Our King and his son attack the Caledonian capital of Eildon.

Our king leads a detachment to draw the enemy outside the rear of the settlement, while our raiders scour the heart of the town to remove all towers, clearing the way for the 16-year old Moritex to move his men in and take the hill fort. With arrows and javelins raining down on them from above, the Caledonians on the field outside rout, and the Hibernian scourge captures its first settlement on Britannia proper.

I only took the one pic, but it was a really pretty battle in the rain.

The Caledonians are left with only a wayward army, and their king doesn't even try to regain his fallen capital, instead resorting to raiding what had just recently been his own lands.

Moritex defeats the Caledonian king in a battle, and only a few of his men escape. We come upon them at their final reckoning.

hammer and anvil is still my go to tactic in shogun 2, it just if i'm not playing the takeda ill tend to use heavy shock infantry

plus a couple of units of light cav are amazing

>>121028257
Oda have on of the easiest starts in my opinion. their ashigaru are so cost effective that they are one of the few factions were i feel i can afford all the troops i need right from the beginning
>>
>>121028746
I find it funny that Oda is listed as a hard difficulty when the cheaper, more powerful ashigaru make dealing with Tokugawa, Saito, and Imagawa easy as fuck.
>>
>>121027507
None of the other factions are interesting? The Satsuma have Saigo Takamori, the famous last samurai, as a general, and turn 1 you can adopt him, make him heir, and suicide your Daimyo. That isn't interesting?
>>
>>121028678
Yes I can. Source: Putin, the 3rd son of G-D, is Eastern Orthodox
>>
>>121028849
yeah, i think its mainly for beginners. I find the Date to actually be the hardest faction other than the Ikko Ikki, because it takes so long to build any momentum thanks to northern honshu's huge provinces, that by the time I reach Kanto the Hojo/Takeda are huge and I've still only got one stack. And they're listed as easy or normal

Date do get that easy trade point monopoly, though. You are right, their campaign is fairly difficult, and it is a slow start.

Anyway, Aelia and Aila make for an amazing defensive position against the Sassanids. Both stacks are in range to defend the other, wipe the stack, then force march back to the city. The Sassanids and some vassals have finally shown up, and in two turns three stacks have been wiped out and another defeated.

CELTIC FUCKING COCKSUCKERS

Honestly this is fucking bullshit.

What should my army comp be to counter armies of ten or more spear warriors and supporting Celtic Warriors and Oathsworn generals?

I've tried swordsmen-based armies but Etruscan swordsmen aren't that good and axemen get shredded after too long in melee.

Cavalry would be my choice but they have such an abundance of spears.

It wasn't really exucseable. It was worse than rome 2(and still is) and they haven't really tried to fix it at all. They fixed some crashes like the fort crash and start-up crash that affected almost everybody.

Hoplites are still more defensive.

Why do you have two of the same barracks in the same province?
>>
>>121053403
You don't notice really slow unit respons time(they sometimes don't respond at all) and its uniquely retarded total war ai(both battle and diplomacy)? The worst things about it is gone now though. It's pretty obvious you didn't play it at release.
>>
>>121053529
It was a defensive measure since those two towns used to be my border. Also, never got a response from the creator of the mod but I asked what would happen if I went ahead and built the regular "red" military buildings.
>>
>>121053482
What's wrong with them?
>>
>>121053686
To much RNG.
>>
>>121053679
The red buildings are the original Italian military buildings the default Etruscan league would have. They have much less units, you shouldn't build them, the only reason they exist is because removing them removes them for Rome as well, so Rome can't recruit except from Roma as it starts with one.
>>
>>121053938
Oh ok.

Then what should I replace it with, considering you can see all the other buildings I have in the province.
>>
>>121054018
Velathri is probably safest so turn the barracks into something economic. Ariminum faces where invasions are likely to come from so keep it there.
>>
>>121053770
Then how do you suggest they fix them?
If they make all non-passive abilities 100%chance with a flat value - it might work for stuff like -moral or -movement, but how will agents interact with eachother with a system like that? If the never fail - how will they die or get wounded?

