Okay, treat me like someone with 3 points in intelligence and explain to me how BoS are the good guys or generally not villains. Take as many paragraphs as you need.
what are some must have mods/patches for fallout 2?
>tfw you hear randall's voice right when you enter Frosthill
You mean no WRYE BASH?
>can't make your own mods
Don't see the problem
>no mod organizer
>no grafix mods

>I'm too much of an ADHD child and NEED to play with multiple different mod setups all at one time!
I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing what they do allow.
Modders are clever. Give 'em a set of limitations and- well, a handful of them will make magic happen, the rest will flood the market with memes and god-items.
But that handful will be breaking new ground for consoles. I might be PC master race but I'm excited as a gamer.
Should I buy a new laptop to run Fallout 4 or get an XBone? I've played all the Fallout games except for 1 and Tactics. I don't really game anymore but Fallout 4 has me hyped. This wouldn't even be a question if XBone didn't have mod capabilities. But since it will and I doubt I could find a laptop for under $400 that can run it I am at a crossroads on what to do.
>I don't really game anymore
Don't do either. Wait for it to come out, play it at a friend's house and make sure you're actually interested. Buying a game system based on hype is like drunk texting an ex.
You don't play any games at all? What else do you think you would use it for? Would you get more utility out of the longterm or are you already set up with a macbook/workhorse machine?
Yeah you should never buy any system just for one game, no matter what the game. Just go with whatever you think you'd make the best use out of, but please don't buy a laptop for gaming.
This. And it's not even that much more expensive than a console. The 750ti beats the shit out of even the PS4 performance-wise and you could link it up to your TV to use it as a media center.
Yeah you're probably right. I just have a strong urge to buy it on day 1.
I should have prefaced it by saying I need a new laptop anyways. It wouldn't just be for gaming. If I buy a console though I can get a much cheaper laptop for work/internet purposes. My current laptop is good enough for New Vegas + 3 with plenty of mods on both. I am a very casual gamer at this point. Besides Fallout I occasionally mess around with Age of Empires HD and some games from the Total War series but that's about it. I see the utility of a console also because I could use it as a blu ray player/Netflix. But I can just as easily plug an HDMI into a new laptop for that too.
Will console mods really be garbage? Im not into the pervy stuff so I don't think the content restrictions will impact me at all. Im more concerned that the mods that fix shortcommings the game has, which almost certainly will be needed, won't be available if I get an XBone.
Too many unknowns. Based on your gaming preferences I'd say the laptop is a better bet, just because I can't imagine playing an RTS with a gamepad, but the kind of lappie you'd need to run FO4 is going to blow out your budget and be overkill for everything else you're doing. If those are your only options, the console is more practical, even if it ends up nothing but a very expensive media player.
But again, don't do shit until you're out of hype mode.
Someone just added the official retailer description (Steam, for example) to a random pic-
Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, welcome you to the world of Fallout 4 – their most ambitious game ever, and the next generation of open-world gaming.
As the sole survivor of Vault 111, you enter a world destroyed by nuclear war. Every second is a fight for survival, and every choice is yours. Only you can rebuild and determine the fate of the Wasteland. Welcome home.
Freedom and Liberty!
Do whatever you want in a massive open world with hundreds of locations, characters, and quests. Join multiple factions vying for power or go it alone, the choices are all yours.
Be whoever you want with the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. character system. From a Power Armored soldier to the charismatic smooth talker, you can choose from hundreds of Perks and develop your own playstyle.
Super Deluxe Pixels!
An all-new next generation graphics and lighting engine brings to life the world of Fallout like never before. From the blasted forests of the Commonwealth to the ruins of Boston, every location is packed with dynamic detail.
Violence and V.A.T.S.!
Intense first or third person combat can also be slowed down with the new dynamic Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S) that lets you choose your attacks and enjoy cinematic carnage.
Collect and Build!
Collect, upgrade, and build thousands of items in the most advanced crafting system ever. Weapons, armor, chemicals, and food are just the beginning - you can even build and manage entire settlements.
Does anybody have good concepts of sexy power armor?
I'd like to get started on what will probably be my first mod for Fallout 4 early.
I know I want to do something with power armor, but I'm having trouble coming up with a design I like that matches the new animation style of PA.
Just one more month until I can end this pathetic faction and steal their hats.
