how is A2 not SF lol
it's very footsies based, and the CCs are no worse than shit like Boxer's super in ST so don't give me that shit
difference being you start with meter in A3 and the reward for landing a vism combo into crouch cancel infinite compared to a poke in A3 is much higher than the reward of landing even the most damaging ccs compared to a poke in A2
the problem with a3 is ground-to-air block (as opposed to a2, where it was just air-to-air), nerfed walkspeeds compared to a2, nerfed damage on anti-airs, nerfed fireballs, and v-ism is significantly more unpleasant than custom combo
anti-airs are literally useless in a3, specials in general are mostly useless, supers are useless
a3 is the worst sf that still gets played
I hope Capcom introduce community challenges for every month. Just like what DICE did for BF4 and BF3, you know.
>The platform who gets the most amount of perfects throughout this month gets a week of 2x fight money
>The platform that lands more CAs gets to design or choose a new title and icon
>The platform with more [insert character] wins will get to chose a new alt costume for that character
I don't know about you guys, but I think that this would be pretty nice. What do you anons think.?
stop bulling muh boy Roo combofiend
PC is not a dead platform.
Many people are going to choose the PC version since the game will have crossplay. Your average Joe won't know how/or care to turn crossplay off.
It can work.
Also the challenges would be against the other platform. The amount of character wins only count if you won against someone from a different platform.
I think this is a shitty idea. Which ever platform has a higher number of users has inherently better odds. You could do it via percentages I guess. But beyond the entire idea is retarded in the place and promotes console-war tribalism which really serves no purpose but to create animosity within the community.
They are already planning to do dailies, which will probably be random for each person so you don't have 70% of online players trying to get 4 SPDs in a single round. Be happy with that anon.
1 hour friends
I guess you guys are right.
She's wearing an open leather jacket if it can be called one.
Not that's anything wrong with it, but how is it better than some traditional(Laura) and not so traditional(Mika) cleavage? It's all cleavage.
i just came back from an anime convention
they had every fighting game set up but xrd. they had ggxxslash which is bizarre.
some naruto fighter and skullgirls had a lot of spectators. the tvs had 1 second of lag. also i never want to see homestuck shit again.
anything new in fighting games?
Not-TrippleH guy really wants Akuma in the game.
And the PS4beta is up.
Every day until Maki is confirmed for SFV.
I was waiting for some shit like this before I decided which platform to get it on.
>no performance issues, only possible mess up is connection
>less pad options
>more pad options
its one thing to worry about potential wireless/poor connections. its another to have to worry about someone who has a shit comp and a thing like macros existing.
Half of each tit is out. That's pretty out there and definitely not traditional. You'd break your neck if you saw this in real life.
>Cerebrawl is a 2v2 4-player fighting game from Zero Dimension, a small team based out of Seattle.
>Cerebrawl is heavily inspired by games such as Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter: Third Strike.
Reposting this shit. Support these niggas, maybe Cerebrawl will be good.
Tac Knight is OG as fuck though
amazing how no one in america can make a decent looking fighter
mk x is fugly as fuck
skullgirls is an abomination
killer instinct is shocking
cerebrawl has the worst character design I've seen in a fighter in years
Middle ground relative to your conservative standards of how a women should dress?
I bet your mom didn't let you watch national geographic because of indigenous African boobies
no dude, the character design is fugly and the style is shit, it's like a combination of kill la kill and john k. bleagh
and yet it's the best looking fighter from america, pretty much ever
As a brazilian, I do not feel represented.
Please don't bring Blanka EVER again. But for other reasons
To be fair I really like the idea of modding and messing with games. But they need to figure out a way to isolate competitive online play from general fucking around and thats difficult to do because there's always some skiddie who wants to ruin it for everyone.
tourney starting soon
This beta stress test is giving me a headache. I'm practicing as Karin, but when I get a match it puts me as Rasheed, then when I get out of the fight and go to the menu to check things, it disconnects and doesn't reconnect for 5+ minutes
>using macros in a fighting game with easy combos
This won't be an issue.
As for shit comps, Capcom should use the benchmark grading system like they did in Ultra and just give the option to filter out low grades.
