industrial ghetto with no education. has a good land value though since it is close to some parks and metro stations.
Does the quality of the floor affect my colonist's happiness?
Why is my immigration so low? It originally capped out at ~22k, then I taxed everyone out of the city and let it regrow, it got to ~25k before stopping again, at which point I demolished the only bridge out of the city. This seems to have stopped people from leaving, but I still get very few people entering.
What am I doing wrong, /cgb/?
The type of floor tile do have an impact on happiness. Not only that but in the latter game when your craters are good enough, you should replace every piece of furniture so that they are high q for an even bigger mood boost
Does anyone know what building that is? I cant find it in the workshop anymore.
though i love this game so much, it is more like a building game instead of simulation. nothing really matters. you can't specialize your city.
Rate muh cabin in the woods, /cbg/.
Not really but I like a big safety net because if the turrets go down so do I.
>mfw fucking manhunting turtles kill 2 of my colonists
Life is hard.
I just lost another guy to infection, and so I'm left with a cripple and a scientist.
This guy has the worst luck.
tfw all the threads I've made have died early
No worries. I'm trying to keep both /cbg/ and /tg/ alive. I understand why /tg/ would die, but I'm seriously surprised with /cbg/. It's a game where the user's creativity is all that matters. It shouldn't die this often. All you have to do to keep the thread alive is post your city, which is the entire premise of the game. And it's not like we're lacking posters or anything like that.
Shit like this should be a road option. Just draw the roads and magic happens. It works for bridges, so why not here too.
I thought the maximum stacked items was 75. What's up with that stack of 500 silver?
>they start short-circuiting and exploding
93k bump. Highlands are filling up nicely. I also freed up most of the central valley from the highrise ban, most of my city had it before.

What's the best way to distribute traffic in large urban high-density areas?
I tried using avenues down main roads but all it does is add stoplights everywhere and cause traffic to become endless gridlock.
A fire is threatening my crops. The incendiary launcher is a dangerous weapon.
Suddenly every office in the city starts complaining about too few services. What the fuck?
There's literally nothing wrong. Though it went away mostly now.
I wish these zones would fill up faster.
>Recently start playing cause this game was on sale for the halloween sale (Not sure why but I'm not complaining)
>current city is the largest I've ever had after a few trial-and-error failures.
>Notice that one way streets and anything above two lanes absolutely fuck traffic six ways until sunday
>Entire game is just trying to work around the retarded traffic AI
>My entire city is just highways leading straight into two lane roads
>Everything is slowly becoming more and more fucked
>Can't fix it without just going absolutely ballistic with the roads
How the fuck do you guys manage traffic so easily with different road types?
Are these all with mods or something to make traffic not a complete clusterfuck?
I think taxes were causing the problem, though the effect took really long to show up. I had my taxes at 11% for maybe 30 minutes before they showed up, and they disappeared a few minutes after I lowered them back to 9%.
Do you think this is good enough to handle all my industry?
i made a map of prague. check it out guys.
I'm >>120706448 and my lack of traffic is mostly down to have no industry at all.
That might also be what's causing my low immigration, come to think of it. Anyone else using just office and commercial have this sort of problem?
Damn. I thought Banished was comfy as fuck. This is way better.
anyone here play anno? I wanna pick up anno 2205 but they removed AI from beings on the maps directly, and combat is optional now which i feel takes away from the game
remember how AI used to be on the same game map as you and you would compete for islands and therefore resources? it's just you in a "sector" now
basically, it's a really gimmicky way to expand the game world without much effort, as each sector runs co-currently to one another, but you need to swap between them which involves a loading screen
You mean Deluxe right? Deluxe comes with the base game and Rush Hour. I'm pretty sure it's the only way you can buy it unless you're downloading it. In which case download the Deluxe Edition.
And get NAM.
>suddenly massive drop in population
>Check the sick %
>One stuck hot dog van blocks the whole train network
>tfw bought Gold Edition(with season pass) of 2205 and don't regret anything.
