I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing what they do allow.

Modders are clever. Give 'em a set of limitations and- well, a handful of them will make magic happen, the rest will flood the market with memes and god-items.

But that handful will be breaking new ground for consoles. I might be PC master race but I'm excited as a gamer.

Should I buy a new laptop to run Fallout 4 or get an XBone? I've played all the Fallout games except for 1 and Tactics. I don't really game anymore but Fallout 4 has me hyped. This wouldn't even be a question if XBone didn't have mod capabilities. But since it will and I doubt I could find a laptop for under $400 that can run it I am at a crossroads on what to do.
>>
Laptops are shit and not meant for gaming. Either get a proper desktop and wallow in console filth.

Laptops suck.
>>
>>118656967
>I don't really game anymore
Don't do either. Wait for it to come out, play it at a friend's house and make sure you're actually interested. Buying a game system based on hype is like drunk texting an ex.
>>
>>118656967
>laptop

You don't play any games at all? What else do you think you would use it for? Would you get more utility out of the longterm or are you already set up with a macbook/workhorse machine?
>>

>>
>>118657050
>and

or*
>>
>>118657182

Yeah you should never buy any system just for one game, no matter what the game. Just go with whatever you think you'd make the best use out of, but please don't buy a laptop for gaming.
>>
>>118657413
This. And it's not even that much more expensive than a console. The 750ti beats the shit out of even the PS4 performance-wise and you could link it up to your TV to use it as a media center.

http://www.logicalincrements.com/
>>
>>118657087
Yeah you're probably right. I just have a strong urge to buy it on day 1.

>>118657096
>>118657112
>>118657389
>>118657413

I should have prefaced it by saying I need a new laptop anyways. It wouldn't just be for gaming. If I buy a console though I can get a much cheaper laptop for work/internet purposes. My current laptop is good enough for New Vegas + 3 with plenty of mods on both. I am a very casual gamer at this point. Besides Fallout I occasionally mess around with Age of Empires HD and some games from the Total War series but that's about it. I see the utility of a console also because I could use it as a blu ray player/Netflix. But I can just as easily plug an HDMI into a new laptop for that too.

Will console mods really be garbage? Im not into the pervy stuff so I don't think the content restrictions will impact me at all. Im more concerned that the mods that fix shortcommings the game has, which almost certainly will be needed, won't be available if I get an XBone.

I'm going to use a controller on the pc version.
>>
>>118657713
Too many unknowns. Based on your gaming preferences I'd say the laptop is a better bet, just because I can't imagine playing an RTS with a gamepad, but the kind of lappie you'd need to run FO4 is going to blow out your budget and be overkill for everything else you're doing. If those are your only options, the console is more practical, even if it ends up nothing but a very expensive media player.

But again, don't do shit until you're out of hype mode.
>>
>>118654705

Source: http://www.idigitaltimes.com/bethesda-plans-revisit-skyrim-paid-mods-after-fallout-4-459131

>Just days after paid mods were introduced to the Skyrim Workshop, Valve pulled them down, saying in a statement, "It's become clear we didn't know exactly what we were doing." Now, Bethesda's Pete Hines, whom you may remember as the featured speaker at the company's first-ever E3 event last month, has shed new light on the situation and what the publisher might do next. Hines would like to see paid mods return, but stopped short of making any promises.

They'll open with doom mods, everything hosted and supported through their own service. Then they'll start hosting the mods for their other games. Nothing monetized, all in the name of an improved user experience.

Then the next TES game will go through Beth.net exclusively (like uplay, you can buy it on Steam, but you're really going through Beth.net), and all mods/downloads will go through Beth.net exclusively, with files and load orders managed through the service rather than by the game itself.

And at that time they'll generously offer modmakers the ability to cash in on their hard work.
>>
>>118671650

>>
As much as I wouldn't pay for mods myself.... I really don't see why people are so butt-devastated that mod makers were given the choice to charge for their mods.

In all other instances were people make something, they are allowed to sell it and make money off of it, but when it comes to mods, people aren't allowed to make money off of the shit they made?

Its a bizarre double standard imo.

It's kind of like a give and take system. PCfags making mods for other PCfags, we make mods for each other or test for each other. Give feedback and so on.
But consolefags wouldn't be making any mods or doing any of the work. Hell, a lot of the mods that PCfags have to make are fixes to problems caused by consoles.