>getting rid of Cammy's crHP Crush Counter
Tired of your shit Combokek.
A is way better because it has air blocking and that shit is OP as hell
X ism is scrub mode, you do more damage and your controls are easier but you dont have as many/different options and can't airblock which gets you destroyed
Is lag making throws too powerful or is everyone just terrible at breaking? Almost all of my matches as Ryu so far have been AA practice and tick throw after tick throw and they never break.
>Chun Li comes up
>Round 1 alternates between pokes at just the right range and dashing in for throws, kicks my shit in
>Round 2 is starting to do the same thing but I start catching her pokes by baiting and sweeping, squeak out a win
>Round 3 getting my ass kicked, 1/3 health with Chun at nearly full
>land a sweep, land a crossup into super
>Chun jumps at me
>hit V-trigger and shoryuken
Im tired but i tried my best, im not very good at drawing hair
Anyone know if Mika will be available during the stress test at any point?
I'm fine beating down scrubs with Ryu but I'd much rather be grappling and whipping and corner resetting than using c.mk fireball and j.mk into combo/tick throw
every char has 2 crush counters, unless they do the same with everyone then it's temporary, don't worry. She was the first char to have 2 crush counters and even had her standing HP as crush counter in one build, they're just messing around with her normals
I mean, I've definitely come across a Laura that was trying to crouch tech and it didn't work out for them, but most just seem to be blocking on wakeup when I step back expecting a reversal. If they were crouch teching I'd see a c.lk
That said I'm happy to hear crouch teching is no longer a thing, makes the oki more interesting.
>it's wrong if someone makes new content out of a thing that wasn't made specifically for SF anyway
its when you punch niggas so hard they spin for over 45 frames of hitstun allowing you to combo extra shit
I think they're trying to avoid a throw? I was surprised to see an opponent in a Ryu mirror neutral jump out of a throw on wakeup. I recovered quickly enough that it didn't matter, but it was...interesting.
Also this has been happening a lot:
>safe jump/crossup into tick throw 3-4 times
>they finally break the throw
>they then immediately start pressing buttons and get sweeped and crossed up again
>repeat 3-4 times before they block the sweep
Like I said, you recover from whiffed throws fast enough to block or AA. That would only work on a SPD which Ryu doesn't have and I wouldn't use naked on wakeup when you can just as easily jab and tick SPD
If you hit someone when their attack is coming out with an attack that can crush counter it will trigger the crush counter animation, and the word "crush counter" will appear on the side of your character's screen, just like this: >>121539684
"Pokes" should be pretty self explanatory
"Footsies" is moving back and forth at the tip of your and your opponent's effective ranges and throwing out pokes
"Zoning" is using projectiles or other tools to keep the opponent at a distance
"Oki" means wakeup game. As in, the guessing game that's played when a player is knocked down and their opponent has time to throw out a move
"Meaty" refers to an attack whose active frames (the frames where the attack can hurt you) coincide with the first frame of a player standing up from a knockdown.
"tech" is short for "throw tech", which means breaking an opponent's throw by pressing throw yourself.
A "Counter Hit" is when you hit the opponent while they're in the startup frames of a move. A move that counter hits will stun the opponent longer than it normally would, allowing for combos that would otherwise be impossible
>unironically using the term 'lmao' and 'senpai' while simultaneously telling someone else to grow up
>half the people showed up for alpha 3
im glad they upgraded jam.
she was always just the token chinese character before
What did they upgrade her to? As far as I know she's still just the boring token Chinese character, but now she's so shit that she's worse than Potemkin so now nobody is going to want to play her
Honestly, the fact that a filter by platform option even exists scares me. imo, it might suggest they're not confident in the quality of crossplay connections and are already expecting serious issues with it at launch.
The point of these betas is to test connections. Why would they give you the option to avoid playing games that could give them valuable crossplay data?
Will taking female hormones make me better at Xrd?
it would probably just add more problems
one of the dc emulators has netplay but its insanely laggy and no one plays it
no one has completely cracked the naomi boards yet and there isn't enough interest to finish it
>No one posts the tournament picture during threads to remind people
>Sniffshitters prevent tournament pictures from being the OP
>SFV surprise beta test
Not even surprised.