The red building give you access to a roman horse unit, italian swordsmen and some legionary units down the line. Etruscan military would have dropped hoplites for swordsmen in time just as Rome did.

It follows that pattern, Swordsmen come after Hoplites. But it's a game, so you can still recruit hoplites if you want to.

In the tv series Rome, Marcus Junius consistently refers to other patricians as lesser than him based on family name.

He even implies Gnaeus Pompeii is a pleb and Cicero speaks of his name in reverence.

According to wikipedia, the junii aren't considered gentes maiories. Scipio on the other hand is a part of the gentes maiories according to wikipedia. But no one refers to his name with such respect as Brutus.

We've taken most of Britain, by now. All that remains are Londinium and the town in East Anglia, the latter of which is owned by exiled Picts, who are besieging Roman London.

We have taken the town in Devon, and the Britannian rebels who were its former owners are trying to retake it. We expect a bloody battle for the city.

I killed most of the Britannian army when they tried to retake their town, and then chased down the remnants of their army, which of course tripled its size via mercs.

After beating them again, and waiting a turn, they turned into a generic rebel stack... but Britannia remains as a faction. Down here.

Salve, friends.

The /vg/ League is upon us once again. Last outing we failed to improve, falling to /dng/ and finishing a lowly 8th, despite our mighty third place the cup before.

Pic related is our roster. We shall run a poll soon, but for now I want to collect ideas for new players and which players should be removed.

If you didn't know, the /vg/ League is an intra-board tournament between /vg/ generals. Each general puts forward a team and these teams play one another in AI vs AI Pro Evolution Soccer. We have played in every iteration of this tournament, advancing past the knockout rounds three times out of four and reaching the semi-finals once; where we lost to the eventual winners. We have also played /gsg/ twice and unfortunately lost twice.

A milestone in Etruscan history. The first Legionary barracks is completed in Arminium, and the newly formed Kings Guard is deployed in Pannonia. Further good news, the Illyrian and Pannonian Celts have been exterminated. Only good will come of these accomplishments.

When the poll is ran (probably on Strawpoll or Googledocs) the players with the most votes will be the medals and we'll add the 19 other most popular suggestions

Strawpoll is quicker but Googledocs allows for more options and allows us to specify stuff like medals and who should definitely go.

Guys I cannot overstate how glorious this feels.

I'm going to be real disappointed if they don't deliver in battle.

On that note, does anyone know exactly what the difficulties do in the game? Like what bonuses does the AI get on hard compared to normal.

It could really be debatable, but stealing from a thief should deny the original thief from complaining about thieves.

The Attila time period is a highly formative moment in Western civilization. The groundwork of the Medieval-Modern period is laid with the fall of Rome and rise of her successor states, and one has the possibility to shape this as one wills, or even save the Empire.

Instead of picking one of dozens of irrelevant factions, you are either saving the great Empire of antiquity, or renewing a degenerated Europe. It is far removed from our time, yet infinitely closer to the modern day than the murky mess of the truly ancient Mediterranean.

Good campaigns for Attila:

Standard migrating barbar.
Empire of Sands. I recommend Tanukhids as a second horde game.
Saving the WRE. For hard mode, declare war on everyone.
Northern barbar raider, uniting Britain and/or Scandza, and then raid the shit out of the southerners.
Being a good foederatus, and blobbing to shit as a horde while defending the WRE from her mistakes. Settle down after out-Hunning Attila, after WRE has fully built up her entire empire.

5 campaigns is far more than enough for a TW game, given how long each campaign can be.
>>
>>121104000

no fuck you, no git gud about it. Having long ass archer duels, while constantly shifting around spearmen for cavalry running in circles around you, and/or chasing horse archers literally to the edge of the map with cavalry, simply isn't fun gameplay, whether you do it as efficiently as possible or not.

And then you gotta kill that nigger atilla like 5 fucking times (apparently, because I've killed him 3 times in battle now and haven't seen the "his next battle could be his last" message) for the stacks to fuck off.

