OK quick timeline question I'm confused about

In genocide run chara states that the checked date on the calendar is the day she fell, late 201X. So everything with Asriel and such happens within a year or so, since the memorial fountain is also 201X. Which means Asgore must have declared war on humans, still in the 201Xs. Six human souls harvested back to back before frisk jumps in, maybe even people he knew.

So why does Toriel act like it was so rare for a human to fall in the hole when they were jumping in every few months right before that? The initial mood I had was that it had all happened ages ago

What would you do to him /utg/?

one of my favorite things about undertale is that, for all its complex variations on your choices in the game, it still has the balls to point out that they don't really matter. the genocide ending has an inevitability to it that's hinted at throughout the game, because the game knows it's a game.

in a digital environment where no matter what the game does, no matter what files it places where, the player can overcome them through determination, your choices ultimately have no weight to them. and why should they? the game is, at its core, a silly romp with a bombastic friendship anime ending. and i think it's fucking hilarious that, with fallout 4 coming out, with life is strange crashing its ending with no survivors, with telltale still doing shit, with this persistent meme of having epic games where your choices matter, a small indie game can make them all look like a bunch of incompetent retards while still winking at the screen and saying "hey, we both know how this goes." god i fucking love undertale.

I was thinking maybe a game based around getting home (for dinner, pie, etc, etc...) before everyone else. Everyone takes up a character card maybe with some specific special cards for each. The rough idea I have consists of that the group of characters must overcome "Challenges" drawn from a center deck. Getting home isn't exactly easy in the underground and the challenges consist of rolling dice to clear obstacles, events inspired by the game or (of course) battles. The kicker is that while you are trying to get home first before everyone else you can impede their progress by (somehow) screwing with their challenges, mucking up their battle efforts or outright "killing" them. On the other hand you can go a pacifist route and team up with players to share the victory, through giving bonuses to their challenges and using their mercy moves.

The game can be adjusting in difficulty from a "A quick jog." to "A Journey".
