I personally prefer the direct control system (every Persona and MT game except Persona 3 had it, after all) but mechanically the only major difference between 3 and 4 is that the protagonist can only use one type of weapon and physical attack types were further reduced down to just one generic type. This is just a small guide for those looking to get into the Persona series. Despite what everyone says, Perosna is a great series through and through and you can start at any game and know what's going on, as each game is its own self contained story. However, I highly recommend that you start with Persona 3 and 4. 3 is fun for the story, and Persona 4 Golden is often viewed as the best in the entire series, mostly [ADACHI IS THE KILLER] due to its fine tuned gameplay and excellent replay value, as well as interesting/relatable characters.