The one good thing about the Minutemen is he seems to be the only cosplayer. Everyone else is dressed more sensibly.
That's a red herring.
Dogmeat is a Synth, and he has your infant son's brain and is secretly head of the Institute.
That's probably one of the generic wasteland outfits you'll find on every jackass hobo in the wild.
Anon is right, if you read the leaked script it sounds like they are just refugees not minutemen. Either way, they're all dead in my play through.
Just those two pages.
So PCfags make the mods, and consolefags leech off of them? I hope it'll be possibly to flag your mods so that consolebabies can't use them. I'm not putting in that work and effort just to have them piggyback off of it.
Yes, like anyone else that ever dared to dream of a bigger future he had to turn his back on the BoS.
>set up companions as leaders of all settlements
>settlements get attacked by raiders
>all companions in the vanilla game die and you're forced to play solo
I hope so, but I doubt it.
make it use ridiculous UltraHD textures or have it conflict with the most popular mod on consoles then let them download it. Let them waste a few hours trying to figure out why their game suddenly runs like ass. You know none of them will be careful enough to install a mod, then test.

maybe I'll be able to get 30 FPS at very low settings, right guys?
I hope my main man Desmond will be in Fallout 4
I had a Core 2 Quad 6600 @ 2.4Ghz, 4GB DDR2 and a 5770, recent games ran just fine. Not maxed out or on high settings, but medium at 1080p run great actually.
Should I go for a GTX 970 or R9 390? 390 is cheaper on my country mind you.

So I've looked vigorously and I can't seem to find a mod that removes the dizzy vision impairment effect that using Fixer gives you.
Do an of you happen to know of a mod that would just remove the visual effect when you take a Fixer?
It's fucking annoying as hell.

Now that I've seen the specs for Fallout 4, I'm wondering if I should fork out for an i7 or keep using the same processor I always have.
Make it yourself faglord.
My memory is a little fuzzy, but that should be attributed to an imagespace modifier. There's a bunch of them, and what they do is create post-processing effects that get called up upon their respective triggers. If you can find that one, there should be a way to remove it or alter it in the GECK.
A year after Fallout 4 releases, what will be the top 5 most downloaded mods on the F4 Nexus?
Not him but
>fuck consolefags they're responsible for shit like this
Well I assumed a knowledgeable PC Master Race anon would realize that MODDERS CAN FIX that on PC
But no you feel the need to be a dick to people on an anonymous Vietnamese papyrus board.

>they'll force something on the PC crowd
Remember when we had to pay for Skyrim Mods, Oh wait you don't because that got removed when enough people bitched
Bethesda isn't perfect, but fuck you if you think they could pull that off with absolutely no complaints.
>Oh wait you don't because that got removed when enough people bitched
By Valve, not Bethesda.
Bethesda have even said that they're still going to try paid mods again. This time it's going to be on their own Steam-like service so that Valve can't stop them.

Seriously grasping at straws now
>In an interview with GameSpot , Bethesda exec Pete Hines revisited the Skyrim paid mods controversy and shared some of his plans to give paid mods another shot. However, Hines confirmed that the Skyrim paid mods situation will definitely have to wait until Bethesda ships Fallout 4 , due this November 2015
>Just days after paid mods were introduced to the Skyrim Workshop, Valve pulled them down, saying in a statement, "It's become clear we didn't know exactly what we were doing." Now, Bethesda's Pete Hines, whom you may remember as the featured speaker at the company's first-ever E3 event last month, has shed new light on the situation and what the publisher might do next. Hines would like to see paid mods return, but stopped short of making any promises.
Straight from the mouth of Pete Hines himself.
They'll open with doom mods, everything hosted and supported through their own service. Then they'll start hosting the mods for their other games. Nothing monetized, all in the name of an improved user experience.
Then the next TES game will go through Beth.net exclusively (like uplay, you can buy it on Steam, but you're really going through Beth.net), and all mods/downloads will go through Beth.net exclusively, with files and load orders managed through the service rather than by the game itself.
And at that time they'll generously offer modmakers the ability to cash in on their hard work.
That's probably WHY they're not bringing mods to console, because they know comsolefags will eat it up without question. I never thought console would find a way to ruin mods, but here we are.
