Reminder that Bowser takes the most brain power.
Reminder that shitposting takes the least brain power
My favorite characters happens to not be top 15.
>Waitu is NOT a good reason!
He's maining the best girl though so he gets a free pass.
Lucina is not best girl!
>he does not find the best characters fun
Insecurity is not a good reason!
Peach's results are not higher than Mario!
Yoshi has no results!
Luigi's results are not higher than Diddy!
The fight has been settled! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG2c_aRDXGI
Marcina/Mario MU is a fair 50/50 or maybe 53/47 in Mario's favor
Mario can beat them upclose, but his range is less than theirs and can sometimes get juggled by Uair and Utilt.
Out of the Mario Bros + Doc, Mario's the hardest and Luigi's the easiest due to how EZ money it is to gimp Luigi + his poor mobility
DC is trash though, I could've (and would've) represented best girl better.
CONFIRMED BRAINDEAD CHARACTERS
Diddy Kong - Confirmation Method: Nerf
Results - Many Diddy Kong players such as Jtails and Aerolink who had high placings at majors dropped off the map completely
Luigi - Confirmation Method: Nerf
Results - Poyo
Donkey Kong - Confirmation Method: Buff
Results - Players who had never touched the character quickly placed top 8 in regionals right after the Ding Dong
Ness - Confirmation Method: Metagame Advancement
Results - The exploits in Ness' playstyle lead to many Ness players falling out of Top 8 placings
OTHER CHARACTERS MAY OR MAY NOT BE BRAINDEAD BUT HAVE NOT HAD CONFIRMATION EVENTS.
Because he is my favourite character of Nintendo and in general. I also really like tanky characters and characters with very clear exploitable weaknesses with pronounced strengths. Koopa fits all of these.
>Confirmation Method: Metagame Advancement
ness is doing about the same he always has. people are just bitching less because they realized he's not THAT great, and has some insurmountable weaknesses. he's even gotten buffed like 2 or 3 times
>mfw still haven't beat Classic 9.0 without losing a stock on Wii U
This is all I really, really want to do in Smash 4. I have tried so many times but just one 8 player Smash I get torn to ribbons. How do I do this without any customs? Has anyone else here managed to do it?
Since people were talking about character difficulty earlier.
desu senpai, marth doesn't go that high when spacing is the only thing seperating him from lucina, not the rest of the description. Not to mention his combos are never true past 2-3 hits. rest of this isn't too bad but people are gonna be mad cause they got bodied by a sheik/rosa/zss on fg cause they couldn't adapt.
To learn the fundamentals you should play a character in the E ranking. These characters force you to learn when to punish and how to read, and generally how to play safe, because that is all they can do. If you fuck up with one of those characters, you are typically going to be punished hard. Their linear, non-demanding playstyle basically narrows it down to learning strong fundamentals.
Eventually but until you get down the basics, there's little chance of actually applying anything advanced you learn. Which is why Mario, Pit, Yoshi, etc are good learners characters because they teach the basis of the game without relying on heavy gimmicks (pac man) or character specific techniques (pikachu) that don't translate well between characters. On 3DS I actually started playing mostly with Pit, Robin, and Olimar. Currently I main ZSS and keep Pit as a secondary for the Pikachu matchup. Recently I've been putting in work with sheik, peach, and greninja to try to understand the uses and limits of their character specific tools.
The list says absolutely nothing about balance or fairness. It's (supposed to be) designed to give people an idea of what they're going into picking up a character. Has inconsistencies but the descriptions for the tiers are right.
You're really overestimating her. You know she's gonna be approaching with aerials and she's gonna want the grab. She has lots of mixup options but if she doesn't get the grab she has a much harder time winning. Not to mention every whiffed grab is a big punish.
With the exception to luigi, he's in there for a different reason.
Not sure what you're getting at. Optimally extended combos and punishes with Sheik (who is basically lagless) can come down to basically frame perfect inputs. It obviously varies, but Sheik at an optimal level is among the hardest.
Reminder that the keyword is optimal, this isn't a list of how difficult it is to win with characters. It is difficult to win with Lucina, but to play her is literally 1 dimensional. No AT, combo game, no precise inputs, etc. Extremely low skill ceiling.
By "Astral Authority" its probably not gonna last too long considering last week on twitter he was talking about finding a girl to suck his dick on the subway train.
He's super unprofessional and will probably get thrown off for being twitter cancer soon enough.
i just wanted to play video games
Haven't done it on Wii U, because I'm too cheap to buy a console, but I literally just did it on 3ds last night.
Feeling like pic related.
