CCCP is a codec pack often used by animefags like ourselves. As you surmised, it's probably the codecs fucking the video up. Don't bother uninstalling, but go and rename the folder where VLC or MPC or CCCP are installed and try again. You can then rename it back after you're done testing/fapping.
