If Megaten had an MMO what demon would you "main"?
Omoikane for me.
That's good since mainline sucks and I don't want SJ tainted by it
Thank you to everyone helping to make KMT one of the best fan translation projects ever.
Right now fighting the Matador. I heard Pixie+Angel is a good demon but every time I try talking to the Angel she said we are ill suited. Anything I'm doing wrong? I'm level 16 right now (had to grind because demons kept taking all my money and I had to buy the magatamas).
Alright so it's just her fucking around. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did. Since I just got off SMT1 and didn't know if alignment played a part.
But my team is a bit of a mess and I really need to fix it.
Nozuchi, High Pixie, and Shiisaa (how has the buffs and debuffs).
Oh I am sure that's the case. I just found I was always searching for money to give demons and the 4000 for the magatmas really got me. I never felt I needed to grind for the level just the money.
Nocturne has, in my experience, pretty capricious recruitment. Could be worth looking for demons with recruitment/conversation skills when fusing. I'm pretty sure level compared to the demon in question matters as well so all this "you don't need to grind" is just the usual nocturne edgemasters pretending like their favorite game is perfect. Level up if you think you need to.
I'm fine without leveling but I'm just annoyed with Angel. She's the only one that seem to hate me and refuse to join. Other demons did this too the first few times but never all the time with her.
>I'm pretty sure level compared to the demon in question matters as well
You gotta be equal level or higher. There are also specific convo skills that have high success rate if you're 10 levels above or below the demon, but that's it AFAIK
By the way, "grinding if you think you need to" and "needing to grind" are different things. You can beat Nocturne by leveling only through mandatory battles, so you don't need to grind in the most literal meaning
That's not grinding, grinding is walking in circles in the same place to kill the same enemy over and over because it gives you more xp.
Thanks for proving you are retarded though.
>doing the same set of actions repeatedly for an objective.
Like fiend hunting. It's okay to admit you're wrong.
Oh boy here we go. Instead of taking about stupid shit for the next few hours let's talk about things you're excited for. Is it possible we'll see SMTxFE at TGS?
Anyone has high (or semi-high) quality pics of different Zoma forms?
Been playing SH lately and I find the idea pretty neat. Shame there's no reason to ever bring them back.
>thinks he has reading comprehension skills
>completely fucking missed the point where I said besides nocturne
Or, you just think the fiend fights are always mandatory because you don't even play SMT and you're just a shitposter. Either is equally likely.
nice circular argument, shitposter
you don't even know how to find the fiends in SMT games besides nocturne do you. I bet you don't even play SMT. Did some of the /pg/ shitposters migrate here because they couldn't handle each other anymore? Feel free to go back.
then tell me how to find the fiends, shitposter. Prove me wrong. And try not to use the wiki like I know you have to.
>oh god I realized I'm wrong about what grinding is, quick damage control damage control damage control!
>Grinding is apparently finding fiends now
>Grinding is walking from zone to zone fighting monsters on the way
You are retarded
>Instead of having an actual argument you attack "you haven't even played SMt games"
What cesspool did you come from?
Whose dick would I have to suck to find out what Kaneko is up to?
more like you misquote and pull things out of context, not out of malice, but because you literally lack the reading comprehension to follow a conversation.
and that's why you're a /pg/ shitter, even if you've never been there in your life. You should go there though, you'll fit right in!
Yeah, but I thought rather that there's no reason unless a game would have mechanics similar to SH (magnetite cost per step or loyalty) or something else to differentiate them from regular demons and give players incentive to actually (f)use them.
They were created to see if humans could make demons.
They can. Even the Ancient Zoma seen in the first Devil Summoner were created by Inarunna's people. As long as there are people like Dr. Thrill or Victor there will be Zoma.
Now I hate to ask this now the thread went to shit. But playing Nocturne right now. I'm not at the compendium yet and just wondering if I get rid of a demon will it still be registered or do I have to talk to the guy with all the demons?
jiminez...please no, i liked you
put the chaos tack down
this fucker won't die and i don't want to grind two levels for rangda, shoulda kept doppleganger
Guys, why would I ever want to revert to human in Digital Devil Saga battles?
How does the ammo work? Is it an equipable or an actually depleting resource I need to refill?
Is the eating of enemies implied or do I actually have to use the devour attack for something?
Reverting to human does mean they won't have elemental weaknesses and with level appropriate ammo guns can do... alright damage. And some things are weak to gun. Speaking of, omoikane is weak to gun so most strategies for killing those usually involve having one or two people revert. It also increases the chance they'll flee so others swear by not reverting at all.
>>Is the eating of enemies implied or do I actually have to use the devour attack for something?