Yeah, her grounded options are mostly shit so that forces an aerial playstyle. Her aerials are have uses in every situation though. The approach moves that are safe on shield, but only in properly spaced. Two of which confirm her grab. Multiple aerials and projectiles that can be used as combo starters. Her combos are very DI dependent. DI away on down throw doesn't lead into up air strings. Misspacing up air due to her high vertical momentum, air speed, and run speed means that a second up air or up b will not connect. It can still be followed up on with correct frame of mind to know which direction the first up air will send them. She has very reliable horizontal combos and safe kill options that don't come from her grab but they all require careful spacing and timing, particularly with her flip kick. And the fact that her best combo starter, her grab, is so easy to punish on whiff forces her to be precise with it.
>easy classic mode
Fun games Falkore. Nice to fight to fight Ike again.
>all these ganoncides
I'm not sorry for any one of them shit had laughing, enjoy your webms.
>difficult to play
I managed it after ungodly effort on the 3DS but the Wii U one still has me boggled. It's weird cause the 3DS the AI has higher knockback by default and in doubles if your ally dies too early, you have almost always lost.
Wii U on the other hand singles is easier and no default kb boost but the AI will gang up on you 7vs1 on any 8 player or 6 player Smash barring 2v2v2. Its crazy.
How is 9.0 on 3ds any easier than Wii U? Master Core's first form is a pain in the dick on there.
I'm actually legitimately asking how it's hArder. I'm not just baiting. I haven't played the Wii U version enough to know.
ZSS requires very high game awareness. She relies on consistently executing combos which lead into kill confirms. She has possibly the most character-specific knowedge required, every situation must be accounted for at all times, because her killing combos change based on a large number of factors.
It takes a very smart person to play ZSS optimally. I put her in B tier because she is still a bit flowcharty and does not require the APM of Sheik or Ryu and does not have the terribly difficult combos and infinites that Pacman and Peach have.
She gets landing coverage out of jab, spacee coverage out of up tilt, and pressure/combos out of down smash. The REST of her grounded options of shit. Jab is only a get off me option with very situational mixups. Up tilt is only a get off me option. Down smash is the best. Her other tilts and smashes are all crap.
Master core has an entire other form on wiiu
>most character-specific knowledge
I wouldn't go that far. Peach, Ryu, Pac Man, Rosalina all take way more.
Almost the entirety of Wario's gameplay relies on hitting the wofts. He is a very campy character who doesn't have a great deal of options or advanced tech. As for unique movement options, he's only really got the bike.
Wario is not easy, but he's not particularly difficult either.
up tilt>up smash
Less startup, same intangibility, more damage (unless you get the grounded hit of up smash which means it wasn't an anti-air. Only thing up smash has really is range
Its Smash Run on steroids with hazardous (read:fatal) walls which will kill you if you get hit by it over 100%. You need to locate and destroy 4 hearts which belong to Master Core, each one protected by a range of dark versions of Smash Run monsters. So long as you don't go ham or have experience in Smash Run, you should be ok. It nearly drove me insane when I tried it the first time though.
He has run turn around cancels that no other character really uses. He's not reliant on hitting waft either. He can camp well but do you know what it's like to camp with a character with no projectiles? It takes a lot of awareness to play wario properly and he has way more options in his gameplay than most characters including marth, and requires someone to be very slippery. Trust me when I say he's very good but very hard.
He takes a lot of thought, and is in my opinion one of the most thoughtful characters on the whole roster.
You both sound like you know ZSS very well. As someone who hates to fight ZSS, how are you to combat her short hop fast fall n-airs, tethers and reverse stun gun? The last ZSS I fought barely touched the ground, n-aired until my shield was practically gone, n-aired or stun gunned me into a grab for the u-air u-special kill combo.
As Bowser, what are my options and how do I get through that impenetrable tether and n-air wall?
Zero has been pretty critical about anyone who is below top or high tier. Especially in my mains video where he was ill informed enough to not know of auto cancel air attacks.
The Mac video is the best example as it took the co-commentator to essentially balance Zero's usual "this character is super hard/unviable" view. If not for the other commentator, Zero would have said the same thing.
sit still and I'll end it quick
Break her space. Bowser's run speed isn't the slowest, and ZSS Nair has about 9 frames of startup. If you can get past the max range of nair/zair/bair, all of them are punishable on shield, and Bowser's Up b is decent for that. The stun gun you'll have to shield and try to get past the range where it's safe. Tether grab, if the ZSS is smart you won't see it until it's confirmed. Tether recovery, your only real option is to hope the ZSS always jumps>down b. A lot of ZSS mains do that though so once you read it, just wait where the down b ends and up smash it for free every time. Up smash actually keeps ZSS from landing on him at all. I know bowser's a defensive character but you have to approach ZSS every chance you get.