So I'll be fucked if I'm letting consolefags use my mods.
>>

For the short time that we had paid mods, everything went to shit. The quality of mods dropped and everything was overpriced.

>>118672740

>Implying all mods are going to be that cheap

People freak out about it because most mods are shit, and a lot of people run with 100's of mods. Even at 99 cents each that's a few hundreds dollars, but that's just the mods you like. Not counting all the other mods you tried and didn't like.

The Quality of most mods just don't hold up to the standard of being paid DLC and there's no way to tell unless you take a dive and purchase it.

In the short time that Paid Modding was a thing people did run downs of the mods available and the "products" were atrocious. The fishing mod was hilariously buggy and broken, and when it did work it was fucking nothing. And I believe that one was like 7 dollars?

Modders aren't professionals and throwing money into the situation isn't going to increase the professionalism, it's going to increase the mentality for cheap knock offs and traps to make easy money. See: Mobile App stores.
>>
>>118672659
First, they started with an established modding community understood to add value to a game, which comes across as "thanks for the hard work losers, now we're going to take away your toys and sell them to you".

Second, the split that >>118672860 mentions; perfectly legal, very difficult to spin.

No no i get that (PC and console here).

What im trying to ask/ say is more so in the way of what if there where consolefags that could provide feedback on mods in some way so that PCfags could make them better, and on the flip side what if there are PCfags that are doing what the console fags are doing, which is absolutely nothing in the way of aiding PC modders (they do exist i know that). Would they not be one in the same at that point, one contributing in some way, if even in the way of feedback, and the other in the way of "sit on your ass and wait". (Im giving people on console too much hypothetical credit if they would actually contribute, but lets pretend)

I understand that there is already the established system of the many PCfags that actually contribute with only a few that dont and just leech V.S. zero on the console of either at this point though...

It is, essentially. Russia, back when all the Communist countries were cozy, was distributing weapon designs to just about anyone interested in furthering the cause. After the war, lots of them got made into exports. One variant of the 213 shipped out with both a 7.62x25 and a 9mm barrel and maagzine. Mine is sadly just the 9mm, but it shoots great. The WASR, similarly, is just a semi-auto AKM. I lucked out; mine was purchased before the Assault Weapons Ban was passed here, so the magazine well is unmolested. Here's a better look at the 213. I call it my international gun. A Chinese copy of a Russian design, chambered in a German cartridge and exported to the US.

Gopher had a jag pretty similar to this on mrmattyplays or one of those YouTube joints.

His whole thing was paid mods could work, but the only angle to make money is in curation. As in, you must separate 50 modders from their pet projects, change bits of them so they work well together, and offer the whole thing as a "make dual wielding not shit" pack or whatever.

And then try to arrive at a royalty distribution which makes some kind of sense for that.

You could try to strap a nice cooler onto it and push an overclock, but in the long term you would be better served with a new processor/mobo. If the memory is at least DDR3 you might be able to salvage that. Course, if you want to go cheap, the FX-8320 with a 970 mobo and 8 GB of DDR3 would only set you back about 300. If you find a refurbished or gently used board, you could throw a 212 Evo on top too at that price point.

It's a weird conversation to have. I believe that paid mods is the natural next step for the industry to take, and I ALSO believe that it will be a cancer that does irreparable damage to the community.

In its current state, modding self-selects for authentic creations. Most want to share with the community, some want to give to the community, a few keep it to themselves but they're still doing it out of a genuine interest.

Once there's a profit motive everything turns to shit. Horse armor. Charging two bucks for "better grass" that's literally a single-line ini tweak. Saturating the market with microtransactions, because it worked for apps and it worked for greenlight. Repackaging and releasing free mods. The entrepreneurs will drown the visionaries.

We'll always have modding guides and endorsements to help bring the cream to the top (uphill, thanks to vote fraud and puppet accounts), but we're losing another front me laddies.

I'm trying to think ahead of the game, we know that paid mods are coming. By being ready we can corner the market early and ensure only the good stuff gets out there. We'll be hated, but I don't want to see the kind of mods I was making for Morrowind to be on the front page of bethesda.net.

I dont think they will, and I don't really want them too.

NV was a game of quantity over quality, and it showed.

All of those choices didn't mean shit within the context of the game themselves, and it left each faction feeling totally unfulfilling.