Correct me if im wrong but, by your definition wouldn't other people on the PC who download a mod that, say, you made and then have no intention of making or contributing to mod development, also be leeching? Again by your definition...
As much as I wouldn't pay for mods myself.... I really don't see why people are so butt-devastated that mod makers were given the choice to charge for their mods.
In all other instances were people make something, they are allowed to sell it and make money off of it, but when it comes to mods, people aren't allowed to make money off of the shit they made?
Its a bizarre double standard imo.
Go to 6:25, he states that PC-made mods are freely transferable to the Xbox One. There will be some limitations in place, obviously, but there's no Bethesdanet account you need
I didn't really care either
it was the fucking split though
>Modder gets 25%
>Valve gets 30%
>Beth gets 40%
It's kind of like a give and take system. PCfags making mods for other PCfags, we make mods for each other or test for each other. Give feedback and so on.
But consolefags wouldn't be making any mods or doing any of the work. Hell, a lot of the mods that PCfags have to make are fixes to problems caused by consoles.
So I'll be fucked if I'm letting consolefags use my mods.
That's actually a fairly common split when selling a derivative work though.
I real the guy who made some zombie game, think it was DayZ or something, explain that's actually a REALLY generous deal in the gaming industry.
For the short time that we had paid mods, everything went to shit. The quality of mods dropped and everything was overpriced.
Retards like you think paid mods will encourage modders to increase the quality and size of their mods, when in reality what happened was the opposite. Everyone half-assed their mods for a quick buck.

Living in the South can be kinda shitty, but my monthly bills are only a week and a half of work, and everything else goes towards guns, video games, and doting on my wife.
>Implying all mods are going to be that cheap
People freak out about it because most mods are shit, and a lot of people run with 100's of mods. Even at 99 cents each that's a few hundreds dollars, but that's just the mods you like. Not counting all the other mods you tried and didn't like.
The Quality of most mods just don't hold up to the standard of being paid DLC and there's no way to tell unless you take a dive and purchase it.
In the short time that Paid Modding was a thing people did run downs of the mods available and the "products" were atrocious. The fishing mod was hilariously buggy and broken, and when it did work it was fucking nothing. And I believe that one was like 7 dollars?
Modders aren't professionals and throwing money into the situation isn't going to increase the professionalism, it's going to increase the mentality for cheap knock offs and traps to make easy money. See: Mobile App stores.
First, they started with an established modding community understood to add value to a game, which comes across as "thanks for the hard work losers, now we're going to take away your toys and sell them to you".
Second, the split that >>118672860 mentions; perfectly legal, very difficult to spin.
Third, people prefer free to not-free; they had nothing they could point to and say "this is what you get in return", BEYOND goodwill towards the modder.
>"thanks for the hard work losers, now we're going to take away your toys and sell them to you".
Except no one took anything away from you, as you still had access to the mods you had already downloaded.
>very difficult to spin.
Theres nothing to spin because its the same deal used everywhere else in the industry, and everyone else has been fine with it.
>Third, people prefer free to not-free
I would like to get all my food, clothes cars, houses, and everything else for free, but the world doesn't work that way.

I mean, they shouldn't mind. Its what they have had all along anyway for 99.9% of every other console game until now. Im sure they wont mind another like that.
Ether that or we could try this crazy thing called progress which requires new ideas and innovations and moves us forward....
>I'm just saying this thread WILL go fucking nuclear. And not in a fun way.
Yep. I think I won't open up 4chan at all. Close all possible avenues of info off.
They'll go through the videos on the preload or just watch some streamer on twitch speedrun his way through it. Most of the times the people spoiling it have no interest in playing the game themselves.
No no i get that (PC and console here).
What im trying to ask/ say is more so in the way of what if there where consolefags that could provide feedback on mods in some way so that PCfags could make them better, and on the flip side what if there are PCfags that are doing what the console fags are doing, which is absolutely nothing in the way of aiding PC modders (they do exist i know that). Would they not be one in the same at that point, one contributing in some way, if even in the way of feedback, and the other in the way of "sit on your ass and wait". (Im giving people on console too much hypothetical credit if they would actually contribute, but lets pretend)
I understand that there is already the established system of the many PCfags that actually contribute with only a few that dont and just leech V.S. zero on the console of either at this point though...
