu, so sorry for my lack of knowledge.
>I obviously knew that already...so it's a meme response.
Why would someone post shitty images? Is it that much work to not save the shittiest image one can find and instead save the one with higher quality?
It's like getting images from google/tumblr, I'll never understand.
That image was from the first SMT4 trailers and all we had were lowres images and subs. Same with the walter edits, I made all those from like, 360p captures with jpg compression.
That's not an excuse, the game is out for an eternity, you had a lot of time to make new ones not from 360p captures with jpg compression.
At the very least there's no reason anymore to post those images.
>Only a truly enlightened mind can enjoy a series like SMT.
If that's true, when why is the neutral ending so popular?
He did say his demons are a bit different.
He probably means that he only uses law demons, or angels. Since a lot of people may be indiscriminate in what they use, it may seem different than some others that you use. With zelenin in sj refusing to use demons til she gets given an angel to use, its not unlikely.
That's why I also said law demons. If they're actually alive and have personalities you could probably tell the difference fast. And at the very least game-wise you can fuse angels early on. If your demons are also your friends, you would expect people to want ones similar to them.
Maybe he just likes his demons man. You never try to claim your pet is the best motherfucker around, special as fuck and junk even though it's probably no different from the rest of its species?
Maybe this translate to them actually acting different in universe in a noticeable way that leads to them using different battle tactics. You don't know. The phrase certainly seems to imply something noticeable.
These fags will complain about any and every thing.
After I played the first one when it came out, I had a dream which was basically that + twewy + some time travel powers. It was actually the longest dream I ever had and it flowed like a real story that could have been a movie. The highlight (and only surreal part) was when agent smith wanted to betray the government, and so requested a fat chick to be his partner, and for their mode of transportation to be magic carpets made out of roast beef. She kept eating hers while flying, and so eventually fell to her death during the mission, allowing him to do his own thing without it seeming suspicious that he was alone during that time.
I thought the line was, "I don't like it"
So SMTG, I Just got finished beating Hell biker. The fiends so far have been pretty average in terms of difficulty. I really only had a problem with matador the first time I fought him because I didn't switch my demon that absorbed force magic fast enough. I haven't really been grinding either.
The way they were built up I thought that I would have a harder time or that I would have to go for a more specific strategy. Does it get much harder than buffing/debuffing and spamming focus and physical attacks?
It won't truly be dead until E3! Surely we'll get some info then!
am I ever gonna need a purely magic build for a boss? I have some ideas for a few demons, but It doesn't look like it's going to happen.
In all seriousness, though, if Raidou isn't a playable character there's going to be riots.
The reason most people claim Nocturne is hard is because in most JRPGs, buffs debuffs and ailments are all but worthless. These people go in to SMT games with that mindset, and we all know where that ends up.
>first time playing strange journey
>Get to Carina
>Jack "mah niggah" frost asks to get a new pimp coat
>Start looking for UMAs to kill for their muzzles
Odd that he didn't show up as unknown but whatever, how fucked am I?
Why do people like Walter so much? Jonathan was clearly superior.
That's because he's a fiend, like in most games, you have a 1/256 of finding one, in this game per enemy search.
There's one fiend in each sector. Luckily you should be fine
>On my way back to save
>Run into Cerberus on the way, he uses iron claw
>It's a fucking crit
So now that I'm part way in to Berserk, I have a question. Why the fuck is every single image of Guts or from the comic in general that gets used here from roughly the first third exclusively?
>Seraph is a Chaos aligned Herald in Imagine
Nocturne is my favorite game, but I fucking love the idea of IV's world.
>humans using other humans' bodies to harvest drugs to stave off demons, even brainwashing kids to make ideal harvest candidates
>the ceiling over Tokyo causing a perpetual nighttime
>humans only thriving by surviving in underground metros
>the medieval kingdom of Mikado right on top of Tokyo, with an entirely different society and rules
>that sky tower
I could go on.
The mental imagery I come up with when thinking back on IV is incredible though.
Don't forget all the backstory it has, like how we can see the result of how that Tokyo would have end up if the CDF's soldier went Chaos or Law instead of Neutral. That plus all the backstory and details you can collect through talking with random NPC's is great.
If IV did something right, it was it's worldbuilding
IV's atmosphere and worldbuilding is incredible, and that's not even including all the little details they put in.