It is implied, that's why you get a little Atma at the end of battles. But if you use a devour attack you get a bunch more (just for that character, unless you have a passive skill to share it).
I'd also like to point out the devour skill has to be the attack that kills the enemy. Can't open with devour and then bufu it to death, for example. The character who gets the finishing blow with a devour skill will be the one who gets the big atma bonus.
Demon forms cost a large amount of magnetite to survive. Even moreso than humans who also require a large amount of magnetite. Unless you had a constant and steady supply of people to eat you'll go mad eventually.
It'd be really crazy if magnetite was a thing in that game.
It is. The lady devices in the Karma Temple explains that everything is composed of magnetite and everything needs it to survive. From the rocks to the beasts. Humans and demons need it more than anyone else and that's why demons have to eat people.
Just finished my law playthrough today. Jimenez was a joke. All he did was cancel out my debilitates as I wailed on him and only actually bothered to attack me once in about seven turns
As was established during the Dark Ages of Shitposting, that particular poster wasn't even aware of how to locate the fiends in games that weren't nocturne, so I think it's to say they have not smt1 with best gear.
HEY GUYS NEWFAG HERE
I really wanted to get into SMT because I'm kind of burned out on most other JRPGs these days, so I went balls-deep and got a shit-ton of the games.
>The DDS games
>The Raidou Kuzunoha games
>Strange Journey's on its way
I've played only a little bit of Nocturne (up to Matador) and it's seriously still one of the best JRPGs I've ever played.
What am I in for with this series?
Hours and Hours of sitting at the fusion screen trying to get the right combination of skills, or sitting at the mantra screen trying to figure out what path to take
Nocturne is the best representation of everything the series has to offer
DDS is like a SMT made for westerners weened on Final Fantasy
Haven't played Raidou
SMTIV is has some hardcore RPG exploring almost to a fault, but it is one of the most populated Japan's in a SMT
Strange Journey's mazes will make you pull your hair out and it has the most unique setting for a SMT
- More challenging gameplay than most JRPGs (this doesn't mean that they're unfair hard or anything like that).
- Cute demon girls
- Dead friends
- Autism in fusions
- Gloriously painful dungeons in some games (SNES games, Strange Journey)
This reminds me how hilariously easy it is to modify the 'global' map of KMT1.
Given a few minutes I could reshape Daedalus like a dick.
Is it just me, or does Nadja look kinda like a younger Lilim?
Which games should I get? I have a $16 spending limit
>Nocturne - 7.99
>SMT Devil Summoner 1 Radio Kazvs - 3.99
>SMT Devil Summoner 2 Radio Kazvs - 3.99
SMT Digital Devil Saga 1 - 7.99
SMT Digital Devil Saga 2 - 7.99
Because mages 9999 and one-shot everything in IMAGINE's shitty PvP. Seriously, it was the most unbalanced thing I've ever seer.
You can't make PvP in SMT. There's no fun in just having some passive resistance skills and strong shit like Megidolaon.
It would be cool, but there are demons that just outclass every other. Every team would be Metatron/Beelzebub/Shiva or something along those lines. Same with moves, everyone would repel everything and carry Megidolaon. There isn't really enough diversity in what demons are capable of to make balanced PvP like in Pokemon (well, somewhat balanced, depends on your opinion of Pokemon PvP).
>playing DDS for the first time
>Jinana's suit and ass tatoo
> realize Jinana has the same voice as Major from Ghost in a Shell and Naoto from P4 Animation
It'd be nice if we got to explore Walter's village in SMTIV and got some more backstory on Jonathan too. Flesh them out a bit more. We only really got vague hints about why they fight, like Walter being afraid of fish but being forced to be a fisherman because of the caste system.
That's not his motivation for fighting demons, it's just one of the reasons why he's glad he became a Samurai, because he hated not having a choice, and part of his reason for being chaos aligned.
Keep playing and find out.
I wish that you eventually had to betray them to survive in the junkyard, it'd be a lot more fitting for the atmosphere. In fact, i wish DDS1 focused more on the whole junkyard tribe wars and left most of the Matrix stuff for DDS2.
Maybe we could leave a strawpoll in the OP and whatever is winning by September 1st will be the first game of the month.
It would all depend on the next OP letting everyone know though
Either of the attack stats.
When you start NG+, you choose what you want to keep. You spend points to decide what to carry over, you obviously won't have enough points to carry over everything the first time
I guess we would have to be a little more sensitive to spoilers, but I mean a month is long enough where people should be able to jump in even after the 1st or 2nd week.
Also we wouldn't go through all the games so fast.