It is, essentially. Russia, back when all the Communist countries were cozy, was distributing weapon designs to just about anyone interested in furthering the cause. After the war, lots of them got made into exports. One variant of the 213 shipped out with both a 7.62x25 and a 9mm barrel and maagzine. Mine is sadly just the 9mm, but it shoots great. The WASR, similarly, is just a semi-auto AKM. I lucked out; mine was purchased before the Assault Weapons Ban was passed here, so the magazine well is unmolested. Here's a better look at the 213. I call it my international gun. A Chinese copy of a Russian design, chambered in a German cartridge and exported to the US.
Gopher had a jag pretty similar to this on mrmattyplays or one of those YouTube joints.
His whole thing was paid mods could work, but the only angle to make money is in curation. As in, you must separate 50 modders from their pet projects, change bits of them so they work well together, and offer the whole thing as a "make dual wielding not shit" pack or whatever.
And then try to arrive at a royalty distribution which makes some kind of sense for that.
I listened to their podcast with a few other dudes, I agree with his idea of doing a 'best of the community' on-disc mod pack for the GOTY edition or whatever. For folks with shit-tier internet, it would be a godsend.
Implying i will decide to go on /fog/ any time before 6 months of starting the game
>I would like to get all my food, clothes cars, houses, and everything else for free, but the world doesn't work that way.
We've had free mods for decades, and it's worked just fine.
How about we compromise? I'll make my mods free on PC, and paid on console.

I'm worried that my computer can't handle Fallout 4.
I have an Intel Core2 Extreme CPU X9650 @3.00 GHz
8.00 GB RAM
and a GeForce GTX 970
Obviously I'm most concerned over my processor.
Since I'm not very tech savvy I'm just wondering if it's at least comparable in performance to an i5, or if I should take it out back, shoot it, and buy a new one.
Guys, he's a REAL Fallout fan on the site where REAL Fallout fans go to! I bet his opinion means a LOT!
You could try to strap a nice cooler onto it and push an overclock, but in the long term you would be better served with a new processor/mobo. If the memory is at least DDR3 you might be able to salvage that. Course, if you want to go cheap, the FX-8320 with a 970 mobo and 8 GB of DDR3 would only set you back about 300. If you find a refurbished or gently used board, you could throw a 212 Evo on top too at that price point.
It's a weird conversation to have. I believe that paid mods is the natural next step for the industry to take, and I ALSO believe that it will be a cancer that does irreparable damage to the community.
In its current state, modding self-selects for authentic creations. Most want to share with the community, some want to give to the community, a few keep it to themselves but they're still doing it out of a genuine interest.
Once there's a profit motive everything turns to shit. Horse armor. Charging two bucks for "better grass" that's literally a single-line ini tweak. Saturating the market with microtransactions, because it worked for apps and it worked for greenlight. Repackaging and releasing free mods. The entrepreneurs will drown the visionaries.
We'll always have modding guides and endorsements to help bring the cream to the top (uphill, thanks to vote fraud and puppet accounts), but we're losing another front me laddies.
FOSE disables it if automatically, and it's a requirement for a lot of basic improvement mods. So that's usually all most people bother with.

Not that I can convince you otherwise, you people actually took a joke phrase about Nazis and PC gaming and embraced it like the clueless mouth breathers everyone thinks you are.
If he really wanted to fucking kill himself, he'd do it. A video game won't stop you from offing yourself.
Little faggot writing sob stories for fucking attention. Holy shit this makes me mad. "I can't get meds because I'm on my parents' insurance." Bullshit.
As a player I'm going to have very little investment in their in media res relationship, and more investment in new relationships started after leaving the vault.
What do I do? Have an awkward conversation where s/he gets sad at my humping everything that catches my fancy, and probably have to endure passive-aggressive bitchiness for the rest of the game. No way will they not twist that knife.
Call Center Wifi Tech Support, 700$ every 2 weeks.
Basically customer service (Everyone hates you, but not you, your company/the company you rep, you're a good person just doing your job..) but you have to fix shit that is pretty much broken by the company in the first place. I want off that ride, so I'm looking for work where my degree (computer networking/repair/etc) actually is being used beyond helping people realize their wifi router that they're leasing from their ISP is shit.
"joined the mage guild, joined the thief guild, joined there werewolf guild" satisfies "join multiple factions vying for power". That shit is the vaguest marketing fluff imaginable.