I heavily regretted 2070 and after they fucked Homm6 and 7 up I'll probably never buy Ubisoft again.
Times like this, I wish /cbg/ was on a board like /i/ or /po/, since it's too slow even for /vg/.
what could possibly go wrong
keks. also make sure you have oww piers and shit updated. i read old versions of peg oww cause some prop bug shit on old cities.
on the second day he said let there be retail
nice, the river is shaped like vltava, but it doesnt look like prague at all
i made cities look european after discovering that even prague is huge as shit for cities
That industry air pollution effect is ugly as shit, and it's not even realistic. If all you had was a sea of industry for miles and miles then okay, but a block of it turning the sky brown? Retarded.
whats the removal mod called? i was looking for it myself, but
ive got pirate.
and yeah it is ugly and nonsensical, but then again the art direction of this game is obliviously visibly shit. ( really, though, ive always disliked the static comic-perky-disney render animation style they went with ) only now that theyve added afterdark and are leaning towards the old stylization of citiesxl im actually enjoying the style of the game.
>having women in workplaces
>whats the removal mod called?
And as much as I hate to agree with you, Cities: Skylines art direction is shit. Everything looks like plasticine and has no soul. It's just so inoffensively generic.
> It's just so inoffensively generic.
the worst thing is that was obviously the direction, but they thought it would turn out nice.
i seriously enjoy having Quiet in MSGV just because shes a total fucking contrast to CS artdirection bullshit.
It is also good that since after dark very obviously uses old tricks from Cities XL to have night and day, they used its more realistic render and color correction.
I imagine Karoline sitting there all triggered because it wasn't plastic and innoffensive enough.
there we go:
seriously fuck that bitch and her revolting taste for fucking up gamestyles
Different road types work just fine without mods. Key is not to overuse the larger roads and proper hierarchy. Highways with few interchanges feeding into 4 or 6 lane roads, which in turn have limited amount of intersections to 2 lane streets. This is not a hard rule. You might need to build some exceptional things for extreme traffic areas like industrial area entry points.
I usually connect only every third or second block to the large roads, it works really well.
One way roads are a trap, you really need to plan well to get any benefit from them. Roundabouts and industrial area traffic tridents are the best uses.
That was just the construction phase. Those assets are wonky as hell and require tons of space when placing them.
thanks, have some more screens
love this little cozy industrial zone in the middle of town
These all look great. Prague is a confusing mess to navigate by foot.
RIP to my trains. I had to remove them from the regional connection since it was backing up so much, and now no one uses them to get around the city at all.
>Prague is a confusing mess to navigate by foot.
but then again its small and lot of locations are very specific. easy to get around in time. i still get lost in old town from time to time.
do you separate industrial tracks?
for some reason this remind me of GTA SA
>order my doctor to amputate an infected kidney
>"Doctor has failed catastrophically while performing surgery."
How do you even fuck up that badly?
I only visited for a few days in 2009 and was drunk most of it.. great city.
Yes. Separate entirely from the commuter line. There is only one regional connection. It just seems no one uses it internally for transportation.
>mfw just refreshing the page right now
>get a streetsign cap
>I only visited for a few days in 2009 and was drunk most of it.. great city.
you did the best to be done in prague. where you from though?
>There is only one regional connection
i always have two connection for both industry and regional, and barely ever get stuck trains.
working on sattelite towns atm, comfy as shit
This. Changes. Everything.
[MAXIMUM URBAN] http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=543610836
what somewhat fucks the feeling of having creating a realistic city is the size of the map, the heightmap you used seems to be of smaller ratio and dimmed height, so
those are for decoration, make people feel better
it's a courtyard farm thing. It used to be fully open but I added the arms that partially enclose it for security purposes. The blood of my enemies waters the crops as my minigun turrets cut them down.
>spend ages waiting for a slave trader to come by
>one finally does
>LOL WANT A GUSHIN' GRANNY?
>other slave is equally useless
How do I feed this bitch? There is no option and I don't feel like wasting another 700$ for bull and a cow.