Power shield like you're fighting duck hunt. Don't give her enough time to empty hop grab. Don't down tilt the ledge cause flip kick doesn't care. Don't wait in the corner for an opening cause ZSS doesn't give one. And don't EVER get off the ground if you can help it. Matchup is still going to be shit but this is your best chance. Hope you're a better player than the ZSS
Yeah its not a nice MU but I didn't know they were punishable on shield, I was pretty much stuck. By the sounds of it though in not going into the air, it seems like my short hop f-airs were essentially suicide and I was a sitting duck when there were opportunities. So I essentially need to play this MU rushdown instead of turtle.
I doubt I'd be a better player than most of the ZSS vetsbut I'd at least be happy to go in that I'm fighting for that 30 in the 70:30 (or 80:20) at the best of my ability.
Thanks for getting back though. One last question, what is the optimal way for me to SDI when I am in the hazardous u-air to up-b combo?
>di'ing out of the end of the world
It's funny but there are many different spacings where the up b will connect. Some of them, the final hit will connect. Luckily, very few of them are completely guaranteed. If you're just right above and in front of ZSS, you're dead. If you are slightly too high, you can SDI up and get out (zero died to this because he was already too high anyway). If you're too close to ZSS' body, you can SDI up and toward her to pop out the back. If you're too far away, you can SDI up and away and pop out.
Aim for the top. Super armor is right before he rises. The sword is mostly in front of him. He rises the same distance so just put a spike up there
A good Mac will do the opposite. He'll shove you off center stage and hold there. There was a mock diagram of where Mac is OP and where Mac is terrible, that being the middle for the former and everywhere else for the second.
This is true. Mac is phenomenal at covering ground but he's also horrifyingly vulnerable if he is near the edge no matter the %. A smart Mac who is near the middle requires at least two good hits or throws to get off-stage. Not only that, he also holds the advantage in the neutral. One who camps the edge needs one pivot and air attack to die.
Killing an opponent that doesn't know how to tech is not noteworthy, anyone who was half decent could have escaped from that.
Webm related, probably the worst tech-er of all time
Wario is all about hitting wofts. Practice the timing and employ mindgames. ZSS dies at like 30% or less. Also some moves true combo into wofts, though I'm not positive what the setups are because I don't play Wario,
>stay in the air
I don't see where I said that. I said stay on the ground at all times. Get under her when you can. And that's a bowser thing but a lot of similar characters too. If you're Olimar, Villager, Diddy, etc, get in the air as much as possible because it's a lot harder for her to catch small bodies with good range. Nair hits diagonally down and that's her best neutral tool. She can poke with with zair but those characters don't fall to the ground to get grabbed. Villager in particular can air-to-air her every time and since her grounded tools aren't as good, the matchup gets pretty bad.
Bowser's huge af and can't outrange her so in the air she her tools work better.
That's the thing. If you watch high level Warios, most of the time they literally space around the whole game while poking at the opponent until they get a woft. No reason to challenge ZSS when you aren't gonna get much out of it. ZSS can't really camp.
A random thought here but as Bowser, do you think well timed crouches would help me in the neutral at all?
I am talking mainly to counter her short hop air attacks. Normally I'm super, SUPER big and an easy target. Crouching makes me wider but lowers my height by a reasonable margin. It also forces her, on paper, to re-align her n-air spacing. Does this, from your view, sound viable or is this just me hopelessly theory crafting?
Since it's already optimal to nair pretty low, most ZSS players won't struggle too bad with it. Bowser's crouch is still as tall as most normal characters that she likes to nair. Now Sheik or Pikachu, their crouches are the devil for ZSS.
>Now Sheik or Pikachu, their crouches are the devil for ZSS.
Pro Sheiks almost never crouch in the matchup though, there's no need when powershielding and her incredible movement exists.
Pikachu is the fucking devil though for any human sized character.
Alright well, that's that out the window. Though the thought of it lowering me to normal char standard sounds kind of good for potentially closing the distance.
Thanks again, I appreciate the advice anon. I just wish I had a ZSS to practice with.
Spacing mostly, with good punisheds.
There are a number of sheiks that when applying passive pressure, especially to enemies off stage, will simply crouch to ruin a lot of aerial spacings and avoid the higher shield stun they'd suffer. Plus this position keeps open all their options unlike a mistimed power shield any aerial position.
Sheik can perform a rising fair or sh nair in basically every power shield situation. There is really no reason to crouch.