NV main quests changed quite a bit depending on if you were with NCR, House, or Legion.
The only one that was copy paste was Yes Man, who was a mix of House missions + the kill House mission of NCR / Legion
No matter what faction you chose you still had to od basically the same big quest missions
-Get the Boomerso on your side
-Deal with the BoS
-Deal with house
-Deal with The NCR President
-Do the final dam battle
The only thing your faction really changed was post-game slideshows.
no matter what faction you chose you still had to od basically the same big finale
-take the hoover dam
the only thing your faction really changed was post-game slideshows
ur a faget
Dealing with the NCR president, the dam battle, the Vegas strip quests, and the ass loads of NCR vs Legion quests isn't a difference?
>Skills have been removed entirely, if the PIP-Boy screen is correct. There are only SPECIAL attributes and perks.
So they've just completely abandoned the whole "RPG" part of Fallout now?
I don't think I'll be interested in doing any sex mod type stuff until I'm bored with the main game. I have nothing planned right now other than just playing the game.
No, becuase 90% of those NCR vs Legion quests are mysteriously totally unrelated to the actual MQ.
-Forlorn Hope VS Nelson.
-Searchlight vs Cottonwood Cove.
-The whole Mccarren monorail thing.
-Doing shit like saving the Legion spy from the Omertas, or getting the Legion's howitzer gun fixed
-Dong shit like training NCR soldiers at Camp Golf to be better prepared.
None of it changes anything in the game itself, and all of it can be done before you get your pardon from both factions, meaning any prior relation you had gets negated.
Nothing fucking matters in NV within the game itself.
>tfw im in the exact same boat
>would literally have already killed myself if it weren't for fallout 4 hype
>tfw i'm starting to think the game will be shit
How do we start curating the good mods? Do we start a shadow-y cabal with the combined power of our collective autism to ensure that only the cream of the crop gets promoted?
I'm trying to think ahead of the game, we know that paid mods are coming. By being ready we can corner the market early and ensure only the good stuff gets out there. We'll be hated, but I don't want to see the kind of mods I was making for Morrowind to be on the front page of bethesda.net.
So why can't Bethesda hire more voice actors to give the protagonist potential different voices?
I wouldn't expect something like Saints Row's 7 options, but two for male and female should be possible shouldn't it? If fucking Bioware can manage it why can't Bethesda?
And? There are still massive differences between the factions, and you'll piss off the other one by working with one. The pardon is just there if you want to make a last minute switch.
If you think Bethesda will even have as much variation or depth as that you're being pretty silly.
Is New Vegas meant to look this shit? I installed all the texture mods and FNVLODGen from FAL. I'm not running ENB
>If you think Bethesda will even have as much variation or depth as that you're being pretty silly.
I dont think they will, and I don't really want them too.
NV was a game of quantity over quality, and it showed.
All of those choices didn't mean shit within the context of the game themselves, and it left each faction feeling totally unfulfilling.
I would rather have a higher quality, and more focused and fufilling narrative, over one with a million "choices" all of which amount to nothing.
>NV was a game of quantity over quality
NV had higher quantity and quality than 3. 3's quests were all worse and less memorable than NV, the weapon designs were worse, the uniques were just reskins with the same models etc.
This quantity over quality argument is silly because it comes up a lot and means nothing. Just because something is objectively superior in quantity, doesn't mean it's inferior in quality.
I would disagree, I found most of NV's quests to be terribly boring and less memorable then Fo3's.
Ultimately because they tried way to hard to be LE EPIC!, then failed to deliver.
Its a problem Obsidian has had forever, KOTOR 2, NWN2, AP, PoE, all of them suffer from OBsidian not understanding reasonable design goals, thus never being able to finish anything in a satisfying way.
I fucking love fallout but it has never cured my depression and in moments where i wanted to off myself it sure as hell wasnt video games that kept me going this dude is a confirmed bitch nigga.
Both games are far better than anything Bethesda has put out, and their writing is discussed to this day. They're two of the text book examples on what a well written video game story is.
