Gunner got the booty
The portraits in EOU are just ported from EO1
I don't get this picture
"Protector! Help us, swordsman isn't breathing!"
I didn't play II
Kimono probably hopes you had a very merry Halloween, /eog/!
The way the game was meant to be played.
>never again will a dev trust players with their own imagination
>never again will devs extensively thank a player
mfw i get the rare Jolly Roger drop on the Ghost Ship my first try
>fighting primevil for my first time
>everything is going good
>suddenly party wide triple binds
>prevent order dosen't stay on for it's 3 turns
>it actually blocks the ailment from having a chance of inflicting then disappears
>attempt number 3, put alchemist away for 4 man party
>holy shit its only turn 18 and hes almost d
>no insta death resist
welp... heres attempt number 4 coming up with these fucking trinkets i guess
Actually no, I am not out.
>turn 2 it focused medic and killed it with boosted immunize
>left medic dead until turn 5
>surv and troub got her back up and all buffed up again during the 3 anti element turns
>shit went swimmingly as fuck until turn 22
>bind all ability
>missed medic, surv, trou, bound protector
>it was at like 10% hp
>decide to say fuck it and make these last turns count
>end of turn 24 it was hit with a caduceus/boosted apollon/multi/volt shot from troub
>still had a sliver of health left
>protector was still bound
>oh fuck shit bitch tits its the anticold round
>panic sets in
>will everything be all for nothing?
>it has ... like.. no fucking health left.. fu-
>1st turn caduceus, why the fuck not, right?
>a wash of relief washes over my body knowing I couldnt even finish floor 26 almost 8 years ago, nor have the will to go back
Fuck I love this feeling.
>maybe i should attempt the other extra bosses now, since i killed the Wyrm and Alraune
>i never heard anything about Anemone, just that Kraken is harder, maybe i should do him
>party wiped and he was on full HP
What the fuck. How do i beat this fucker.
>mace made from Narmer's conditional is stronger than sword made from the 3 dragons
When compared in the shop, it says the mace has 15 more damage, actually.
Also, consider the following
>killing Narmer thrice with an arbalist
>killing the 3 dragons 8 times
Sure, the second gives more attack eventually, but it's also plenty of times harder to achieve.
>all dem radar-less corridors in the 6th stratum
>all dem holes that you don't know where they are until you fell into them, and if you want to go back to where you were, you have to walk all way through 3 FOEs
I'm not even mad, just annoyed.
>sit on Scylla for several days
>can't beat shit, respec and still can't beat her
>get home drunk after party
>load game and get through without problems
the fuck was that
>about to finish exploring B22F, and thus, B23F as well
>mfw i'm about to reach Abyssal God
>mfw none of my party members are 70 even
>mfw i still haven't beaten Scylla legit
>nor that one boss from the last set of Sea Quests
>nor the Drake and Dragon
>nor the Elder Dragon
I sense some heavy grinding coming my way.
Short answer: Yes. But if only if you like MD-like games.
Long Answer: It's somewhat unpolished, people here still claims that the Sovereing missing their own buffs is a bug when it's a 50/50 (Try using two sovereings and the buff of the other always land).
It have it perks, but those are as a whole of the genre. If this is your first MD and you are pretty fond about the EO gameplay, it will clash to you, because it's inherently different.
IA is dumb? You can change leader (that's a god send in these games) or use 1 Blast Gauge to control all your party by 9 turns.
Can't fight properly at the entrance of a room? Red Tiles.
It could use a little more time in polishing, but it's fine.
Ain't that some shit.
>for some reason i thought that at the end of B23F was Abyssal God already
>mfw those radarless corridors with all those one-way shortcuts
Are nightseekers just shit at inflicting ailments early-on, or am I just really unlucky? None of my maxed-out skills are landing against Tusked Crusher. I imagine things improve after I get Follow Trace or throw on Ailment Mastery with the arcanist subclass, but I've tried five times now, without a single ailment landing.