The only time to crouch would be in cases like a Fox who you know is going to open with lazer spam, crouchwalking will allow you to approach unharmed. Ditto for Thoron / arcthunder.
If you imagine sheik's hurtboxes when crouching and standing, crouching hurtbox is much small so a hitbox that would hit standing sheik might whiff. If you shield off of a crouch, you go back to standing up, even if there is already a hitbox in the location, but it automatically becomes a power shield. Basically, you have a smaller hurtbox while crouching, and switch to the shield (which covers the taller hurtbox) in one frame.
This is true but against stronger aerials or ones with electrical properties, you'll suffer shield stun that extends the length even of the perfect shield. When those moves whiff completely due to crouching, you have more frames to punish.
>people who don't ignore and/or report
come on senpai
Anyone want to 1v1?
*chomps this thread*
Aximus Maximus first of his name, gimper of spacies, scrubber of dishes, master of pikachus, champion of the mid tier, pride of Arizona, fighter for the storm of tempo, friend to the yung link, Drake of the land of Walgreens, bringer of the hype, swaggiest of all the smashers, and four stocker of an unreasonably quiet wolf.
Who /never gonna have a 70% or higher FG win rate/ here
Why the fuck won't they let MK have his brawl U-air
I feel like he should have ridiculously good combos if he's gonna have no neutral game apart from dash attacks and teleport cape mixups
>can't decide on a main
Not feeling any of these characters at all
This game kinda sucks
Anyone wants do have some dubs?
Feeling way better after talking with a friend
>i could do it, if i wanted
>n-not like it matters or anything
guess i must've hit a nerve. don't take it so seriously anon.
Enough shitposting. Buff your main/sub without breaking them.
-Gains PM quickdraw
-Less knockback on dthrow
-Nair is safe on block
-Fair has less landing recovery
-Super Armor on all parts of eruption
-Can grab out of down b if he didnt do the followup
-down smash has more knockback
-nair has more active frames and 50% range increase
Enough shitposting. Buff your Melee main/sub without breaking them.
Dsmash knockback increased enough to KO
upB better for recovery
Upair and dair KB increased
Faster neutral and sideb
Would give him a really nice option for edgeguarding. It's kind of easy to get past Ike to get to the ledge unless your name is Ness or something.
You have to be 18 to use this website.
-Complete Super Armor on Warlock Punch (Grounded and Aerial) and Utilt
-Super Armor at the start of Up-B
-Add a weak hitbox at the end of Side-B similar to Up-B
-Jab comes out 1-2 frames faster
-Side-Tilt comes out 1-2 frames faster
-Fair has slightly increased base knockback and slightly less end lag
-Increase Knockback on Dair
-Slightly increased Air Speed
Oh, and increased grab range and 1-2 frames less end lag.
And make Dair auto-cancel again.
Thank you, Mashedpotato Samurai.
>roleplays and avatarfags as guts
>acts like an edgy faggot
>lowers thread quality when he goes on his bitchfits like he did with chronos earlier
he's the real cancer here
The worst thing about falkore is that he vehemently insists he's not part of the "cancer" here when he keep shitting up the place.
At least shitposters like moxy and rakky know they are shit but just don't care.
Default Fem Robin is best, Pink is okay.
Just got this beautiful white controller as an early birthday gift and I couldn't be happier. I don't have to use my pro controller anymore!
Would anyone like to play with me? I am fine with dubs as well. My NNID is Falafei.
Robin is so weird. You're literally not allowed to spam any moves without putting it on the bench. What's up with that? It's not like those spells and that sword would be OP if they were there constantly, would they?
I didn't think you would be able to see my Bloodborne case..but its exactly why I own it. The souls series is phenomenal, can you imagine if Aritorias was in Smash? Haha.
Would you like to play Jacob?
1v1? You want to host?
Because nobody looks as cool as Samus!
I had a dream last night Ridley was a playable character. I haven't even considered Ridley having a ghost of a chance since before his shadow had been shown as a boss. Being a metroid fag is suffering.
Just a reminder to throw ideas for which models we should use for the virtual soccer /vg/ tournament. I'm keeping track of the few suggestion thus far. You can check the current roster here http://implyingrigged.info/wiki//ssbg/
I'll probably won't ask again until I have all the obvious models done, but in the meantime have a preview of the /ssbg/ stadium. inb4 >brawl it was the only model that I found that was easy to work with for this.
Just a warning.