>tried way too hard to be LE EPIC!
are you fucking retarded? new vegas was so good because it was so believable in the context. everything made sense in the world and all the quests were very involved in the world
on the other hand fallout 3 was all about the gimmick or the shock or the EPIC scale of things. fucking liberty prime, mega "WHOA POST NUCLEAR FALLOUT WORLD LETS STICK A BOMB IN THIS TOWN"ton, fucking little lamplight, and tons of quests besides were all about the shock of a singular thing rather than consistent good writing and believability
fuck fallout 3 and fuck bethesda
What makes Beyond the Beef so good?
TBH it was one of the most boring quests in Nv, because, even compared to NV's reactionless world, that quest had even LESS of an impact then anything else.
Are people really that easily amused by illusionary choice?
>are people really that easily amused by illusionary choice
>do people really enjoy making their own decisions in an rpg?
i bet you think DUDE TEDDY BEAR LOADED ROCKET LAUNCHER LMAO is just hilarious a-la todd howard
Fuck off, you always start off this pointless argument. If you like Fallout 3 better fine, but get it through your fucking head that some people enjoy the narrative payoff more than seeing a shitty generic caravan character visiting a settlement b/c you cleared a dull, kill-everything quest.
>What makes beyond the beef so good
There are so many ways to complete it. It doesn't matter what kind of way you've developed your character, you'll have a unique way to go through the quest. Along with that, there are many different paths you can take on the quest, and several endings.
It's a great example of putting open ended quest structure in video games
>-Get the Boomerso on your side
Who actually got the help of the Boomers? The quest was so long and tedious and the Boomers are such assholes I just genocide them and loot all their shit to sell. Even if I am doing a playthrough with no companions I grab Veronica and ED-E to carry more shit for me to sell before ditching them.
KOTOR 2 is the Nolan Batman of Star Wars games, it totally misses the entire fundamental basis of the Star Wars universe, just to shove in some ham fisted "MUH GREY MORALITY!" plotline, that was never actually finished.
KOTOR 2 is good if you hate everything Star Wars is based around, but that's about it.
>Mask of the Betrayer
>Muh supah special snowflake soapbox characters!
Fuck no, MotB totally negated all the importance of the sacrifice of the ending of NWN2 though a shitty dues ex machine 12th hour turn around.
And then managed to be basically totally unrelated to anything in the base game, while shoving in pretentious cardbox cutout soapbox companions like The Dove.
MotB is literally "armchair intellectualism" the game
but none of that matters because nothing changed no matter what you do.
Its literally illusory choice defined, and everything games should NOT try to be like since this is 2015, and the tech IS in existence to show those consequences.
You don't have to hate Star Wars to enjoy Kotor 2's anti force agenda, in the same way that you don't have to hate Fallout 2 to enjoy NV's anti expansionism agenda. Saying otherwise is fairly delusional.
>Muh supah special snowflake soapbox characters!
Jesus you're an idiot.
Does crouching help vats accuracy?
What does it matter if nothing in the world changes? There are narrative implications, and you get the satisfaction of having done something with a unique approach, along with knowing how your approach affected the world which you cannot see.
Do you think books are pointless because elves don't come visit you after you finish Lord of the Rings or some shit?
it literally cant be
people will lead you to believe differently but bethesda isnt ubisoft or one of eas puppet studios
theres no one big thing they can fuck up thats going to make people dislike it
youll like it at first then that like will slowly degrade to plain tolerance as the flaws become more obvious
youll still put 100+ hours into it
youll still shitpost about it because youre dumb and you have nothing better to do
this is how these things go
its not gonna be the greatest game ever, but itll be fun for a while, better decide quick if thats enough for you
>regarding the NWN2 OC as anything but a steaming pile
i can not remember one side quest from Fo3 that makes me want to replay it to try it a different way. I played it once 6 months ago and i liked it but it has no replay value compared to NV which i have been playing for years.
I did lie though if i did a Fo3 replay i would REMOVE GHOUL
this. you guys have dogpiled on this poor guy so badly he's probably freaking out at the cooldown timer on his post button and has woken his parents up with his stomping/yelling.
Because certain Bethesda drones start fuming from their ears whenever someone criticizes Bethesda for fucking anything.
You could say "wow, it's going to be annoying how buggy this game is going to be on release", and anyone who has EVER played a Bethesda game on release would agree, but these faggots will start attacking you about how you don't know if it will be buggy or not because it's not out yet.
That's how this argument started. Hell, it wasn't even started from a criticism of how someone thought 4 would be bad in a way, it was a criticism of Skyrim and 3 doing factions bad, which I thought most people agreed on ages ago.