Well at least i didn't get completely btfo. Best of lucky to those who beat me.
agree with you, fucking love the weird & crazy 3s akuma
crazy juggles, crazy theme, crazy stage, A+
also dat fucking max SA, always fun to land even though SA1 is more efficient
are you a flipper baby? I don't get it.
you do realize that "white people are bad at fighting games" is just a meme, right?
it's more like white people live in the suburbs.
>you do realize that "white people are bad at fighting games" is just a meme, right?
kneegrow, where are arcades located?
then what's genetically wrong with you?
honestly it sounds like your race is the least of your worries bud.
you lack confidence.
i don't think it has anything to do with my race, i was just born a failure. anons made it about race, not me
confidence is not possible to have if you are unsuccessful at everything
still, you said you were born with inferior genetics. you're attributing being a failure to your genetics?
I think it's your attitude anon.
how long have you been playing fighting games?
yes, but more specifically they're in cities.
densely populated and filled with a lot of
- you cant juggle ex hado anymore
- tatsu cant cross up anymore ( that was obviously too op )
- extremely slow overhead
- st.hk ( aka one of his best move ) cant hit crouch and leave your balls open ( literally ) despit capcom wanting us to spam that shit anywhere when you look closely
- you cant juggle srk after air to air mp
- you cant juggle anything after lp.srk srk
- you cant juggle srk in the corner after lk.tatsu
- cant juggle anything after j.f air tatsu
- his fireballs ( except denjin ) are nearing the assness of Oni hado in SF4 in term of speed and frame data
- i will not even start comparing his normals
- no cr.hp after solar plexus
do you have a match of yours we could see?
it's much easier to help you out if we can see how you play.
if you're losing to mashing there's a lack of diagnosis on your part. if you don't understand what you're doing wrong you won't improve.
First Vega, now Ryu.
The game isn't even out yet and I'm already not liking Capcom's approach to balancing.
Didn't Peter say they were going to buff weak characters instead of nerfing strong ones this time around? Why the fuck do they keep taking these characters' fun tools away?
It's still in beta, all of the changes they make aren't necessarily because that's the direction they want the character to go in. Sometimes they make changed just to see how it affects the character, that's a part of the development process.
Decent bait. It's easy, not original in the least, and not very creative, but you got me to respond so I'll give it a 6.5/10
Yes, Smash is a fighting game. It's obviously not a traditional fighting game, but it still fits that genre better than anything else
"Party game" is not a real genre. Any game that has multiplayer can be a "party game"
you can then say the same thing about "fighting game"
what does it mean to be a fighting game? The characters fight? Well in that case what is fighting? Is dark souls fighting? Is Halo fighting? Do you see how absolutely mongolicly retarded you are?
I consider Smash to be a viable competitive game, but not a fighter. I'd consider them separate, but closer to each other than other competitive games, which are generally Shooters (FPS/TPS) or RTS/MOBAs.
If Smash is a fighting game then so is Halo 2.
to me it shows a huge lack of confidence. I don't think there's a method behind it, they're just so terrified of making a mistake they're not letting anyone have strong tools at all. even stuff that's obviously not that good like chun's air combos from the trailer. either this team needs to grow some balls or the fundamental game better be rock fucking solid.
>Smash has many of the same mechanics
Not really. I mean if you mean mechanics in a super broad sense like it has throws then sure, but there are plenty of games that do things like that but aren't fighting games. Monday Night Combat had throws. You avoided them by jumping. Doesn't make it a fighting game.
Shocker, common concepts in combat apply to other forms of combat. Every form of combat has footsies for example, even with guns. Strategies like spacing and conditioning are universal.
>Halo is not similar to a fighting game
1v1? Check. Make a custom game and set it to 1v1.
Health bars? Check. You can see your health/shield in the UI, and when it reaches 0 you die.
Normals? Check. There's a melee button and also energy swords.
Combos? Check. Double/Triple/Quad shot, Needler canceled into BR, etc.
Mixups? Check. Frag/Stickies and manouvering over/under obstacles.
Different characters? Check. The weapons you wield make up your character.