Poison is by far the least resisted ailment in the game. even most post game bosses are vulnerable to it. poison throw + auto spread will be... pretty much all ya need for sweeping groups
You can still do it in Classic, you just don't get any alt portraits.
>the 6th stratum has 1 more floor than the others in EO3
Pls no more spinning tiles in radarless corridors ;_;
How do I EOU2 classic NG+ grimoire/shop/codex but no En?
Dark Hunter, Beast, ?(Another DH or WM
Do people hate EOIV because it's so simple? I played through some of it after having played a shit load of EOUII and it just feels really hard to get into because the skills seem so limited.
I hate it because it's way too easy, literally only having Standard and Picnic as its difficulties, not to mention that it also threw out of the window the core formula of an EO game by adding dungeons within an overworld. That last thing in particular is what makes me hate the game so much. I really wish I never bought it, and since it was a digital game (because they don't bring niche games to the stores from where I live), I can't get part of my money back.
The extra little caves were a cool idea but they really shouldn't cut into the main dungeons' size.
Nightseekers are unreliable until near the end of the main game when you have enough skill points for all the ailment chance skills and reasonable LUC, but once you hit that point they do some of the best damage of any class.
What's wrong with the extra caves in the overworld? Besides maybe cutting the amount of floors in the stratums maybe.
I thought that it made sense that you went through other places outside of the main labyrinth, what with you being explorers and all.
Son of a bitch.
How long do they take to respawn? About half of them are a pain in the dick to reach, and having to deal with Vampire Trees if you don't kill them fast enough is rather annoying.
>Besides maybe cutting the amount of floors in the stratums maybe
this is probably the cause, at least for me.
In EO3 we also had a floor less than the previous games. But at least every floor used almost all the grid.
While in EO4 we have Misty Ravine BF1
What are the new features you want added in EOV, /eog/?
color palette for your characters
I want more unique classes.
Maybe a pyromancer class that only uses fire skills to do damage to enemies and support allies. Or an ice based class meant to damage and weaken enemies.
I'm pretty tired of just getting an elemental class that uses all elements where you end up putting points into all 3. While you have dark hunters that specialize in cutting damage only but can weaken enemies in different ways to compensate.
Double digit map number markers
Benched member EXP gain
More stat check events
More events which can be influenced by having a specific class in your party
Minor features based around the calender system (enemy rates slightly changing depending on the month, bonus to luck-based things on certain rare "lucky" days)
Seperate inventories for items and materials
I don't know how I feel about the scope of it potentially going that far. I feel like the fifth stratum would be better if it were the moon, and the sixth stratum that mysterious second moon. God knows where that came from, so it could potentially be of eldritch origin, like the Abyssal God.
I just unlocked arcanists in EO4, should I replace my medic with Wufan immediately, or should I wait for subclasses to unlock? It feels like having to use 2 turns for the party heal on the arcanist is too slow.
Some kind of multiplayer feature would be awesome. I don't mean like the sea quests from EO3, more like having a friend's guild come into the labyrinth, split up and help you map things out or stick together and fight random encounters and bosses together.
I don't know how they'd do it though. If they just threw it in and didn't balance anything around it it would be kind of shitty, but designing the game around it would kind of suck as well.
Bonus multiplayer dungeons with stronger enemies and FOEs to make up for the fact that you have multiple parties
Giant bosses like the Earth Dragon in 7th Dragon that need multiple parties fighting different parts of the body to weaken it
If you absolutely need the healing, just wait and get the subclasses, retire your medic (assuming you have one) into a new arcanist, and give them a stat book and medic subclass. I like retiring at 30, though, because there isn't much of a level disparity at that point.
Just make sure that you don't use Wufan if you intend to retire for stat bonuses later. The portrait gets permanently deleted with no way of getting another in the same playthrough.