It's like playing civ with raging barbarians on. Just fucking "no".

You can wipe them both out in a handful of turns when you first declare war.

>Also, wouldn't it be better to just join wars against their puppet states to kill them first before finally moving on to the big bad bastards themselves?
You would think so but it isnt

Trust me, iv conquered the sassniggers many times just because Africa is way more fun than Europe and going straight for the balls and taking out the sassanids is much easier. The proxy states dont seem to bother to come to the sassanids aid until you've actually gotten close to their own territories. Also many of the proxies will just break the moment you wipe out the sassanids. Plus the sassanid cities are worth a fortune when sacking unlike the proxies, so you can really steamroll through them.

If you do it the other way around you have to sludge through all their proxies first, while dealing with endless sassanid attacks.

This guy is correct. Also playing in the ME a lot, I find it is best to take Mesopotamia, and the rest of the Persian Coast if you are in a good position, and just raze everything else. Persia has an abundance of mercs available so it is really easy to runaway with the sacking and razing turn after turn if you have the money to supply a campaign.

North Africa, through the Nile. Love the Nile just because of that fertility.

Once you mop up (or the AI mops up) the ERE in Egypt all you have to deal with is sassanids and their allies to the east. Whoever takes the most land to your west you should ally with. Chances are it will be a barb faction who migrates down near you since the AI seems to love doing that for some reason.

Once had the Greuthungians migrate down to north Africa after I took the Nile, they conquered the entire thing all the way from the Nile to Spain. Made them my military allies and I never had to deal with anything from the West ever, even by sea.

I'm afraid there isn't a way of removing a single LOD without doing that.

I haven't assigned them their shields yet but these fellows are the Jund (arabic term used in a general sense for soldiery, meaning 'army' or regiment or whatever). Are analogous to your ambacti or pseudocomitatenses as lower middle grade guys. With some equipment changing the 'universal' arab units are done (the ones all three share) so I'll be starting on faction specific ones shortly.

Might leave Lakhmid specific units for the next release since I'll be working on the Sassanids next and the Lakhmids might end up being Arabo-Sassanian.

Glad to hear you like them. The Celts will be in the last wave with the Nordics, my plan is: Desert Kingdoms & Berbers this release, Sassanids (and maybe Lakhmids instead of this release) next release, then Celts & Nordics and then miscellaneous stuff like AOR units.

With the celts off the top of my head their roster changes will prob be:

Picts: Best Celtic cavalry, some pseudo-pikemen, chariots will either be Pictish or Caledonian, only celtic xbows.
Caledonians: Probably keep the archer emphasis, maybe get better/best sword and board old school celtic warrior types
Irish: Best berserkers, wardogs, poorest cavalry (lose their cavalry strength they got atm).

All keeping the guerilla stuff CA gave them.

And like I plan to with desert kingdoms any units I omit outright in the normal release will still have their stats done, new appearance made, recruitment set up, they'll just be re-enabled with an optional mini-mod.

Looks good. Beards could be more frequent, i was thinking a few days back how it was probably quite hard to be clean shaven every single day back then.

I feel like most people especially middle easterners would have been almost 100% bearded.

It sucks that i can't change the LoDs. Rigging full clothing is just too hard. This is the one I'm talking about, i think it's one of your Lob items. At LoD1, 3 and 4 it's fine. But at 2, just at a normal distance, all the shoulders poke through and it looks bad.

I don't know if its acceptable or not.
>>
>>121130279

Why no Irish chariots? I recall reading that they used them until the 6-700s.

>Irish: Best berserkers, wardogs

Were wardogs ever used in a significant fashion in war?

Two more things - how do you feel about increasing the options for later-game factions, to lessen their weaknesses somewhat? If the Irish, for example, actually conquered all of Britain, and even pushed into Gaul, they'd probably adapt their fighting style.

Finally, how are you going to handle women in the Celtic armies? I don't find the scant evidence for Pictish warrior women enough to justify massive participation in field armies, but having a garrison-only unit with mixed gender and high morale could be a good way to represent things, and give them a defensive boost.

