It's such a pain to build a good linker sub persona.

You have to get Golden Link, Dual/Triple Link and at least one actual Link skill on one persona, also hopefully a resist/null to their weakness element plus maybe Bloody Vanguard.

It's made harder by the fact that Golden Chain doesn't want to transfer to anything and Dual/Triple Chain are also finicky.

Stick Kartikeya on Akihiko (Kartikeya gets Triple Link, Golden Chain, Bloody Vanguard and Bolt Link naturally), add that to Akihiko's final skill which is a passive which massively increases his critical hit rate and watch everything fucking die.

The only 2 subs I've found so far that are good for linking are Turdak at 27 and Kartikeya at 52.

When a Link skill is used, it does minor damage to a single target. There's one link skill for all 4 elements. When another person damages that same enemy after the Link skill is used, the Link activates and the Link user follows up that attack for moderate damage.

Normally, Links only work on the first hit after they're used. However, there are Dual, Triple, Quadra and Infinite (x8) Link passives which increase the number of possible hits.

Then there's Golden Link, which progressively increases the power of every Link hit after the first one.

Plus Bloody Vanguard, which is a passive which increases any subsequent damage to a target hit by the person.

You should make someone fast and strong like Akihiko or Yu your linker, since they have to go before others.

You can't even use Triangle spread to fuse 3 of one arcana to get a higher level one because death is such an uncommon arcana, there's only 2 below Turdak.

Construct a proper party. Physical attacks are better than magic in general, so you probably want 3 physical attackers and 2 mages.

The go to party is probably

Akihiko Aigis Kanji
P3MC Naoto

You can swap Akihiko for any linker (high STR and AGI). You can swap Aigis for any random front liner like Shinji, but she really helps you tank with Swordbreaker (and she gets Runic Shield as her final skill), plus her damage is good. Kanji is a monster and I wouldn't recommend switching him out for any reason.

P3MC is the best mage straight up, but you can run Yukari, Yukiko or Zen/Rei in his spot you really want. Naoto is also a staple I wouldn't touch, she's irreplaceable.

Use Fuuka as your battle navigator, all of her skills are amazing and the first one will carry you in early game. If you're still in the first dungeon and picked the P4 side, curse at Rise for being a useless slut and try to slog through.

Fuse subs based on what they can learn and what they can inherit. Physical abilities which say they hit multiple times are especially strong, you can get Swift Strike on relatively early Personas, that crushes bosses and FOEs. Your mages are there to exploit weaknesses, especially Naoto and her Hama/Mudo kit.

By physical attacks I mean physical skills. Of course, they're less good without Fuuka's navigator ability to sustain their health cost, but in general they hit harder and are what you want against bosses/FOEs since they have no weaknesses and your mages will run out of SP way before they die.

Plus you can even get elemental physical abilities if you want to exploit weaknesses on your bruisers.

Mages in this game are mostly for support, which is why P3MC and Naoto are the best due to their high agi and luck, you can status/seal most FOE and bosses in this game. Confusion is probably the best one later in the game since it lowers their agi and acts as a magic/power bind since all they'll do is attack and sometimes hit themselves. Poison is also good especially in the beginning since nothing you have will do anywhere close to the amount of damage on FOEs as poison does.

You can designate who does battle support and who does dungeon support. Both take different skills, so it's better to make a sub-Persona which helps with one of those and then assign them separately.

Ruin it. Doubly so if you're in the business of artificial difficulty and set it to Risky, then you'll feel the other side of the broken on your Leader's face. Even if the enemies aren't boosted by Impure Reach like your Hama/Mudo caster is they'll still eventually land one with the generally high success rate, unless you manage to get Null Light and Null Dark on their sub. And no, a Homunculus won't save you from a Game Over if your leader gets IK'd on Risky.

The success rate with equal LUK stat as the target and a tier 1 spell should be something like 50% against weakness, 10% against neutral and 1% against Strong. Double that for the higher tier ones. That's roughly how it is in other SMT/Persona games.

Instead it's way higher than that (especially the neutral resistance IK probability), plus the broken interaction of Impure Reach.