Do not accept BTS into your community.
so first time I fight this guy he's Mac so I abuse the shit out SideB to Dtilt
guy wants a rematch this time he's Ryu and I think Ryu can't be hit SideB to whatever so I hardly do it I did finish of his last stock game1 with sideB to Fsmash
then game2 he runs into a charging Fsmash on his second and no contests
Anthers doesn't know how to have fun, the player base there is whiny as fuck
Diddy has more range, more damage, guaranteed kill set-ups, kills earlier, and weighs more. The only thing I can think of that Chu has over Diddy is a better recovery, which doesn't matter since Diddy doesn't rely on edgeguards to kill.
If you shield the banana you can avoid but otherwise no. Dtilt usmash at the percent it kills is most likely unavoidable, at later percents you can try DIing up and away. Its now more unavoidable ever since they buffed his usmash making it connect better. And there's lots of reasons why pikachu wins it, to me its pretty awful for diddy.
Does the shield have to be a perfect shield? I shielded it a lot but I still got grabbed every time.
Could you elaborate on the match-up more? I'm curious what Chu has to get over >>121428273.
How do I beat Bowser? I understand that he isn't an exceptional character or anything, but my friend mains him and I can't quite ever seem to beat him in a 1v1. I usually play Villager, Wario, and I'm learning Ike right now. I can't seem to be able to handle his pressure and end up getting killed from bad reads or the damn super armor. Any tips?
>losing to bowser
Just Lloid and Fair all day like the cheap character Noskillager is.
Don't think so unless you can't get out now with the added shield stun I guess. Pikachu just overwhelms diddy when he gets in, easily gimps him and just outright beats his neutral. You said pikachu has no guaranteed kill set ups but in this matchup he can just take bananas and do whatever after hitting diddy with it like a free usmash.
Ike annihilates him
He cant do jack shit about your ftilt and if he gets hit by dtilt he's combo fodder. He can't down b because of counter, and Ike is the one character he doesn't want to trade with because they do similar damage but ike can space him out.
When he no contested I was gonna ask the guy if he wanted to redo that game but oh well
Well they provide some entertainment
>boss of this Gym something that looks like that gay porn video
Because WFT is fun.
I tried the top tiers that'd interest me, they(Rosaluma, ZSS, Falcon, Villy, Mario and Pikachu) bored me. Only ones that can keep my interest is Ryu and Peach.
Villager is to Tic Tac Toe as Ganondorf is to speed chess.
Up b and b, you need to use them a lot vs diddy. I don't think you ever used up b to get around only when offstage. Also pikachu can go way deep offstage to gimp diddy which I also barely saw you do.
Gives him more options, gets around easier and harder to chase down. It's not something that completely hurts diddy but its easier to deal with pikachu when he's not all over the place.
Try running and as soon as Ike looks like he's going to get into his sprint animation, turn around and at the same time, tilt the C-stick in the opposite direction or press A and the opposite direction.
This explains it better and they have a list of the timing for each of the characters and the space they cover.
>come back home from work
>m2k is in critical condition after getting into a car accident
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
alright so the only ones left now are Host, >Project Meme and >tfw not on the list
So uhh, anyone want to do some dubs?
My friends might be down, let me see if I can get them to play.
who 1v1 here?
Alright, man, gonna host in a minute.
Its too bad he sucks and wouldnt put up a good fight to even be worth my time
>declined from dubs after being the second person wanting to do dubs
Sorry, my friends took up the slots. Wish you made a post earlier.
I went to a local for the first time today. I played a couple matches, lost early against equally awful players and didn't get any advice. Good players didn't want to play me so I just got to play some casuals with fellow scrubs.
Am I missing something? How do I git gud? I don't think I learned anything from that experience.
Could someone describe what their (positive) experience at a local is usually like, since I feel rather disappointed and don't know if I did something wrong because I'm an autist or if locals are just not good places to learn smash bros.
GGs. I think we played everyone except maybe Lucas and Yoshi.
Rosalina I think we didn't play then again
You don't get git gud in just a day or week or month it's a process. You should try to play and practice as much as you can, save replays where you lose and study them, watch videos of your main to get more ideas. As for locals play as many friendlies as you can, locals vary so not everyone is nice or whatever but there should always be at least 2 or 3 people that are willing to play you. Try to keep going regularly and soon enough you'll start placing higher and higher, don't expect to just do really good at your first tournaments. From my experience at my local I just sat down alone at a set up to warm up my hands and one of the ranked players just came over and asked if I wanted to play and we did like 10 friendlies before the tournament so it was pretty great.
I usually only get to play friendlies against the good players before the tournament starts since they're always early and I'm usually one of the first ones there. Since they're good they're always in the bracket late after all. Try getting there earlier.
was pretty obvious when you see how they all act in synchtube/chazo circlejerks, plus shitposting would mostly stop when those went on. It was just a matter of pinning down the posts to the specific cancerfags