I would rather have a higher quality, and more focused and fufilling narrative, over one with a million "choices" all of which amount to nothing.
>>
>>118679951
>NV was a game of quantity over quality
NV had higher quantity and quality than 3. 3's quests were all worse and less memorable than NV, the weapon designs were worse, the uniques were just reskins with the same models etc.
This quantity over quality argument is silly because it comes up a lot and means nothing. Just because something is objectively superior in quantity, doesn't mean it's inferior in quality.
>>
>>118680357
I would disagree, I found most of NV's quests to be terribly boring and less memorable then Fo3's.

Ultimately because they tried way to hard to be LE EPIC!, then failed to deliver.

Its a problem Obsidian has had forever, KOTOR 2, NWN2, AP, PoE, all of them suffer from OBsidian not understanding reasonable design goals, thus never being able to finish anything in a satisfying way.

There are so many ways to complete it. It doesn't matter what kind of way you've developed your character, you'll have a unique way to go through the quest. Along with that, there are many different paths you can take on the quest, and several endings.
It's a great example of putting open ended quest structure in video games
>>

it literally cant be
people will lead you to believe differently but bethesda isnt ubisoft or one of eas puppet studios
theres no one big thing they can fuck up thats going to make people dislike it

youll like it at first then that like will slowly degrade to plain tolerance as the flaws become more obvious
youll still put 100+ hours into it
youll still shitpost about it because youre dumb and you have nothing better to do
this is how these things go
its not gonna be the greatest game ever, but itll be fun for a while, better decide quick if thats enough for you

Because certain Bethesda drones start fuming from their ears whenever someone criticizes Bethesda for fucking anything.
You could say "wow, it's going to be annoying how buggy this game is going to be on release", and anyone who has EVER played a Bethesda game on release would agree, but these faggots will start attacking you about how you don't know if it will be buggy or not because it's not out yet.

That's how this argument started. Hell, it wasn't even started from a criticism of how someone thought 4 would be bad in a way, it was a criticism of Skyrim and 3 doing factions bad, which I thought most people agreed on ages ago.

There are consequences in the writing. Things happen, you learn about the things that happen. You're saying that's not enough, but it's plenty.

Also, we're talking about quest design here too. Beyond the beef has plenty of narrative and gameplay choices, that's the point.

Games are not books, what happens "in the writing" doesn't mean shit in the actual game itself unless its actually expressed IN THE GAME itself.

You are just mindlessly loyal to outdated as fuck means of making RPGs that stopped being valid after the very early 2000s.

Even fucking Mass Effect managed to express more in-game then NV.

I disagree, as do many others. Being able to learn how my personal choices affected a world, even one far away from my own, is very satisfying, and much more so than having 0 choice with a couple of new scripted npcs afterwords, because then that just feels like a movie.

Fuck you. You're why RPGs are barely discernable from action/adventure games these days. Instead of giving room for creative play and imagination it's being stomped out in favor of spoon feeding every bit of CINEMATIC VISION for shitty scripts that wouldn't even pass muster on a Hallmark channel production.

Learning was acceptable back in like 1995, when RPG's were mostly isometric games with shitty sprites, and technology simply couldn't support NPCs moving around/actually updating, but this is 2015, and we do have the tech.

No, I want to have meaningful gameplay choices (how to approach a situation), meaningful political / moral / philisophical choices (which make me think, and I can reasonably asses others would pick something else even when being honest with themselves on what they truly believe is the right choice), and meaningful consequences (that are directly correlated to the choices I made in at least one of the above, either gameplay or personal choices, preferably both). The consequences can be told to me via text in a conversation, via a slideshow, a cutscene, or some characters appearing. I don't care how it's delivered, I just want to know that the choices I made had a difference.

That doesn't surprise me.

When done right it can make a game really good, but the vast majority of devs do it wrong, making games ass.

People seem to think that moral ambiguity has to mean every side sucks such major ass you don't want to join any of them, but HAVE to anyway to complete the plot.

Far to many games make it about choosing the lesser evil, rather then the greater good.

I honestly don't think we'll have much room for RPing or creating a defined character in Fo4. Not that you really could do that in any of the recent fallout games, but I think Howard or whatever you call him will end up being a brick. Kind of like Shepard in ME1.

I'd like to see a bit more on this stuff because the first little bit we saw with Codsworth was basically just an information dump so I don't really expect much from that. I'd like to see how a conversation with a companion goes. If it's still just Nice guy, Neutral guy, Dick guy, then there's not much hope.