I'm gonna do an X only run of EOU2
1 for landshark
2 for survivalist
3 for gunner
4 for dark hunter
5 for medic
6 for alchemist
7 for beast
8 for war magus
9 for hexer
please no medic, I'm not prepared for suffering ;-;
>Story mode built in instead of saved for the remake in 7 years
>Teach is your forced waifu in classic, you have to rub her down no questions
>Dynamic battle portraits, custom palletes
>Squaddies not in the party train or use abilities to make some extra EXP, money and etc while you're actively questing
Dancer "performs" at the pub, for instance
>Chill with NPC guilds using a communications stone (like a cellphone in Pokemon), track it down like a GPS if they manage to die to get their gear and dosh before critters and other adventurers come across them
>maps / dungeons and towns on the overworld, different places to accept quests from and sleep at
I can dream, right?
Jokes aside, I quite like the serious ideas there. Except for the comm stone thing. I'm not really feeling it just from the pitch there.
Dynamic battle portraits would be pretty great, though.
>Teach is your forced waifu in classic, you have to rub her down no questions
over 40 minutes later and I couldn't think of a single name.
Just need one more.
I mean just hop on the splatoon gravvy train and have tentacle twin tails or hell inkling amiibo special portrait designed by Yuji Himukai for the eldritch class.
They will be the hexers of etrian odyssey!
Look in your heart you know it to be true.
Toasting on mobile.
You'll know it's me because every filename is "image".
You reading me?
What if, and i'm sure you'll love this
The 6th stratum is randomly generated(the chests would all contain something fixed, but they would change positions), and it changes every in-game month.
assuming her hair was purple like Seyfried and Olympia before DEEP ONES happened
Blonde Princess was a mistake.
Not even doujins can explain this phenomenon.
In fact, they try to imply the opposite.
>started the series with the first game
>never finished post game out of laziness + the intimidation factor of having a shitty team and dont wanna regrind
>second game came out
>third game came out
>picked a Fort, Dancer, Sniper, Medic, Runemaster
>their specs sucked but /eog/ helped me out
>crawled through post game and eventually finished as F/D, D/N, S/B, M/L, R/B
>EOU1 comes out, did postgame here
>back to EO3 and did post game there
>back to EO2 and did post game there
>EOU2 comes out, did post game there
>back to EO1 to do post game there
>feel empty inside
But I like to know a few specifics. Don't be like Atlus.
Off the top of my head
Event in the first stratum to retrieve a whip from a tree, character you select needs to pass an agi check to get it
Event in the 4th stratum near a bookcase, character needs to pass a tec check to understand a book's writings
Shame you don't see this Ninja too often. She's really cute.
>my recent playthrough of EO1 is still fresh in my mind
>debating on a new fresh game of EOU1 to see the changes first hand (again)
I took a break for playing EO1U, and now I'm finding it difficult to get back into it.
On the first strata, playing on Expert isn't difficult so much as it is time consuming. When does it begin to be rewarding to play on Expert?
There's also one in the Golden Lair, I believe in the part accessed from the Forgotten Capital, which requires a boulder to be pushed aside. You need a STR of at least 50 to do it.
In EO3, how do i get to the tentacles in the upper corners of B25F? I think i have to do some baiting with the FOEs because they instantly come at you as soon as you enter the rooms(in the room with the damage tiles at least), but i can't for the life of me figure how.
>This being is believed to be related to Primevil/Yggdrasil Core, as they both are related or, in a way, mutations of a part of Yggdrasil. This leads to the theory that the fourth game happened some time either before, after or during the events of the first/remake game.
What do you guys think of this? Typical wiki shit or maybe actually plausible?
>or, in a way, mutations of a part of Yggdrasil.
Utter bullshit. You even learn in the game that the thing was artificially created as a response to what might happen if Yggdrasil goes rogue.
And it doesn't matter if 4 comes before or after EO1/EOU1. There's no comparison or relation to be made between the timelines.
In EOU, researchers create Gungnir as a weapon meant to destroy the Core.
In EO4, researchers create the Saviour as a weapon meant to destroy the Titan.
Both groups of researchers know that their repsective Yggdrasils could go horribly wrong. The EOU ones learn it from simulated projections, and we're never told how exactly the EO4 ones find out, I think.