Nigga there is grass everywhere which is 102% grown in their pasture area.
Hmm, i will try giving them some potatoes as its all I got.
I figure they will need hay so have to grow it, but it's too late in fall now,
So, where should I move my industry to /cbg/? I was thinking south of the highway for the easy rail connection. Also, any tips for freight train terminals, I haven't played in a while
For some reason, they get bonus as large space because it's all "their" space, I assume.
The niggas built a snowman to play chess with.
I make big, nice looking sleeping rooms and put them all there. Beds count as walking spaces, so they don't affect negatively the room size. They do get a negative bonus because they share the room, but fuck it. It's just -5.
They add more options for spawning.
Fixed that issue, then my highway got gridlocked because one off ramp was badly designed. Now it's taking forever to untangle.
It's hilarious how little money industry produces. The industrial are in >>120827012 has four cargo stations, a few of the bigger police and fire stations each, and a fuckload of road, and only produces 12k per week.
Sales tax nigga. If they don't buy it in your city, you don't get the moolah.
i thought that they already figured giving characters different tastes
i used the prep carefully mod to make better colonists for starters and gave them traits that make them like smaller rooms
do I continue building this or play MSGV?
The City of Uruk is in the Arabia Terra region of Mars, this is the old city center. it was the cross roads of the commercial, industrial, and residential pods.
the swamp lands where formed by the sewage runoff
Cultural Scitek Park
The Boulevard runs from one side of the city to the other
welp, lost 2 people to bunch of ABOminations. Made sarcaphaguses for them in a cave and ragequitted.
Amazing game. And I am playing vanilla. Holy shit. Tip for anybody playing or planning to play:NEVER underestimate your enemy.
The nuclear science center
Enkidu Island, a place where rich self important fucks can live in an island surrounded by their own shit.
So there's an option to disable the GUI. Nice.
Yeah just the trees from the park menu. Work them into the road layout early on.
there are some great mods for it too
here's my hospital
I got a question, how are fat people treated in game?
I noticed that my bitch who is fat and some fat fuck who was attacking me had movement less than 100% probably due to their fattness, but did not see it in gameanywhere in health tab.
She did have a scar somewhere but deffinatly not leg.
I'm certain it's the scar or a trait, fatness doesn't have a impact
nice job man. looks good. digging the lore,
do more screenshots from the ground.
damn thats a bigass hotel right there
have my small desert fortress
the swamps at sunset
what kills you anon?
A strategy to defend yourself better is to force enemys to walk over sandbags, they won't be able to shoot on them but you can still hit them, just make sure they cannot get in cover behind them
comfy, what's the empty red room for?
it's in high demand, that was my first base where I activily butchered invaders
maybe it spooks them
Fucking what? Does anybody here speak nazi?
an area near the airport/space elevator
But where's your killbox?
the airport/space elevator
I thought about getting that mod to plow my own fields but it seems kinda broken
>letting corpses rot in the open
what are you doing nigga
A view of the industrial sector
theres three defensive zones already built, working on the wall and next ones. im in the desert with barely enough materials in safe distance to be able to build that fast.
ive cheated in some more powerful guns with the prep carefuly mods so the colonists survive, so far so good. only 2 random colonists who joined afterwards anyway died during attacks/spoiler]
I think it says something to the likes of: "You get additional duties for each trade agreement at your office because of the (Geleitzoll - something with customs, I'm not sure what)"
getting some good sniper rifles is also really good, since they have a bigger range than other weapons including mechanoids
you should try to put up a buffer room for your refrigerator rooms, since the temperature equalizes a little bit every time a door gets opened
thicker walls help too
ya i got some snipers man.
also gattling gun
and ill build the equalizer rooms soon, there wasnt much use for them as there are spaces unused or same as an equalizer room
hey btw any idea if eating frozen food has an impact on colonists? I see no point in trying to refrigerate the food if so
>hey btw any idea if eating frozen food has an impact on colonists? I see no point in trying to refrigerate the food if so
Prepared food can only last so long before it spoils when not refrigerated but if you feel like you consume it fast enough, there shouldn't be a problem.