Assuming there's not always a "Tell me more" option, it does leave one dialog option open for some other emotion. Emotional range definitely seems like it will be limited though.

>So, nothing a game can provide unless you are 10 and have never once read a book, seen a movie, or played any of the 5 million games before that deal with all these same political situations.
That's ridiculous to even suggest. To this day there are discussions of what's best for Vegas, either House, NCR, Independence, or Caesar's vision of the Legion. People also still discuss what can truly change the nature of a man regarding Torment, because almost everyone has a different answer. These questions make you think, they make you reflect, and your answers will be based on who you are as a person, not some objective right and wrong scenario.

>So your easily amused and will take whatever bullshit devs throw at you?
No, I'll take a reasonable output to my input, and that's fine. I just want to know what I did had some kind of effect.

Yeah, games tend to have very simplistic plots. For the most part they're still more or less stuck on the idea of the monomyth. There's variations of course, but the general idea is the same. It's a very familiar arch for a story.

Character motivation is something games rarely do well as well. Bad guys are just bad guys for the most part. I'm too tired and drunk to get into it but it seems like you probably get what I'm saying and I don't need to explain.
>>
>>118686668
There is rarely such a thing as picking a greater good. If both sides were good, then they wouldn't be causing such a ruckus with one another.

Picking a greater good is like picking a charity, but it's very rare that you'll see charities fight over donations or something to that effect.

That's because its a false question, intentionally designed to have no right answer.

Its like the ending of Inception "did the top fall or not?" its a pointless argument because the movie was specifically designed to be unsolvable.

Its the equivalent of argument what constitutes a jackalrfasour, its fictional, totally made up with no perimeters, there is no right answer.

People who argue if NCR/Legion/House/Indie are the right answer are idiots arguing over a black hole of a question. There's nothing there to asnwer.

Its just a false pseudo-intellectualism debate over a purposefully unanswerable question.

Its pointless unless you are trying to show off how much you can tip your fedora to justify your wrong answer.

You mean like the real world?

It's a point of discussion. People discuss it for the same reason they discuss politics, it's simply another medium to do it. Expansionism vs. Conservatism vs. Isolationism vs. Techno-progressivism

These are all ideologies that have been held by real world groups, countries have even based their culture on such ideologies. That's what the discussion is about really.

Yes, but unlike the real world, there is an actual reason for the question to not be answerable, in that it is nature.

Sort of, except, unlike MMOs were the ENTIRE zone is set for specific level characters, its just this one specific area, and that one small area, and this and that one dungeon,.

In Skyrim, it was generally done by the higher up the mountains it was, the higher the minimum level was.

Those!:
1) Sell kid into slavery or bring him to family.
2) Acquire Ant Powers (game-play impact)

Megaton:
1) Disarm Bomb (Gameplay impact, talon mercs, housing location)
2) Detonate Bomb (Removes town, housing location)
3) Quests solved by either lying or actually doing stuff.

Blood Ties:
1) Many resolutions.
2) Gameplay impact possible.

I don't know. I felt like all of the impact in New Vegas is basically "pick one faction to annoy you all game". When I was younger (20 or so) I liked New Vegas a lot more. Now that I'm about 30, I like Fallout 3 a lot more.

In Fallout 1 and Fallout 2, most of your quests are contained to areas of the game world and the hubs are pretty great. I think what both FO3/NV lacked is something like New Reno, where you pick a family to back, and it does have a lot of meaning for an area, but it's not too obnoxiously large scale (making obnoxious hunt teams follow you). It unlocks things like Myron, that one army depot, etc.

I feel like FONV has a few better characters, but that FO3 has more enjoyable exploration and hubs.

I think the whole premise is a bit fishy and you have to consider the location-- near the Institute.

What does the Institute make? Synthetics.

In FO3 we are shown that Synthetics like Harkness can have their memories wiped and have a false past implanted. Harkness sincerely believed he had a completely fictional past.

My guess is that our PC is actually a Synthetic, programmed with a fake past to believe he actually lived in the Pre-War era, probably as a part of some important experiment.

Just find out what this game's karma dispenser is and the currency it requires. In 3, the dispensers were hobos and the currency was water. In NV, the dispensers were Fiends and the currency was ammo/weapon condition. I doubt cheesing your way to sainthood will be much more difficult in 4.

Statistically speaking they weren't.

The DT armor system was borked, making even Enclave PA give effectively zero more damage protection then vault security armor.

