Well there's a good reason for that. Spoiler They're not good games. They tried to differentiate themselves from SMT with that shitty card system and it doesn't work. Breaking one of the main mechanics from SMT and now Persona 3/4 just made for a not-great experience, and people definitely hype up the story beyond what it actually is. I think the p1/2 community here are worse than anything the 3/4 one has right now with "MUH BEST BRO" and "MITSURUxNANJO" and all the circlejerking every time you bring it up. Then you get mad people haven't played it because they don't like the dated gameplay and shitty mechanics.

The way the characters behaved was awful and I can't tell if it's intentional or if they just had this REALLY cool idea for a SEES death tournament and needed to get it in there by having every character bend to yukari, who was the only driver of conflict.

On the other hand it retconned the club book and it's not really bad, so I can't hate it

Even with that passing mention at the Nanjo group, it still dumped all the info we had about shadows from P1/2 already, and could barely be counted as part of the P1/2 verse until the retcon.
