I definitely don't do any of that, so I'm gonna guess I'm missing the basics of the arena. I've never been higher than ~1620 or so, even with different partners. Ret is pretty basic though, and my friends are warr and dk, so we're running melee pain train. I've heard holy pally is better for it but it feels like I just end up healing myself and 'tanking' every single battle more than I'm doing any healing towards my team, and in which case I just question why I'm not playing ret. I don't know, like I said I'm respeccing tuesday and maybe I'll understand better then, I have no idea if melee pain trains hit 2k or if its a good comp at all

How long it takes is entirely on you and who you face. You can hit a win streak and hit 2k in a night or two as you gain tons of points from big streaks, or get stuck in a rut by losing a game, winning, losing, winning...

The general fault is that I die before their healer does, or in a few cases like MW monk or RSham their big "fuck you I just gained xx% of my health in one cast" button is just on a quicker CD than mine, we had a mistweaver use her bubble no less than 6 times in a single fight even with me scraping in a cc on her and putting myself in a dangerous position away from my holy pillar-humptoy basically off its cd

Interrupts are generally okay, though no one seems to bite my fakecasts unless I fake it 2-3 times at which point it would've been way better to just heal, and then there are people that seem to interrupt me the instant I start casting, I don't know if there's an addon for that or something but I haven't figured out how to put a stop to that yet

I definitely kite fairly poorly, I've been using Pursuit of Justice because it's effortless and impossible to fuck up, my target of target macro for judgment kills itself sometimes and the speed boost doesn't seem like it does nearly as much as PoJ does consistently, maybe with burden of guilt it'd be better but I'm so thin for glyph space most of the time anyway

warr/dk/pally have way less cc than mage/boomkin/disc, which is a team that fucked us so hard I might as well have not even rode outside the gate

Death Knights have a shit ton of defensive cooldowns because they do not wield a shield like warrior / pala. Rune Tap should be used if you are going to take a huge spike of damage, Death Knights also have AMS vampiric blood icebound fortitude and the physical damage shield you get from mastery, out of all the classes I have tanked on, I find death knights to be the most fun.

Using it on CD is fine. DK's have more defensive cooldowns specifically because we're meant to be using them more. And you are correct about the ICD for Bone Shield, it was reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second in 6.0.

The thing about DK's is you need to get over the "I'll save it until i need it" mentality that you can have with Warriors and Paladins. Your CD's barring IBF are meant to be used on cooldown.