Bypassing armor meant nothing, as armor basically did nothing in NV.

Any sense that AP gave you more damage was placebo effect.

The problem was so bad even Sawyer addressed it and gave all medium and heavy armors DR in his mod so they would actually provide more armor then light armor did.

Unless you were using Sawyers mod, or some other mod that added DR to medium and heavy armors, AP rounds were worthless.

Wrong
Deathclaw with 30DT
vs.
My rifle that does 40 damage per shot.

Normal situation: 10 damage done (this exceeds the minimum of 8 damage, so a simple subtraction is applied)

When applying AP however, 15 is subtracted from the DT.
AP situation: 25 damage done

Saying AP ammo was a placebo is literally retarded. The problem with the DT system has to do with the minimum damage leak being at 20%. If say, something had a DT of 100, then yes, AP ammo would be pretty useless.

I don't know. New Vegas has a lot of rather childish parts to it as well.

The biggest offender is Ulysses who is basically a souped up version of the Sarsaparilla bottle cap man, who has apparently watched you your entire life, scrawls "Courier Stay Out" while inviting you to him, etc. That whole plot line was awful. Lonesome Road was a mistake.

The Kings are also a bit silly, the hard part is that a certain amount of silliness is fitting for the Fallout universe.

>>118693162

While I think the characters and backstory are done better, I think the map itself is much less interesting and the locations aren't nearly as great, outside of a few of the very cool vaults. It might just be because I played it to death and the territory is too well tread. I also don't like how the game has a somewhat linear feeling. Going outside of the NOVAC loop means fighting the tide rather than going with it. FO3 feels like you can basically head any direction from the start.

New Vegas has the more satisfying ending, with FO3's being completely stupid (apparently my super mutant wants me to kill myself). But larger portions of the NV story are also unrewarding (constant your princess is in another castle with Benny). Meanwhile at least FO3 main story line has better locations going for it.

I hope that Obsidian gets a turn with Fallout 4, but we'll see.

>>
>>118694862
I fucking laid the math out to you in front of your eyes you god damn retard, how are you not seeing this shit?

I will say it again. The problem with DT in NV was that the leak was set to 20%. What this means, is that in many situations your armor didn't matter a lot, because it would hit that 20% cap no matter what at lower values, and at really high values it was better to have some DR which divided the incoming damage instead of applying a subtraction. All issues concerning DT in NV were on the player end of the spectrum, because the system was designed for enemies rather than the player itself. The game was also not properly balanced to be able to lower the leak of DT to something like 1%, because then you'd be fucking invincible with power armor. (Though in all honesty it should have been at like 8%, which would have been a much better system). This is why Sawyer added DR values to armor as well in his mod, because that way they would do well against extremely high damage values, and would also lower the lower damage values more significantly than some lesser armors.

Again, the problems of DT in NV had nothing to do with the ammo types / enemies. It had to do with the player / armor. AP was extremely useful in NV, to the point where it was actually better than HP in any situation that the enemy had more than like 4 DT.
>>
>>118695052
My biggest problem with NV is that the plot didn't really make sense to me.

-I felt no reason to go after Benny, given that he already dropped me once, and is now likely in the seat of his power, surrounded by tons of guys I likely wouldn't be able to beat, and given that he stole a, for all I knew at the time, harmless poker chip, I honestly couldn't see my character's motivation for going after him beyond very petty revenge. This was a problem even Sawyer admitted too on his forumspring.

-Then after getting to Benny, all these big players suddenly start sucking my cock, asking me for help, for no real reason.

-Then they all tell me they need my help in winning the war for them, and then 90% of their missions turn out to be totally unrelated to the actual war effort, and are instead pointless diplomatic missions that would logically be done far later.

Then there was bizarre questions unanswered like why didn't the NCR use its small fleet of vertibirds to drop mini-nukes on The Legion's fort, killing the Legion's entire leadership in one blow.

1) It doesn't have to be going after Benny but going after the package you lost to finish the job you started.

2) Revenge stories are common, especially in spaghetti westerns. Often, notably in videogames, it doesn't matter how well fortified/protected/powerful an individual is as long as you can give as good as you got.

3) A thinking man might realize that no one would fuck you over that bad with hired muscle and trek halfway across the desert just to seal "some poker chip" and realize it's an object of high value, possibly want it for themselves if it almost cost them their life. Maybe Vegas needs a new king.