Yes actually. That's what gave me the idea. It's just too bad more people didn't jump into KMT.
Maybe if it is at the top of the OP though, and a game that is voted on, more people will join in.
It's tough to get through, but that's mostly because it's unrefined from being the first in the series. The fusion isn't as good as later games, the dungeons are just ok, and the encounter rate is unreal at some points. I think it has really good characters and a great story though, so if you can slog through the rougher parts it's worth a playthrough.
That's true, and I'll take that advice to heart. Thank you.
I feel like I can dig it. I've never been one to complain and drop a game because of little annoyances like that.
What platform would you recommend to pick up SMT1 and SMT2 for?
You just have to be patient. Play SMT 1 on iOS since it's the official release and all. Plus it has the Visionary Items that give more backstory and stuff from the GBA version, which aren't included in the SNES version.
SMT2 is only available in English on the SNES.
I just don't understand. They already have an Android version in Japanese, they already have an English script. Why not?
They should know their fanbase is more counter culture and less likely to have an iOS device. The cheapest iPad is $250 and iPod Touch's are only 4".
Well that was certainly an interesting fight.
>tfw can't pay internet bill and it might get turned off any day now so download any entry in the series that is in English and able to be emulated to survive the drought
Secret Events in Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei:
Obtaining Hinokagutsuchi - Once you defeat or ally with Lucifer (Ed's note: actually seems to trigger when you create the Orb of Hope), return to the spot where you found the Nihil sword from the statue in Ueno. The sword should then be there.
Jack Frost, Jr. - Go to a room with an empty treasure chest, then take one step outside, and then push Down on the control pad 31 times, and then re-enter the room. He will ask if you know his Mama, so say yes. You will receive $3000, 3000 MAG and 10,000 EXP. After this, you can encounter a Jack o'Lantern in the area outside Bael's Castle and talk to him. Doing so should trigger an extra message and will let you find Jack Frost, Jr. one more time.
Susanoo - When the Girl gets captured by Astaroth in the Forest, enter the cave to the north and find the area where it says "You see traces of someone having been here." There should be a girl there who asks to join you, so say Yes. Make sure you have a spot in your party. If you refuse or don't have a spot free, this event will not occur again.
Rag's Shop Member's Card - In MT1, if you enter Rag's Shop more than twice, you'll receive a Member's Card. If you beat MT1 and then exit the Devil Buster game on MT2, you can talk to the boy in the shelter and he'll give you the card. Take the card to Rag's Shop and you'll trade it in for a Heidrun, which restores all HP, MP and removes any status except DEAD.
Izanami's Robe - In MT1 in Mazurka, you can find a Silk Thread item that you can take to Izanami. If you continue on to MT2 and meet Izanami in Belial's Castle, she will give you Izanami's Robe.
The 4 Gods - Play MT2 from a MT1 cleared save, and when you reach Bael, destroy the frog. After that, rooms where you saw a message saying "A stagnant air is flowing here" will teleport you to a new map. In here, spots where you run into Green Slimes are places where you have a chance to meet a special Deity demon. They are Artemis, Leto, and Apollo. If you collect all 3 and then fuse them together, you will receive Deity Zeus.
Jack Frost's Mama and Papa - Play a MT2 game from a MT1 cleared save, and collect the Heidrun. Then obtain a "Fallen Angel Wing" from the Code Breaker game in Bael's Castle. Then trigger the event with Jack Frost, Jr. After that, if you go to a Cathedral of Shadows, Papa will appear and give you Bai Long, Kali and Qing Long. Once you beat MT2 and return to the shelter, go see the nurse and Mama will appear and introduce you to the 4 hidden gods.
Mountain of Trash - Play MT2 from a MT1 cleared save, destroy Bael as a frog, and do not get Hinokagutsuchi. If these conditions are met, you can go to B2F of Ginza and find the mountain of trash. Searching it will give you $5000 and 2000 MAG, and then a crystal ball will appear in the back. Answer Yes when it asks if you'll touch it. You'll be warped to a new map with a lot of high level enemies. You can escape by finding the room with the elder. If you go to the mountain before fulfilling those 3 conditions or answer No when asked to touch the crystal, it will not reappear and you will not be able to warp.