Speaking of which - how would one go about adding in such a unit themselves? I tried, but the custom unit I made wasn't considered a valid entry in the table that governs garrisons, and the error message that usually tells you what you need to do was always bugged and incomplete.

I thought the Irish used chariots but some anon came here and said there's no evidence for it. I was originally going to have them be the ones with Chariots since Cuchulain and all that. As for Wardogs that is kind of just throwing them a bone, I think there's some evidence for it but it's dubious.

Not sure with female warrior women. I'm almost more partial to the odd female officer than I am a regiment entirely or largely made of women. As for making it garrison only the trickiness is you'll need to make a unit that is only used in garrisons and never recruitable, unless one already exists in the game. It's more complicated than just making a unit, but is do-able.

>>121130487

Surprisingly bedouin are often depicted clean shaven, though I guess I wonder if that's not the Coptic/Roman preference for everyone being clean shaven when I consider Palymrene/Hatrene art and them being bearded.

With that tunic bear in mind there's no need to use a full body model for a long sleeve tunic. It makes more sense to use one of the cut skins that has only the head/neck and hands (Sometimes shoulders too, which can be a problem).

So why not use one of the axum head & hands only skins? What tunic is that? If it doesn't work with the attila axum faces, we can see if there's an attila version of that tunic to use.

I pretty much have to use that tunic because it's the only full one with an easily removable belt, i think it was poorlong1.

I'd rather not use the Axum heads as they won't match the rest of the faction, i suppose i can cut that body down with alpha channels but its always awkward for the VMDs because the man with the cut body will need his own whole section then, reducing variation. That's why i was hoping i could change the LoD first, perhaps in a hex editor.

The unit in the end will have a lot of topless men as well.

You can't remove body parts with alpha channels unfortunately.

And if you have two sections (one for shirtless or fully body, one for shirted and long sleeve) you'll get 50-50 variation.

I would do what I did for the aksum short sleeved model edit I did. Take some hand and head only germanic, eastern or roman heads, hex edit it so they use aksumite face textures and you're good to go. I think you got my short sleeved aksumite edit anyway, so you wouldn't need to copy and rename any aksum textures. Just assign them:

fote_axum_a_head_diffuse (or b_ or c_)
fote_axum_a_head_normal (or b_ or c_)
And african_body. (Which should be the exact same character # as body_diffuse or eastern_body or whatever). those fote_axum_a/b/c diffuse and normal are the exact same number of characters as I think some germanic models' are, so you can just find + replace

I'll upload those textures if you didn't get them before.

>>121132040

I could see something where maybe low/levy type units are locked to region while middle and upper class are not. So Germans in Germania or adjoining territory like France/Thracia can recruit levy germanic tribesmen, but when they migrate to Spain or North Africa or Egypt they can still recruit Ambacti and Comitati but they cannot recruit humdrum German levies - instead it's locals. Sometimes that'll be a boon (local archers in Syria are prob better than local germanic archers) and sometimes a bane (Germanic freemen spearmen are better than some shoddy North African levy spears).

Then there's regional auxilia like Moorish cavalry/javelinmen, Isaurian Hillmen, the "Tzanic" Hoplites Agathias writes of (Hoplite being simply 'man-at-arms' or heavy infantry. Tzanic seem to be some Georgian/Caucasus people, the passage describes a Roman army with various auxiliaries, and tellingly he calls Moorish spearmen serving the Romans 'doryphoroi' but the Tzanics as hoplites, suggesting they are heavier or more infantry of the line), indigenous Arab auxiliaries for the Romans, and yeah Romano-British type units.

>You can't remove body parts with alpha channels unfortunately.
Dam, really? Why not what happens, it works fine with any other object.

I'll have to use your heads then, I got them before, thanks. I just need to change the skin texture to the Rome 2 blacks instead of Axum so that they match. I'm basically using the default black guys textures on white people bodies which is how the Kushites sort of looked.

Alpha channel compatibility is determined in 3dsmax, why some objects work with it and some don't (Tanukhid's robe for instance).