4) People will often try to ascribe any kind of meaning they can to extreme misfortune befalling them, and if someone tries to kill you, you might develop a potentially unhealthy interest in finding out why. Curiosity is a very human trait.

5) I think it takes a particularly debilitating brand of autism not to realize any of these potential hooks for the plot of New Vegas playing out as it does. It bothers me that this is argued this frequently here because I like to believe that /fog/ isn't filled with people so creatively bankrupt they can't POSSIBLY imagine why their character would try to get to Vegas.

1. Your job only consists of gong back to the mojave express, telling them some idiots stole the chip, and letting them deal with it since its their business.

2. Good revenge plots however have something OTHER then revenge as the main motivation though. Dishonored for example was more about recusing the princess and saving the nation then it was actually about revenge.

3. Even then, what I said in number 1 still applies, Its not your job to get it back, its the mojave express's.

4. That is the trait of psychopaths, the kind of people who drive across America to kill their wives because they find out she was cheating on her husbando. This is not the mentality shown by the Courier.

5. Are you saying sawyer is autistic? Because even he admitted there was very little reason to go after Benny, and that they should have allowed the Courier to exit out of the mojave via the Mojave outpost, and gotten a game ending out of that.
>>
>>118697013
1).... yeah I'm not doing this again, every counterpoint you made is pretty much bullshit. You can argue all day back and forth basically saying "but I wouldn't" but you can't really make an interesting game out of that. There's plenty to suggest that the Mojave Express is more militant and trustworthy in its deliveries anyway, especially since Johnson Nash (the only other active Mojave Express person you meet in the Mojave) states he'll help you find your package in any way you can rather than telling you it's not part of your job description.

Point being, the reasonable, laid-back world of the 21st century as we know it is not Fallout's world, our mentality need not be the Courier's mentality nor would a more laid-back "let bygones be bygones" ever be an interesting way to carry out a game, because it leaves no answers, no resolution, no nothing.

I honestly hope that no one that thinks the way you do when approaching fiction ever writes a book or screenplay, because I'm sure it'll be some of the dullest, most pretentious shit I've ever had the misfortune of viewing.

Stop using Sawyer as a shield, it's not doing you any favors.

Also
>there's no reason for someone with a storied or violent past to dress like an unassuming civilian when transporting expensive goods, nevermind just because it's comfortable

And please stop ascribing your own mentality to the Courier's, because the character is whatever people choose them to be. That was half the reason for the "Courier's Stash" pre-order DLC's to exist in the first place, ascribing gear to suggest some of the Courier's "blank slate" history or personality.

And regardless of ANY of what you stated, being shot in the brainpan could easily alter anyone's personality, whether it be for the worse or for the better.

And the only reason I'm even confronting you on this line of bullshit you've got going on now is because I've seen you present this same stupid argument multiple times across numerous threads over the past few years in exactly the same format.

>but you can't really make an interesting game out of that.
Both Fallout 3 and Skyrim managed to produce far more logical motivations for doing what you did.

-Fallout 3 had you going after your only family, and the last connection to the life you ever knew.

-Skyrim just had some guy asking you to go to Whiterun to warn the Jarl a fucking dragon might attack this nearby settlement of totally unguarded people, just like it did Helgan.

I could see why the character would do both of those things, even if they are simplistic motivations.

I think it's a safe assumption to make that his reaction would be "negative", especially considering that a staff member as important James just left and undermined the overseer's rule.
He's supposed to be a doctor/scientist, and not a complete retard, right?

I've been enjoying TTW. The site has compatible graphics mods for the capital wasteland as well as other mods. The gameplay is a good step up too.

Sounds like a big "I don't know" to me. Even if something bad would happen, there's no indication he expected anyone to get hurt. Even if rules got strict or people got locked up, at least his kid is safe.

How come Fallout 4 is going to be Bethesdas "Fable 3"?

>voiced protagonist

>>
>>118698987
So two similarities makes it like another game?
>>

Voiced protag and dialog wheel are what I'm worried about most of all. Those are probably the worst additions I've seen in a Fallout game.

Even if he has "no idea" about what might, he didn't have ANY contingency to keep you safe?

Still no idea what the fuck this thing is supposed to be. Though It almost looks like the concept art Bethesda did for Wanamingos in Fallout 3, what with the big mouth and all. Main difference is this has four legs instead of two.