Gentlemen, where's your resourcefulness?
I hope you survive the massive mooddrop anon
The swamps at night
>Actually tried to put them all back in
The pinnacle of mad science.
These all look nice as fuck but I can't imagine the smell.
I managed to pop out an eye, a kidney, and a lung before he bought it when my doctor failed catastrophically.
Off to the butcher he goes, to be made into an armchair.
Oh shit. I didn't plan for this.
WE CAN REBUILD HIM
WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY
Why didn't you listen anon
you could've prevented this
remember that organ stealing and selling prisoners to traders will stack a mood debuff
it's very risky
Would you start a colony with him?
the natural smell of Mars
"musty, eggy smells also a slight hint of lavender potpourri, topped out with the unmissable note of overcooked meat pies"
combined with low-tide smell.
pic is the starting seed colony
>what somewhat fucks the feeling of having creating a realistic city is the size of the map, the heightmap you used seems to be of smaller ratio and dimmed height, so
It's impossible to judge without buildings for scale. I think the height map is fine.
>mfw gradually replacing my oil fields with forestry zones
>mfw got rid of all my depleted mining operations
Me too, anon. only 3 more days
Williams seems to be doing well for himself.
The entrance to Enkidu island
Does it matter if I have more production areas than necessary for a building? Does it make production faster or what?
Yes, eco makes nice happy tree buildings and the other makes gloomy industrial ones.
I don't think so, when you start min-maxing production chains excess fields will screw up your layouts. Been a while since I've played though.
Ended up stealing a heightmap from the Workshop and turning it into boreal.
No problemo. Post your city once it gets going.
How to prevent every building from being a euroshit highrise???
I just woke up.
God damn I've had laser eye surgery few days back.
I think all this looking into computers all day erry day ain't really helping.
nice comfy map to startoff, what are you planning?
i got inspired by the other anon and probably will build a boreal coastal minign town or something.
also in anno, which i just downloaded yesterday, what buildings require road access? it feels like it fucks with the space of function for most work buildings like woodcutter and farms.
how much is it then? 15?
i would consider if its worthit without afterdark.
ive been playing pirate for a long time and hasnt been a problem, skymods have really majority of the mods
I've just noticed that each time a building upgrades, it consumes 1 tool, so I've stopped the ascension of every building in the area. How do I get more tools? In 1404 I could simply buy them using my ship, but I don't have any here. And I can't build all the infrastructure necessary to produce my own tools yet.
Meanwhile on the far side of the city. Once the traffic started flowing out of the industrial area, everything else went to shit.
Fucking wind turbines. They're such a pain in the ass.
The rush hour continues long into the night. The highway has cleared up already though.
Whats the most effective way of connecting a highway to a city?
On the outside I usually use this but I think its rather shit
>How do I get more tools?
If you sail out you'll find NPC arks, those sell you tools. In fact your map shows you already found them, go look at those blue green grey and pink dots. You can also buy from other players docks, or set your dock to buy from traders.
Anno is a fucking pain on hard because of the AI. In all versions playing with high level AI is a landgrabbing hell where you better tech up before you find yourself unable to settle any good islands.
Just 4 ramps ending into a single 4 lane road can be enough. The capacity doesn't need to be amazing if you build more than one or two highway connections. I'm not so sure if it is even possible to handle an entire city with just one highway connection.
Alternatively, go MAXIMUM URBAN
Everything's fine now, there's almost no red in the whole map.
More smoothly flowing spaghetti.
Gelb passage: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=531944776
cause you fucked up
>build industry next to the river
>put houses on boring as fuck plains
should have put the houses on the river in a less griddy pattern and the industry as a grid in the middle of nowhere
fuck yeah, got a lake of poo and a dam that does nothing
Throw together a desktop, it's not that hard go ask /g/