Frame traps? Check. You can tap them with melee once to take down their shield and then frame trapping by switching to a gun and shooting them.
Time limit? Check. Time limit is very similar to a Smash match.
Halo 2 is a fighting game.
>karin ewgf -a million on block now, pressure dumbed down to single pokes or into lk upkicks
Except it does. All of the basic fighting game mechanics, plus frame traps, mixups, combos, option selects, parrying, zoning, poking and counterpoking, offensive pressure/corner pressure..
All of it is in Smash.
None of those things are exclusive to fighting games though you idiot. Devil May Cry has all of those things, is Devil May Cry a fighting game?
Oh, and all these mechanics are applied in an extremely similar manner to a traditional fighter. Honestly Smash is only about as different compared to a 2d fighter as Tekken is. They all have the same basic concepts, strategies and mechanics that make them fighting games.
the game isnt out yet so technically they dont have to stay true to their whole "buff weaker characters" if the game isnt finalized then how do they know what the ceiling is for "too strong" or "too weak" like lets say this version of vega was 3S yun/yang/ken/makoto tier and they wanted the characters to be more of remy/elena tier . then they have to find that spot by nerfing characters right now to say okay THIS is where the characters should be this is how strong they are. and dont start your argument about "fun" because it is highly subjective so dont even try.
also 3s is a shit game/spoiler]
Wrong. Not only is Devil May Cry not a multiplayer game, but there is no blocking, mixups, footsies, or even remotely advanced frame trapping anywhere to be found. Not to mention zoning and footsies are almost completely pointless because there is no need to outsmart an AI. There's also no premium on space control because space is not limited and it essentially has no competitive elements when it comes to the balance of the game, unlike other fighting games- including smash which has surprisingly carefully designed characters and intricate strategies that create a real metagame.
>and all these mechanics are applied in an extremely similar manner to a traditional fighter
Except for the part where the damage and health is completely different, the goal of the game is completely different, the stage design is completely different, hitstun is different, gameplay is different, the mechanics don't work the same, so on and so forth etcetera etcetera.
Except you're wrong because none of those things have much bearing on the most important aspects of the game. Footsies, offense, defense, mixups and mindgames are all essentially the same. The only part that's different is that you are rewarded for hitting the opponent by knocking them offstage, where they enter a mixup game in your favour that allows you to win a stock(round). Everything that happens before this phase is pretty much the same; the neutral is incredibly similar to many 2d fighters, even.
Actually, let me break this down even more.
>damage and health are different
Doesn't affect how the basic strategies of landing a hit work, only that the punish game is somewhat different.
>the goal of the game is completely different
Except you're pursuing this goal in essentially the same way with the same strategies. Again, only really applies to the punish game which is Smash's main gimmick as a fighter.
>stage design is completely different
Not really. Stage control and spacing still work almost exactly the same except with a more vertical emphasis due to platforms- but this doesn't fundamentally alter how the stage is controlled by much.
>hitstun is different
Only affects the punish game, not the game's real strategy which is in offense, defense and the neutral state.
>the mechanics don't work the same
Except for the most part they do.
New Jojo's trailer for anyone interested.
The 3rd frame is not him posting, it's his inner monologue about how Smash is the best fighting game ever, and instead of joining likeminded individuals who would love to talk about Smash, he instead goes to /fgg/ where there is next to no Smash discussion to begin with and when there is, it's always arguing about whether it is or is not a fighting game.
...are you actually autistic?
how could you not reason out that interpretation, it's incredibly obvious. the other version works as well but the original is fine the way it is.
English subs trailer.
Then stop posting shit about how it isn't a fighting game.
>/fgg/ says smash isn't a fighting game
>point out that it is and give well reasoned arguments on why it is
>"LOL NOBODY CARES IF SMASH IS A FIGHTING GAME WHY DID YOU BRING IT UP IN THE FIRST PLACE"
Do you not see how stupid you are?
Smash is a fighting game, anon. It isn't a traditional 2D fighting game, nor is it a 3D fighting game, but it would probably fit in the subgenre of fighting games that everyone is mimicing which is Sumo Fighter which the objective is to push your opponent off the stage.
