Press turn is all about getting extra turns when you hit weaknesses
P3/P4 operates on the same concept but with all the penalties for messing up stripped away and without the skip system. I'd wager that you haven't played DDS or Nocturne because you'd know that the press turn systems in those games are intuitive and fun from a gameplay perspective, and that P3/P4 is the same thing but less.

The only time you're going to use dragon hustle is in late-game bossfights like Margaret, Izanami, Kusumi.
Even then, it's completely unnecessary to use for Izanami and Kusumi because they go down quickly anyway.
So you're only going to use it on Margaret, unless you mean that there are people who honestly blow their SP items so that Chie can use dragon hustle in trash fights in Izanami's dungeon.

Get a persona with all the ma-kaja spells and you have a free dragon hustle for all of your fights, and you'll undoubtedly win before they wear off (or on bosses, it'll wear off but they'll be so weak that the only thing you need to re-apply is matarukaja, which kanji can do so that you can hassou tobi). There you go, SP efficient and consistently applicable minmaxing.

It's not saving expensive moves for tough fights. It's saving one expensive move for one tough fight. Because there's no point using it on anything except Margaret. So the rest of the time it's just sitting there taking up a slot in Chie's move list.

For what purpose? Because of how easy it is to break P4, you're really meant to fight Margaret solo, just like the protagonist did in P3 when he fought Elizabeth. And even then Margaret's a pushover, meanwhile Elizabeth can pull the trigger on the 9999 Megidolaon thanks to certain conditions. Margaret only does it on a certain turn.

This isn't saying much. Honestly I'd put Kusumi ahead of Izanami by a very wide margin as well because of her gimmick, Izanami is easy as shit.

You could also spin this to say that you're gimping yourself by bringing Chie for her power charged god hands over Kanji for his power charged primal forces.

If you ask me, you don't need to fight defensively on the Izanami fight at all because she is offensively weak. So there's no reason to not bring Kanji over Chie and have him Matarukaja when Chie would've Dragon Hustled, and he'll be outputting more damage than Chie does.

You're right that Chie doesn't have anything else that could fill up the slot Dragon Hustle uses, though. At least nothing that I can think of off the bat.

I'll be brutally honest. I wanted to live the idealized fantasy of high school gone better. I was a complete wimp and pushover in high school, since I let others take advantage of me, and rarely fought back.

I idealized Door-Kun because he had so much going for him. Don't get me wrong, I really do like the gameplay, the music, the artwork, the characters, the lore, the plot, and the aesthetics. Everything just meshes well together, and am super hyped for P5 as well. I can't wait to see how they pull P5 off.

Chie is better at clearing trash than Kanji due to phys Aoe, punt, crits
Kanji is better than Chie at doing single-target damage and thus better for bosses (unquestionably so for all bosses before Kusumi)
In the end I didn't change my mind about anything at all