Unfortunately you will run into problems using the rome 2 blacks instead of the Axum, because the Rome 2 blacks are based on a different UV Mapping (it has the head and body in a single texture, all attila skins are separate head & body texture).

I think if you use Rome 2 Germanic/Barbarian head/hand models they use the same uv mapping as the R2 blacks. You'll just need to copy and rename whatever textures are necessary to keep the same character limit.

>>
>>121143067
Reikland is in the heart of the Empire and so is fairly insulated from external threats and deals mainly with Beastmen and Orc incursions.

Eat up beastmen settlements and take Marienburg as soon as you can. Also, knock out the Vampire Counts for more land and to secure the Empire's borders from the nearest threat (Undead don't break in battle). Grab land from the other counties and Kislev when they lose their provinces or fall to heresy, (you can give them back if that's your thing).

Make sure you have units or a full army loitering in your lands to protect against scripted invasions that will produce multiple fullstack armies to attack you. Either kill them piecemeal when the opportunity presents itself or pick them off in night battles. If you're confident in your city's defenses, you can fight them in the siege. The turn they arrive is the turn they assault so they won't have to wait 1 turn to build siege equipment.

Finally, around turn 80, the Storm of Chaos will begin and there will be 80,000+ enemies spawning in Kislev that will make their way to several of the Empire's key cities. At least be able to defend your largest cities against an attack from 2-4 fullstacks. From there, pick up the pieces, help your neighbors, and reclaim land.
>>
/twg/ do you field standardised armies or riff raff?

In Rome 2 I used the pre marian system and after the reforms I always had 12 legionaries and rest auxiliary cav and skirmishers.

You are being stupid. Take away the ornateness due to it being a God and you're left with common equipment.

We can look at the representations of the Gods to see the ideas and concepts they had for armour and clothing. If their Gods are in scale armour its very likely they knew about scale armour and probably used it, though that does not mean they would have been dressed exactly like their depicted Gods.

I have stated clearly several times that you have to strip away the ornate aspects to see the reality. A Teutonic Knights helmet without the horns is simply a medieval Great helm, which was worn in the period.

>Fuck off, you're retarded. If someone owns parade armor like that it would look very different from his combat gear. If you actually saw the statue for yourself the helmet athena is wearing barely resembles an attic helmet.
It's pretty obviously based upon an attic helmet. Other representations of Athena have her in Corinthian helmets or the tilted back Italo-Corithinian helmets, which are also helmets we knew soldiers wore. Parade armour in the majority of cases are exaggerated ornate forms of existing armour.

You're really not in the right here, you have nothing on your side. Answer me one thing.

>>121151105
I never said they wore it in that way into combat. I clearly stated my belief in the first post of this kerfuffle.

That if you strip away the ornate bullshit you can discover the likely practical armours and equipment. Henceforth if the Kushites have portrayed their God wearing scale armour, it's confirms that they knew of scale armour, and probably used it in combat. But in a more practical manner not with wings and lion heads etc. We can see this pattern in other cultures such as the Greeks and Romans, as their Gods clearly wear, though ornate, versions of armour which we have physically discovered and know were used in combat.

>>121151254

Let's not forget the 10kg shield and two extra spears plus the shit they carry on their back. The average soldat if he could afford it would never wear such a thing in battle. Also I never said they weren't used in combat, but officers weren't known to have practical arms and armor.

>>
>>121153428
They were used by infantry. This was before the Roman period, before mail was common, bronze "bell" armour as they call it was the common form of torso armour.

>>comparing a full suit of well balanced armor to a single curiass
Whats your point? A full suit of well balanced armour still weighs more, and regardless the center part of a suit of armour is still basically a cuirass around the torso. A bronze Cuirass is a pretty balanced and centered piece of armour.

>let's not forget the 10kg shield and two extra spears plus the shit they carry on their back.
Yes but that applies to mail and basically any metal armour but you wouldn't claim soldiers didn't fight in that.