If you wanted, you could construct your own timeline and theories, but that wiki shit is just that. Someone going out of the way to put their own hypotheses and headcanons on the page.
>this kind of thing will never happen to you
>tfw this kind of thing was about to happen to you but you were to naïve and shy to say yes
So /eog/... I wanna do Classic Mode, but want to kind of Story-ish it a bit in my head. I know I want to at least start with a Protector and Highlander.
But I'm unsure of the rest of the party. Or how I kind of want to... acquire them? Or maybe I should just start with a full 5, instead of say starting with 3 and then thinking of how/when the 4th and 5th will join.
Always glad to help.
The guild leader seems to be a separate entity of debatable (but likely male) gender when playing classic.
How would YOU hire your employees, when they're largely a loli workforce being put through conditions that may actually kill them (repeatedly) desperate for money and/or fame?
If I suck your dick, will you ejaculate maple syrup ice cream into my mouth?
I saw this at my local used game shop and fought the urge to buy it because I have a backlog of RPGs and I hadn't touched my 3DS in over a month. I always thought it looked interesting.
What do you think? Is the age-old mother's advice not to buy a game unless you've gotten your money's worth out of your old ones indeed sound advice?
Die, Canada! You don't belong in this world!
But Raquna already got me to suck hers!
>game uses "you" for a lot of stuff
>"character in slot 1" turns into the protagonist in the field with stuff being described in third person for them
>first-made doesn't need to die for a game over
now I can't help but imagine the guild leader just following them without armor and handling the diplomacy/paperwork or committing sudoku when they hear that their waifu died
The jap version dosen't use "you".
The wording sounds natural in japanese without having to use a pronoun, they just state what is happening. You can't really do that in english or it'll sound like a caveman is the narrator.
An FTP client for the 3DS, you know, to move, add, delete, etc, files from your 3DS' SD card without the need to plug it into your computer. You need Homebrew to run it, of course.
That's a feature in the N3DS, though I'm pretty sure for older models you have to take out the card and put it back in, which is extremely annoying to do with an N3DS so that's probably the reason they added that feature.
What it does is just puts the N3DS in a special state while setting up a network drive to transfer files to/from. Other than 3DS files having horribly labeled folders, it's pretty easy to work with.
Again, if you're not using an N3DS, you can just take out the card and put it in your computer's SD card slot, provided it has one. Most modern laptops have that kind of slot, usually in the front, though if you've been using the same PC for 10+ years, you might have add one of those yourself.
I indeed don't have a way to read my SD cards other than using a digital camera as some sort of adapter, but it's still better to use an FTP client if you want to manipulate the files without having to constantly reboot your console, which is something you do a lot if you use Homebrew tools.
How do they train princes to be good princesses?
Keeping this thread on life support.
Never forget , /eog/
>Gets his ass kicked by a first stratum boss like a chump.
>Meanwhile his imouto manages to make it up to Blizzard King before kicking the bucket.
>having defeated the monster, you hurried to bring her back to town
>on your back, she apologized for trying to steal the glory and everything else
>satisfied with your achievement, she exclaimed "You're truly the dragon slayer!"
you then realized she actually died on your back Stop-giving-me-those-darn-feels Pic-unrelated
>imouto gets all her purities stolen by the dragon, then killed in front of you
>the cheeky cunt basically says "let me run in to kill it 1v1" and, failing that, "get me this spear I'm totally not lying about so I can totally not try and 1v1 it while you're running around anyway"
I take it that their family tree is much like Lieutenant Dan's, where they're fated to die doing something retarded and melodramatic while adventuring.
why can you save Hrothgarbage but not Scylla-chan in Untold 2's Story mode?
Because the world is not ready for monster waifus.
>picking up EOU1 after finishing EO1 the other day
>debating on Story, or Classic
>on one hand, able to run through with almost my classic team from a few days ago
>on the other hand, I get to hear Raquna's voice all over again
Who needs monsters when we have twigs?