Can we talk about DeSuOC? this game has an absurd amount of depth for what it is, and has really compelled me to come back to it time and again. One of the things which is most astounding to me is that characters who I truly despised began to really come into their own depending on the route you take. Midori, for example, is, at first glance, a completely insufferable individual who seemingly applies little to no thought to her actions and is as a result a seemingly shallow character with little to offer. However, as the story unfolds, depending on how you side with her, she becomes really easy to relate to -
in the fight with Kaido and Keisuke, when she shouts down Keisuke for "pushing his ideas on people," she highlights both her own hypocrisy but also the incredible strength of will she has to defend her concept of legitimate justice, in the face of Keisuke's notion of violent retribution. Never had I actually felt so bad about leaving such an insufferable character behind before - prior to the fight I'd been looking forward to it, but it hurt to know I'd be doing her wrong. In one of my subsequent re-plays, finding out her backstory and becoming closer with her actually even tamed her violently stupid outbursts.A lot of people say that characters in this game lack depth and/or an arc, but I don't believe that to be true at all, except for perhaps Yuzu, whose primary motivation of escape is constantly on you. People say this is a flaw of her design, but I actually think it's brilliant - if you didn't have someone who relied on you constantly questioning escape, the player wouldn't really perceive then world as a threatening place, and the deathclock would seem trivial - because Yuzu is constantly pushing to leave, you've got actually investment in the notion, helping craft a more immersive experience. This is perhaps my favorite SMT title behind SMT4anyone got anything else to say about DeSuOC? let's duke it out.
Eh, you just started, right? Don't worry about dying, you just lose half your money.
Unless you need to buy gear, or save for summoning, I haven't been too careful. But I'm not that far yet. So this might not hold out long game.
Keep a Cerberus, even if it means fusing him, and going to find another. This is because he has revive spell, which works out to be cheaper vs. using the healer. It was costing ~400 to revive mine, and I think Cerberus gets 2 or 3 casts (it's not guaranteed to work though). You can heal his MP for probably under 100. So even if it doesn't work the first time, you can just keep healing his MP.
OH, also, using the revive spell heals the targets HP/MP, so sometimes it's better to let Yumiko die.
I really liked it. Just finished the Naoya route, only have Amane and Atsuro to go. I really can't imagine this game feeling complete without the 8th day routes. It's a little difficult to go back to it right now, because I'm doing a blind run of Nocturne.
SMT IV is my favorite too.
My only problem with DeSuOC is how long it takes to get shit done. It's too fucking slow with the enemy movement and stuff. If they ever get around to a 3rd one I hope they take a few pages out of Fire Emblem Awakening's book.
I went back upstairs by talking to the one dude in Valhalla. My team is getting shit on pretty hard right now. I'm going to assume his weakness is Bufu spells, but I'm not sure which demons have Bufu.
Break Record would be 4th, when you think about it. I hope we'll be geting it next year - there were only few months between JAP and US releases, so technically it's possible.
SMT4 will sell so good in EUR that Atlus will reconsider their actions and never make us wait again;_;
I've just come to the point of no return in DeSu:OC, and I'm wondering if I should save Naoya's ending for a subsequent replay if it's that compelling or if I should just go for it now. I've also got Gin, Kaido, and Atsuro's routes open - are they any more or less difficult to acquire than Naoya's?
>According to an interview, Kaneko is allegedly a very heavy smoker, sometimes smoking up to 100 cigarettes a day. He was also involved in the Takenoko-zoku dance groups that were prevalent in Tokyo during the 70s and 80s.
So guys, just letting you know that /pg/ has the Ground Zeroes ripper guy ripping Arena 2 currently and already posting gorillion spoilers in there. Also yesterday he said he's hated on /smtg/ because of tulpas, so you know who that is.
Don't suppose Atlus has released any more info on the EU release date of SMTIV? September's coming up real quick.
Yes but a preta tears out a guy's throat like 5 minutes in and it kinda goes downhill from there
shit, like 30 minutes in your mom is killed by a demon who takes her skin and pretends to be her
What are you talking about?
I killed everyone in the Tournament with Arisu.
Mahama is really good when it becomes available, around the Shinjuku segment. Judgement Light is also great for wiping out endgame enemies quickly. Mamudo and Die For Me are slightly worse but still good.
Orden didn't reply because Orden was not awake.
I don't even remember how I did it. I am not very tech-savvy so I read a tutorial about music editing and ATRAC3+ and stuff.
Dissidia 012 uses the same sound format so the tutorial I read was about changing its music, but the process is the same for P1P. I didn't manage to add working loops, though...
I did it exactly as I do it for Dissidia, and even double checked by replacing a track in Dissidia and it works, but when I use the very same .at3 I made and replace in P1P, the game crashes when it reaches the point of loading the track.
So do fucking tell how you did it, step by step, what programs, how did you loop etc, please.
I've never understood responses like "that was the best thing I've seen you type ever."
I remember I went to
tumblronce. I saw many replies like "That the best thing I've read in the history of forever." It seems so... dumb.
Aah, I think I know what may be the problem.