Nexus can't do shit about it if Bethesda decides to cut them out of hosting mods for future games

With the changing legal climate in regards to copyright law Bethesda could be held responsible for content its users create in the future. And with all the porn, loli, and copyrighted content based mods out there, that could be a massive liability if and when such laws holding them responsible come into effect.

Best way to avoid that shit is to remove modding altogether, but that would never fly with their fanbase, so the second best is to usurp control of all modding entirely, ensuring anything that users put into their games has to pass by you first, so content that can get you in legal trouble can be screened out. It also gives you the advantage of monetizing content or even the act of modding itself.

I'm not saying that this is what will happen, but if I were them this would be my endgame.

SUPERDOGS

I guess Supermutants wanted pets.

Also Supermutants with pets makes me think of WH40K's Orks' Squigs. And with those big ol' mouths...Squig mod inevitable.

The Orks would laugh and laugh watching their Squig herds eat you alive.
>>

Question? Sure. But that's not too bad. The overseer is a stubborn man, but he isn't violent. Project purity is worth the risk.

I'm delaying my two-week notice for my current job to have it end on release.
>>
>>118701727
We're talking about future games using Bethesda net. FO4 will likely have workshop and Beth.net as sources for mods in addition to nexus, but TES6 may very well be Beth.net only, Steam only handling licensing for that version of the game.

>>118701765
If it's paid time off, you get to have your cake and eat it too. Anyways, time off isn't just for vacations or health reasons (which generally is separate), it can be used if you just need to get away from the job for a bit and refresh.
>>
>>118668379

Just upgraded to an Asus R9 390OC, and even with relatively outdated hardware (i7 950, 16gb DDR3) I getting decent frame rates on all games playing on maxed out settings.

>i cant see myself going after benny for a silly revenge motive
maybe i was really mad that he shot me in the head and want to kill him for it. maybe im really interested as to why the chip was so important that he tried to murder a nobody for it. maybe a lot of things

the point is youre so blinded by your bias and todd's dick in your mouth that you cant see fathom any opinions other than the one you already formulated. new vegas' motivation to go after benny is NO MORE ridiculous than fo3s motivation to go after daddy and skyrims motivation to go to whiterun.

seriously, fuck you and all the other bethesdrones in this general
>>
>>118701765
If you're like me and playing F4 on Pc then it doesn't matter
Beth games are always broken on PC launch
>>
>>118702067
game requires an auth code from the server to load external files, mod files downloaded from beth.net are encrypted, mod tools use a scratch folder for mod authoring that loads loose files but the game itself cannot load loose files, any game-usable plugin or archive is only output in encrypted form.

It'll get cracked for sure if they do this but it will stifle modding pretty badly
>>
>>118702137

>>
>>118702375
>actaully preordering
Is there any exculsive preorder gear?

If not then you are a good goy
>>
>>118702067
How far would non-Beth.net modding get if you couldn't drop files into neat little override directories? If you couldn't manage load orders offline? If the game natively rejected files that hadn't been authorized by Beth.net? If compiled mods only lived on the cloud?

See >>118671917 for my take on the future. I'm sure some smart cookies will figure out how to crack both the game and modding for the game (I doubt they'll go Diablo 3 on it) but it'll be a pain in the ass and more trouble than it's worth for most gamers. Remember, we're a minuscule sliver of their target audience.
>>
>>118702275
I highly doubt Bethesda would do this.

Even with Skyrim, the option of charging for mods was always a CHOICE, and they even let guys over at the nexus, and other high tier modders like Arthmoor, test out the system before they released it, to see how they felt about it.

Its very obvious they did try to see how modders owuld react to it, and wanted to get their opinions on it.

I doubt they would go 180 degrees on it and make it a forced Beth.net only thing.

That's never been Beth's style.

I realise this is a late reply but because it never really got answered, that isn't a scope. It's not meant for long range shooting, it's meant to assist with sighting so you can get your target quicker than just looking down the barrel, same as an iron sight. It's not meant to be something that helps shoot stuff further away.
>>
>>118676552
I think that mods should meet a certain criteria before having the option to slap a price-tag on them.

>Entirely unique content.
>Generally positive verified reviews over the course of two months.
>File size increases the amount of money you can charge at rate of $1/1GB.
>Modders are obligated to fix ANY AND ALL bugs determined by the community to be caused by the Modder's product, lest their license be revoked.

This ensures that only the best Modders have the right to charge for their work, while also enforcing proper workmanship.