I'm only gay for feminine dicks.
And the occasional big bear cock but that requires specific personality traits from its owner for me to find them appealing
>attempting to two-man a second strat boss when it was clearly able to destroy Beowulf and eat three of its members in the past
Four. He was suicidal and got his entire guild of five wiped from being stupid.
I can at least dream for EOV.
Joke's on you it's not gay if you swing both ways
Does the second sword for Shoguns need to be a Katana for 5-ring sword to work?
I'm trying to run a shogun buccanere can it be a rapier
also because katanas are really expensive.
>monster girls, (literal) tanks and meido classes
I won't rest until we have a Demonica class.
>eldritch class gives enemies a sanity meter
So I'm just 3 hours into EO3 with
Zodiac Monk Ninja
all level 5
Help, there are so many fucking skills and you only get like 1 skill point a level it's overwhelming as fuck
The start of the game is always the hardest. Well, up until endgame but you can worry about that later.
For now, focus on obvious talents. If you're worried about what to spend them on, you won't waste points simply dumping them into a character's mastery talent. Decide whether you want your Gladiator to rock swords or maces early on, for your Hoplite stick to Line Guard and Bodyguard, for Zodiac focus on the basic spells for each element, healing for the Monk and whatever you feel like with the Ninja.
Once you're a little further into the game you can have more fun with experimentation as it'll be easy to recover levels lost through resting or even getting new members up. I'd also suggest filling your guild with benchwarmers and giving them a skill called combat study - It gives them exp for simply existing, at a max rate of 50% of your main party at level 10. You might also want a team of Farmers for gathering later on.
Welcome to EO home of the most ambiguous skill descriptions ever!
Come for the girls, stay for the monster girls.
So adventurers, when do you prefer to dungeon crawl? At night before bed, all curled up and comfy, or mid-day to get the brain going?
Im at the 4th dungeon in EO4. My party is is Landshark, dancer, nightseeker woth medic and runemaster as back row.
I think I do OK in damage. After all you can go full ham with links, sambas and ailments. But Im doing extremely poor on defense. To the point where normal enemies can hit for 1/3 of my HP and if I get unlucky with a boss I'll get a party wipe.
That normal? Or did I mess up somewhere?
>Implying that matters in IV
Can't he just buy hella armour?
That's pretty normal in all the games, I've beaten them all without a tank class. But specifically in the untolds, you're probably going to take 2/4 or more damage per hit even with defensive buffs.
>ronin are a samurai without a master
>to have a ronin in your guild is to be their master
>they are known as "bushido" in the jap eo, named after the samurai way of life
how delightfully redundant
just like sarashi's chest
Well, I was hoping for love and not just sex, since there is a fair bit of the latter out there.
Do not bully the Sarashi.
You will feel guilt.
>Just remember EOU2 has the Alter Class thing
Could... could I in theory, create a guild member in post-game Story, use the Tea to get her EXP without being in the party, get her to 99, retrain her for max stats/skills... alter class... then new game+ her into Classic Mode at like level 1 somehow?
Monster Hunter. I've started a new game and am doing a challenge run on it.
Basically, do 10 quests with one weapon, then move onto the next weapon, do 10 quests, then the next, and so on.
It's slow going, but pretty fun. I just can't get into the Longsword, and I can't stand using the weak Bows at the start of the game, but I'm warming up to the Gunlance, even if it is terrible.
Was just about to start the fishperson genocide on EOU1 Classic when I saw EO4 for $10, and I ended up starting that instead. I still can't get over how immediately different it is from the other games in the series that I've played, and though I don't hate it just yet, it's still very weird.
I'll admit I burnt out on it last year when I reached the endgame, but I the announcement of MHX was one small factor in me picking it back up. I haven't tried to go online yet, but I hope that the amount of people playing it hasn't decreased drastically.
Keep in mind the dog ate your warp wire
Dropkick it in the balls. Preemptive strike with a chance of stun.
Why would you say something like that?!
You only live once.
Except for when you don't.