Because Todd never changes
There are consequences in the writing. Things happen, you learn about the things that happen. You're saying that's not enough, but it's plenty.
Also, we're talking about quest design here too. Beyond the beef has plenty of narrative and gameplay choices, that's the point.
It is, you just managed to post when that /fog/get with fringe beliefs was here. For what it's worth (that is, very little), I thought Skyrim improved factions from FO3. I hope they keep that trend and FO4 is better than Skyrim.
Games are not books, what happens "in the writing" doesn't mean shit in the actual game itself unless its actually expressed IN THE GAME itself.
You are just mindlessly loyal to outdated as fuck means of making RPGs that stopped being valid after the very early 2000s.
Even fucking Mass Effect managed to express more in-game then NV.
>What happens in the writing doesn't mean shit
I disagree, as do many others. Being able to learn how my personal choices affected a world, even one far away from my own, is very satisfying, and much more so than having 0 choice with a couple of new scripted npcs afterwords, because then that just feels like a movie.
>RPGs that stopped being valid after the very early 2000s.
>Mass Effect managed to express more
Fuck you. You're why RPGs are barely discernable from action/adventure games these days. Instead of giving room for creative play and imagination it's being stomped out in favor of spoon feeding every bit of CINEMATIC VISION for shitty scripts that wouldn't even pass muster on a Hallmark channel production.
I would rather SEE then learn.
Learning was acceptable back in like 1995, when RPG's were mostly isometric games with shitty sprites, and technology simply couldn't support NPCs moving around/actually updating, but this is 2015, and we do have the tech.
There is no excuse for not using it beyond sheer laziness.
>Learning was acceptable back in like 1995
Is that when you were born? Filthy profligate.
>Learning was acceptable back in light 1995
You realize time and budget constraints are a thing right?
I want my choices to have meaning, not be railroaded into the same thing no matter what. At that point you might as well not give me a choice.
Text matters, it gives meaning.
>Fallout: New Vegas sucked
Also, people who publicize the fact they want to kill themselves generally are just attention whores. Now find a noose and prove me wrong.
Pic related. Profligate.
I'm still haunted by that animation in the 'atom bomb baby' video where that female boxer cheers to the crowd
all she has to do is turn around and it looks like she's a reject from the lego movie
Even Creation 2.0 is kinda meh
and they don't use MoCap for that kind of stuff
Fo3 only did this once with tennpenny tower. They did it really well but that quest only had 3 endings (kill ghoul, kill human, pass speech checks) and thats lazier to me than not "properly" showing the world change.
>I don't care if my games are actually complete, or actually games!
You don't seem to be a good fit for this kind of media.
The whole point of games is that you are supposed to PLAY them, not watch them like a movie.
Yes, they do. Because I have an imagination, and the act of knowing how my actions affected the world is enough.
I had 0 problems with FO3's original slideshow ending being a slideshow ending. My problem was the retardedness of Fawkes not going into the purifier, and the entire FEV subplot being silly.
It actually did it with every side quest.
Bethesda however understood the limits of their game, and thus didn't try to make their quests have these massively staggering world changes as part of their narrative.
>29 days till FO4
>E3 was almost 3 months ago
We almost there bros!
he's talking about retarded shit like a vampire from the family standing around arefu after you've completed the blood ties quest. he's basically prioritizing a generic NPC with zero interaction, an NPC you probably won't ever see since there is fuck all reason to go back to Arefu, over an end game slide/mention.
You always pick the same fucking argument in this general. You could at least have the decency to use a trip so that I have a chance of filtering out this stale argument.
So im wondering, can i build a settlement and then tell people to fuck off if they want to join? Just have an exclusive club of gay bearded men in my whole town forced to go pant-less and wear nothing but trench coats?
>Just have an exclusive club of gay bearded men in my whole town
I'm Tim Cain and I think this idea is FABULOUS.
HD texture pack
Something that adds survival elements like frostfall did for Skyrim
Various companion retextures
Probably some hair and shit.
I desperately want a UI overhaul because the Fo4 UI looks like total shit to me.
Who cares about significance?
What matters is that whatever action the action has is expressed in-game.
Are you a CoD baby who needs to have every fucking fart you make blow up half the planet or some shit?
