Why did the Rutile Ruby tell you to keep and load the .code file? All it does is prevent the game from booting and/or reboot homebrew. It's just the romfs. I went through the process of merging my Omega Ruby with the files in Rutile, so this is just plug and play. You need the updated Hans, since I didn't strip the romfs.
Place it in your root/Hans folder (not the Hans folder in the 3ds folder)

I hope an exploit is found for newer firmware than 9.9 desu. I've got my O3DS on 9.2 but my O3DS XL is on 10.1 and my N3DS XL is on 10.2. Would be really great to have CFW on my main 3DS.

It seems that some of the most competent people in the scene are moralfags, so it's got me thinking, what does it take to do this stuff? Smea is pretty young, only a few years older than me. I don't know what he learned growing up, but shouldn't I be able to learn how to do some of this and try to find a kernel exploit for us? What sort of knowledge is needed? 9.9 and up is in a bit of a bind.

browserhax no longer works on 9.9 and newer, tubehax was patched even longer ago. You had to have setup ironhax or oot3dhax in the past to get homebrew on a system that new now.

oot3dshax requires homebrew to setup the first time and ironfall got patched so yeah your only option is cubic ninja unless you have a friend on older firmware and who owns oot3d.

There's one more option, though. You could wait. Kickass homebrew makes some quick progress these days. I think almost every day Smea tweets about new progress recently.

I'm going deer hunting soon. What 3DS games should I install on my CFW before leaving?

I got Triforce Heroes and Etrian Mystery Dungeon so far. Also could play some GBA ROMs probably. Speaking of GBA ROMs, do they run better on CFW or a DSTWO? I've got both at my disposal.

He's been learning programming and working with ARM assembly for a good 6-7 years, at least. You'll be looking at needing at least a few years of degree-level computer science and crypto knowledge, plus probably another half a year at least of reading up on and learning about the 3DS itself, then another on top for learning how to effectively use ROP. If you're serious about making any kind of effort, don't shoot yourself in the foot by starting with an embedded system, start with Linux, regular programming, learn how CPUs and memory really work and how to low level manipulate them. Then probably move onto a system that's already pretty open and well documented, like the PSP, much easier to exploit.

i have followed a guide from gbatemp and managed to:
-install rxtools
-downgrade mset
-install an hack that let me do coldboot directly in emunand

about the last one, i simply followed the guide but have not understand how i get there. iirc i used browserhax (?) wich created a stuff everytime i started the browser which if i click it (top left) it make me go to a menu (homebrew channel i guess?). after that i installed themehax (no idea what is that) and used a stuff to make coldboot works.

now, almost (i said almost because sometimes it frozen) everytime i start the 3ds it go to emunand (wich is kinda cool).

Trust me, it is. Some people suggest loading up 4-5 content heavy tabs, then shutting your Wii U down normally. Then, power the Wii U on, open the browser, and after those 4-5 tabs have loaded, open another tab and try to load the kexploit URL.

That's what browserhax and themehax are for. You're on 9.4, so you can still use browserhax just fine. And once you get homebrew loaded, you can use the included eShop spoofer to download any game updates you need.

Yeah, that's all you need. Browserhax is a bit unreliable though, so the recommended path is to load that once and just use it to install themehax/menuhax instead, which loads the homebrew menu as soon as you boot the console and with almost 100% reliability.

I just softmodded my vWii, I have a HDD with a partition for Wii games that I used with WBFS Manager long ago.
Now, how do I play GC backups on this? I see various options for MIOS, Nintendont and maybe two other ways to play GC backups but:
a) Where do I put them? Can they be placed inside the WBFS partition?
b) Do I have to tamper with the settings? How do I use my GC saves, if I already got them from my Memory Cards?

The folder HANS tells you to put it in.

I removed my sd card to navigate to the system settings then sd manager. I plugged the sd card back in and deleted the 000002cd folder. It now works fine. Still don't know why the theme fucked me over so hard.

Braindump is suppose to dump the core files of your game to your SD Card for things like hacking essentially. You can already play games off of your SD Card outside of the 3DS's box, Braindump just dumps the source. I also just made an icon and a description for the app, I didn't really make it. If you want the actually app then google it.

Fucking menuhax doesn't want to load. It works fine, then extract the SD to make one shitty and little change and then it doesn't load. Then try it for hours and nothing. Then try to extract the SD and the insert it again and it loads. See I forgot something, so I turn off my 3DS and then I doesn't want to load again.

How hard is it to get the texture resources from a PC game?

The game's Jazzpunk, basically there's just a random poster in the game I want to vector and turn into a poster myself. I can do it with the screenshot but it'll be slightly easier with the original file.

Ok, i think I found the problem. I went to settings and check if my SD works right, then it seems it couldn't read it. Extracted it and inserted on my PC and it's ok, then insert it back to the 3DS and now it loads...
So it seems that if menu/themehax doesn't load go to settings and check so you can fix it, someway

Not quite true, because PSP and PS1 emulators have different access to PSP hardware (PS1 games can use native Media Engine for sound playback while PS1 emulation in PSP exploits can not and must emulate sound output of PS1 games with shitty results).