Since P1P has that LBA protection thingy you have to export the file list BEFORE modifying the game and import it after changing files.
I am pretty sure I didn't need to do anything else.
>Fixed bug causing Devil Analyzer to crash the game when Azazel's entry is visible.
>Some modifications to MT2's fusion tutorial text to be more accurate.
It's only been a few weeks, and the translator's possibly almost done.
What if this became the new talk theme in next SMT game?
Wow, should've guessed that. Those faggots can't do anything on their own.
It seems /pg/ is some times more than just waifu fagging. Not bad.
Even with waifus /pg/ is better than neogaf.
I wonder if this translator has plans for another game. If not maybe he will do a write up on the project as a whole to help others understand how he did such a great job.
His work looks as professional as SMT1 on iOS.
I'll probably release the source code and notes for everything I've done. No reason to hold onto it.
Not important, just someone who's been in the translation scene before. :)
Heh, thanks. I know it's not a game for everyone, definitely not nearly as involving as the main SMT series. But it's a nice short romp through the roots of the franchise.
Hardest part? Well, obviously it would have been motivation, since the project just sat dormant for 3 years. But in a way, I also couldn't have done some of the things I did if I hadn't grown as a programmer over those years too.
It seems like the project sitting dormant and Atlus just giving you more official translations to use has been a great thing anyway.
I rather have a complete localization rather than just an alright translation that is just good enough and no one ever goes back and fixes.
You do very professional work.
The store has already updated because I see ep5 of the walking dead and new akibas trip dlc, however I don't know nif they'll remove the discounts or not
Won't be able to get a 20 psn card untilnabfew hours fromnnpw
Thanks. I am trying to make sure everything's done satisfactorily, so that I don't have to come back to it months or years later.
I should be done playing through it soon, and fixed up quite a bit of dialogue on the way. I'll probably give testers another week to report in, and if I don't hear anything, I'll release v1.0.
Atlus' sales are usually a month long. If I had to guess, I'd say the games are on sale until the end of August. But that's just a guess.
If they're still on sale at the end of today, it's pretty safe to bet the sale will last until at least next Monday.
they all have new physical copies on amazon anyways that sell for a reasonable price, i'll probably just get those
especially since it'll be easier to cheat that way
Me too. I own every SMT Playstation 2 release and every one they have put on PSN so far.
I only need P4Arena, Devil Survivor DS and Revelations Persona and I'll have a copy of all NA retail released SMT games
Are you serious? Do you have Jack Bros.?
Anybody have the persona psp iso with the ps1 version music??
i need this ;_;
I know this, they got rid of a bunch of really great boss battle tracks and reused the same ones for a bunch of places
but somebody could put 67 tracks from revelations on there and it would still be better
this will probably never happen... fuck
Without spoilers what would be the best Mantra to learn at the beginning of the Solids base in Digital Devil Saga?
I'm thinking Death since the first people I ran into turned to Divine demons.
>Wanting Nocturne as a VN
>Wanting ANOTHER version of Nocturne
Let me guess, you also want them to make a Vita version of P3 too.
Not the same guy here, but I do want Maniax Chronicle in English because Raidou > Dante. I don't care what system, but if they made it HD and added more stuff, all the better.
I don't think any Vita game has ever cost $60. They're all usually about $40 at launch. Unless your talking about Eurobux or something.
Speaking of Soul Hackers builds, how useful is luck?
I understand it affects demon negotiation and crits. Stuff like that. But is it worth ONLY investing in Luck? I'll be picking it up again soon to do NG+ and if a Luck only build is viable and recommended I'll do it.
I think Majin Tensei 1 and 2 is also being worked on by them. My Japanese is a little bit on the elementary level side, but I wouldn't mind trying to translate the script.
He did make an update a few weeks ago, so he still seems to be working on it.
Heh, it's up to them. And I don't want to step on any toes with multiple projects.
I don't really have any plans once KMT is finished. I kinda do want to go back and finish my other non-SMT projects, but if there's a game I can help out on, I don't mind at all.
Mostly the SNES, with a bit of NES and GB experience. I guess I'd have to find some documentation on how the PSP works.
Though my brother has a PSP with custom firmware I could probably test stuff on.
>You will never play as female demi fiend
Truth be told, out of the characters only Chiaki gets me hard.
Teacher is too stupid for me to like.
>you will never get a handjob from her tentacle hair arm thing
I don't agree at all with her reason but for some reason i still like her.
Is it because she's stronk?
I decided to pick SMT1 on iOS back up after dropping it a few months ago. I tried going to the top of both sides of the Tokyo Government Building and the doors were sealed on both. What do I do to have them open?