We have a huge number of muscle armour finds, we find them on battlefields, we find them damaged from battle, we have images depicting soldiers wearing them, and the argument that it's too heavy or awkward falls flat on its face because, it's lighter than other armours worn, and it's no more awkward than other armours worn.

Let's not forget that the most common form of armour in the 17th century was also a single cuirass, such as those worn by pikemen, in the same weight and rough shape as a muscle cuirass, it just didn't have the nipples and six pack. Or the armour of, well the name says it all, the Cuirassiers of the napoloenic wars.

I think you get the point.
>>
>>121154058
That's true in so many conquests though (and often explains the defeats of a theoretical stronger power as well)

It's one of the reasons states that cultivate strong institutions are so much stronger than those that rely on parties, movements or individuals
>>
>>121154325
>muh weight

Balance is more important than weight, try waiting a full suit of chainmail without a belt and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Roman soldaten marched in full kit (we're talking post marian) and carrying the required gear in one of those would be torture. Offiziere didn't need to carry their own shit so they could wear whatever retarded shit they wanted. Also Napoleonic curiasses were used because it is one of the only types of armor that provided adequate defense against musket fire.
>>
>>121155203
Oh it's you. Fuck off soldat.
>>
>>121155203
Muscle armour, which is just a cuirass, is not unbalanced.
Soldiers have worn cuirasses throughout history which invalidates your argument to begin with but whatever.

>Roman soldaten marched in full kit (we're talking post marian) and carrying the required gear in one of those would be torture.I am not talking about the Romans either.
Who cares? We're not talking about the Romans. You're claiming the muscule cuirass was never used in combat by anyone except officers, when it clearly was, by infantry too. Mayne not Marius mules, and obviously it gave way to chainmail was it is superior, but it was used in combat, especially among the Classical Greeks.

The Cuirass of the 17th century was simply a remnant of full plate armour which had been gradually shrinking and getting less parts, though it was still needed as they got into melee combat frequently.

How do I utilize my archers after mid battle /twg/. My archer units always have abysmally low kill counts at the end of battles and I feel like bringing more than 1 or 2 units is a fucking waste in most field battles. Is that the standard count of archers anyways, or should it be higher and just used more non retardedly?

After all the melee is engaged, the only thing they have left to attack is enemy archers, who I may be dealing with with cavalry, so then they just end up sitting there doing literally nothing so they aren't firing into the backs of my own troops.

Is the friendly fire really negligible if you have them firing on enemy troops in the middle of the melee, or is it going to do more harm than good most of the time?

is it worth moving them to a flank so they can fire into the backs of the enemy melee? or will that still cause a lot of friendly fire?

If I see an enemy morale shaken/wavering, should I just use whistling shot on them, even though it's also going to affect a bunch of my units as well?

Pretty cool so far, I really REALLY hope that the no-/pol/-allowed rule is strongly enforced though, not just against /pol either, but against everyone.

>>
>>121159094
>>121158052

Huh, I always figured whistling shot didn't affect your own troops, at least not the AoE of it.

Anyway, I find it's really useful against wavering enemies. If the battle is close to being won, just use it, I've never noticed any significant effect from any morale penalty to my own troops, probably because I'm not an idiot and don't use it early in a battle.

But in general, archers just feel useless aside from defensive sieges, and even then, crossbows or skirmishers are generally better. Especially skirmishers, firing down from a wall into an enemy moshpit is an almost confirmed kill for every javelin, and on the right maps you can get 2-300 kills per unit, easily.

when CA was initially promoting Warhammer, they mentioned that they're working on a historical title.

it's definitely medieval 3, because they've already tweaked their engine for medieval style combat in the Warhammer game.

>We, the undersigned professional archaeologists from all parts of Europe, wish to protest strongly at the continuing support by the Bosnian authorities for the so-called "pyramid" project being conducted on hills at and near Visoko. This scheme is a cruel hoax on an unsuspecting public and has no place in the world of genuine science. It is a waste of scarce resources that would be much better used in protecting the genuine archaeological heritage and is diverting attention from the pressing problems that are affecting professional archaeologists in Bosnia-Herzegovina on a daily basis.

