Using the hunter config I've managed to get around 20-22fps outside of towns but it drops to around 15-18 inside of em

You can change the resolution in the in-game options. Are you sure you've gotten all the shadows down? There's multiple categories of shadow in the game. Also lower foliage distance, it's a huge FPS tank.

i choose to romance triss purely because i'm more attracted to her flaws and openness - that she's a pathetic, subservient, heart-on-her-sleeve, strong, confident, very caring, but not-trustworthy woman. however, i consider it poor design on CDP-R's part that i was even given to opportunity to romance her in witcher 3, because if the purpose of the choices in this game is to interpret geralt, who is a very well established character by now in the story, then there is absolutely NO provided reason for him to choose triss over yennefer. cdpr should have either provided that reason, or not given me the opportunity to feed a personal temptation.

It was good but I wouldn't go that far. Tbqh there's so many good moments like that it's hard to pinpoint one of them as "best" though.

That makes somewhat more sense but you're not using those words in an obvious way out of context so the context needs a bit more info provided to avoid such misunderstandings.

Have you played the previous games? Because some of her initial stuff involving Geralt didn't feel very confident to me since she was kind of just choosing not to think abut the long term consequences in a way that a child might. Of course she's more pathetic around Geralt than she is in general. Personal weakness.

yeah, and this is what i was really referring to with the non-trustworthiness. she would lie to herself a lot, which would at times lead her to lie or manipulate others, whereas any other times she did that kind of thing she was directly coerced to. she's definitely not a wicked person, she's just.... as said... not-trustworthy.

the effort put into expressions and faces in this game, while still pretty far from perfectly lifelike, is still so evident and impressive that it makes trying to connect to any of the npcs in bethesda and bioware games almost impossible.

Including in one place that I feel she shouldn't have been. Still mad about what she says if you bring her Philippa's crystal about wishing the Lodge was still around. That's how you got into this crap in the first place. But hey, flawed characters and all that. Lack of perspective and undue deference to authority figures are Triss's core personality flaws.

the only bad thing about the expansion i can think of is the silly dialect the voice actress for shani was told to use. it's a really inconsistent mix of formal american and formal british, most noticeably in how she pronounces 'a's. sometimes as an 'ah' like the brits, and sometimes as an 'eh' like the americans, and sometimes she hangs words that end with "er" or the like as brits do, and sometimes she doesn't. i wouldn't mind the weird dialect as much if it were just consistent... or if any other npc ever used it... like... why does she even have it? she's a talented VA, though. really sells her lines emotionally.

Complete unquestioning loyalty. Have you read the books and played the previous games?

He does make some vague comment about Geralt perhaps returning the favor in the future, and the journal entry for the first Hearts of Stone quest makes it sound like he somehow drew Geralt to that sequence of events. He was planning this the whole time. He may have had other plans as well though. Note his undue interest in Yennefer and Geralt's motives for finding her (Leverage?)

Absolutely. He fucking vanishes when Geralt is done talking to him, just like he does in the expansion. Geralt is visibly confused when it happens. Easy to miss without foresight though. The dwarves on the Isle of Mist also mention running into a guy they call "Mr. Mirrory or something" in the base game.

Shani's VA was specifically told to do that. She's meant to sound like she has a strange mix of accents from being well traveled. I've actually heard someone talk that was from the UK but had lived in the US since she was 10 and she sounds a bit like that. When accents merge and drift they don't do so in consistent ways. They may have gone too far though.

I like how you can play out Ogried's wishes like O' Dimm does - giving him what he literally wishes for, as opposed to what he actually wants and intended by the wish.

like you can bring him the house without the contract within that he actually wanted.

Well you find out if Geralt chooses her that she's been appointed by the King of Kovir (unprecedented, by the way) as the head of the Council and Conclave (being head of both bodies, also unprecedented) in Kovir. So that's still there.

Right, I also remember from my playthrough that even though I played it on hard, the game got progressively easy because of my tendency to do alot of side quests, leaving the main quests for later making them rather easy.

In the beginning of the game I remembered it was actualy hard, especialy some of the boss fights, I remember having to fight the gryffin like 30 times over before I actualy got it which was annoying but satisfying. Near the end the game just got too easy though. Did they do something to fix that? Does hearts of stone have the same problem?

It's a bit of a change in tone. The other well traveled characters (Dandelion, the Witchers, etc) are usually just made American. it's not COMPLETELY unprecedented though. Letho's accent is a strange mix, like Shani's.

Didn't play before the expansion? Initially Triss had almost no extra diaogue at all if Geralt chose her. So basically anything romancey you saw from her from Kaer Morhen on was added. Initially it couldn't be more obvious that they were uncharacteristically lazy with that choice.

Hearts of Stone is by far the hardest content in the game and makes everything else in it look easy by comparison. The boss fights actually have some creativity put into them, as well. The Caretaker especially is infamous. You'll know him when you see him. But even just the opening bosses like the Frog Prince are pretty nifty.

it's usually not worth picking up random junk swords to sell though

don't feel you need to stick to the main quest either, explore and do whatever. some areas of the map are too high level for you at the start of the game though which you'll be able to notice because the monsters will have red skull icons

I think I fixed the third act's awful storyline. You basically end the game at Kaer Morhen instead of at Skellige. Geralt gets his friends, rescues the mages like Philippa, doesn't become a retard and gets Nilfgaard to help and the climactic battle is done there. Fit in RoS somewhere else and don't make it full retard.