>nearly all the bosses have unique dialogue for the negotiation skills
>the Terminal Guardian has like 80 unique voiced lines that change depending on the order you unlock the terminals in
>certain quests will change dialogue before/after killing certain bosses or the alignment lock
>all the vendors in Tokyo have tutorials for buying/selling items/exchanging materials in case you never did it in Mikado
Atlus really doesn't get enough credit for its attention to the little details.
Yeah, ruined it by leaving it.
Though he's not the only one.
Do I get a bonus for recruiting everyone in the game or no?
>playing strange journey on emulator
>desmume on ubuntu has no frame limiter option so the framerate is all over the place
>audio speed is tied to framerate, so the pitch is all wibbly wobbly like an old movie
It's... well, it's spooky, I guess.
>posting the inferior cropped version
Space marines are better than teenage brats.
District 10 probably stomps. Tatsuya is one of the strongest characters in the Persona universe and Aleph can go head-to-head with YHVH. His biggest troubles would probably be Abel, Serph, YHVH, and Demi-Friend.
Got distracted, but I'm back. I'll be uploading a few images at a time, putting them in imgur albums.
It was a massacre, rest in peace. ;_;7
These are the last ones I have finished ahead of time. The next few will take a while more.
Raidou gets what he deserves, Jack Frost unleashes his psycho rage.
A deep insight to both the current state of /smtg/ and Atlus.
Yu has established a Social Link with fire.
Second image in the link here:
Meanwhile, we're down to two!
>Maya breaks Mirai's nose for a basket of bread
B R U T A L
It's not completely randumb.
You're retarded, if you didn't get behind it. Same demon likes the same stuff, chances that it doesn't work are very low, maybe it had a bad day or something, most of the times, the same responses work.
Don't submit and give demons everything because nobody wants to follow a pussy. Say no to some requests.
I don't get why people don't learn this stuff themselves. It's not really that hard.
EAT FUCKING SHIT /pg/ AHAHAHAHAHAHA GET FUCKING CUCKED AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
WHO'S MAKING FUN OF WHO NOW YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS
Here's some stats on the showdown, as well as a transcript, for those interested. Demi-fiend wins!
Nope. Seriously, load up SJ, get into a convo with a demon then when they ask a question save state, answer, then reload it and answer the other option. They'll both have the same result.
Anon, I savescummed through some negotiations in my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs of SMT I and SMT II to do it faster. It's fixed at the start of the battle what reactions a demon will have to your answers
I haven't played a mainline SMT in years and have mostly been a Personafag in recent years. I'm playing SMTIV for the first time and it feels like recruiting demons is a crapshoot.
>Give me a Life Stone
>Give me 192 Macca
>Give me some of your life
>Give me a bead
>I HATE YOU
>Repeat all of the above except give them the rare/expensive item
Like for real I am just trying to get fusion fodder jesus christ
>I try to find a nice middle ground
Didn't sound like it, you implied that you either can give them the "valuable item" or not.
You can complain all you want, it's the same with Matador some people have problems and are really vocal, a lot don't.
So is this optimal?
Assuming >>96167934 is correct, you have no way to know whether they'll be thankful for your gift or see you as weak. I wish some hackers could get into the code and see what's really going on in this... they figured out the formulas for Fire Emblem, surely this can't be much harder.
Hey. They're streaming SMTI in case anyone wants to watch. Channel flazkavacid
I don't know. I just want to play Persona Portable with most of the original version's soundtrack.
Problem is, many of the songs in the patch sound like they were recorded with an MP3 Player from the late 90s.
Another problem is that the Portable version has less songs. If you really want to listen to the original version's soundtrack, you either have to play the original or listen to the OST while you play PP without sound.
I never understood the people here praising the patch because its shittyness is on par with the remix.
If it's way too difficult to bother making the patch better, why bother with producing such garbage at all?
Well, I guess some people were content with it, so there's that. Surely wasn't a lot of work anyway.
Well no shit people act like they're 15 when 15. When dealing with characters you have to assume context, and scale up proportionally. If she made that outfit herself at 15, and in a bad situation is willing to help people and have fun doing it, she sounds pretty reasonable. She might grow out of naivete and being eccentric.