The guy who discovered it is basically the Bosnian version of the ancient aliens guy and every real archaeologist who has been there thinks he's full of shit.
>>
>>121184382

I want it to be basically a mix between medieval 2: kingdoms, and empire.

That way everyone can be happy >implying. Like I'm imaging It'll have knights n' shit in the early game, arquebusses will be researched early and will start to become cheaper and easier to field in number as time goes on and the game will progress to pike and shot.

In europe you'll have the big set piece battles and shit, but the game will have a large map like empire, so in the america's you'll have a lot smaller skirmishes and shit and a handful of conquistadors just plowing through natives (mainly because you'll be spreading disease everywhere with your units and the natives will constantly be suffering attrition).

They introduced the settling feature in atilla so it'd be great to see an actual race for the new world as all the big factions try and settle shit while trying to stop natives from fucking their shit up, nature from fucking their shit up, or their own people rebelling and fucking their shit up.

The only problem I see with this though is that it'd mean naval battles/piracy would be really important and they'd need to rework naval battles so everyone didn't hate them.

So I'm thinking of the quickest way to kill atilla however many times you need would be. Has anyone ever tried just settling far to the east where the huns spawn and see what happens?

Like, would you get fucking surrounded by all 14 stacks they get? How quickly do the stacks spawn, do you have any chance of fighting them off or would it literally be unbearable (considering you can't replenish if they're in your territory as well).

How about just marching some stacks over, putting them in ambush and trying to hunt down attilla when he spawns?

Or are you doomed to just playing defensive and having to take down a billion armies waiting for atilla to show himself

Chaos Warriors are usual from a collection of tribes called the Kurgan, which is basically a combination of every group of peoples to come try conquering Europe ever. From memory, they get a lot of their plate armour (and war machines) through trade with the Chaos dwarves who also live in/near the chaos wastes

For gunner I fully agree there since every shot that hits is a kill and you need to make your reloads count.

However for the ashigaru bows I feel that it's better to keep more bows in the fight rather than have them getting killed by the enemy skirmisher units. The +5 accuracy for them doesn't mean much since their arrows do less damage than the matchlocks.
>>
>>121213132
Your archers are probably not going to be targeted, though. Enemy archers will focus on your infantry, and your infantry should, of course, be focused on the infantry, too. Only real worry might be cav if you don't got cav to defend you, but 1) If the cav hit you, it won't matter what your armor is, 2) Why wouldn't you have units defending your missile units?
>>
>>121213132
Youre wrong. A gold accuracy bow will beat a silver accuracy bow with bronze armor
>>
Anyone got the source on the "no third entries in a series" policy? I see it thrown around a lot and throw it around myself, but I'd like to see where it comes from.
>>
>>121213782
Fair enough, I feel that during siege battles the enemy does target my archers a fair bit and in the clusterfuck of tier 1 castle battles it's hard to keep them alive.

>>121213831
I'm going to do a little research on the formulas for bow combat, particularly the power of arrows. You have provided no attempt to justify your position and it doesn't look correct in the slightest.

I'm not exactly well versed on chaos warriors but the norse do worship chaos that much is a fact, they might not be as fucked up as as the rest of the chaos tribes but they are most definitely a part of chaos and are usually the ones giving not!europe shit.

Norsca tribes have their own Norse-inspired gods. However, many areas are corrupted with chaos worshipers.

If you look at the regular Chaos Marauders (aka straight-up Chaos Vikings, without the blessings of the Dark Gods), they basically wear leather harnesses and shit, like a BDSM convention got hopped up on PCP and raided a Medieval Times.

killed maybe 5 or 6 hordes?

I did 4 battles, 2 of them had several armies in them, can't remember how many of them were just units that fled from a previous battle.

Feels good man, never fought that many battles in a turn with a single army, 2 of them were pretty good sized battles.

They tend to just go over the walls, I've never seen them burn the gates. And if I leave my dudes sitting around they'll get shot to death.

I know that when I get matchlocks I'll just sit my guys under the walls to hold while I shoot them to death but with just bows it's a bit hard.
