Same thing kind of happened to me. I lived in Texas for a bit when I was about 7 or 8. We were kind of in the country and down the street from our house was this old lot with overgrown grass that was perfect for snakes and spiders. Every now and then one would make it into our yard but never into the house.

Then one day I was getting ready to go outside. Opened the front door and the first thing I see hanging on the screen door is a big ass tarantula. Since I was a kid at the time and short it was right at face level too.

Can't fuck with spiders at all anymore because of that.

I think its that spiders themselves aren't that creepy its the surprise of the sight of one that's unexpected. For instance my worst experience with spiders.
>Walk down driveway as the sun just set.
>Don't see the orb weaver spider sitting in the middle of its web

That setting a dark corridor walking and being caught off guard not by a charging spider but a spider waiting for you would be ideal.

I try, dude. I love nature documentaries and there are a lot about spiders. I've watched quite a lot of them, though I've had to cover my face for a lot of the scenes where they show close-ups of their face.
The worst one I know of is one of those spiders that use its web as a net. It hangs from some leaf, looking down, with a square shaped net. They're pretty long and their eyes freak me out to the point where I start sweating just by seeing a picture of them.
I've also gone to a zoo where they had a small terrarium with tarantulas that you were allowed to pet. By pet I mean touch the hind legs. They specifically told people not to touch anything else or it may shoot out its hair missiles or something. I consider the fact that I was in the same room as those things a huge victory.
I don't really think there is a real cure for phobias. They're completely irrational and deeply rooted in the brain.

Trust me, they can be cured. I know many others in tshi hobby who entered it to cure their phobia. At first, keeping a big spider in their house was terrifying, but they grew to love their Ts.

Now of course, results may vary. Some of those people In mentioned love their tarantulas, but still freak out over other spiders, but either way you have to give it a shot, man.

Runescape has several spiders you can kill but the largest and most dangerous ones are Arraxor and his mate Araxxi.
If you get lucky you can use their body parts to assemble high level weapons.

Same with me.
It's the way the smaller lower eyes resemble nostrils that gets to me.
They give it some sorta eerily human-like face that just awakens all my primal fears at once.
Without them, they'd probably look almost cute to me like jumping spiders do.

The things that bothers people about spiders is not the appearance. It's more their seemingly unnatural movement with the 8 legs.

Most games don't emulate this, they move around but they move like cows or bears. Not skitterish like spiders.

Dragon Age Origins had fairly decent spiders in this regard.

Why all this hate towards spiders? They are quite cute and fancy, many just have cats or dogs but not many have spiders. I would like to have a spiderbro walking on my desk and on my keyboard while playing vidya, and relaxing on the heat from my PS4 or desktop that's next to me. I want a tarantula. You cannot pet the spider. They are wired so almost any touch they feel is taken as an attack and they will either run or retaliate.
They cannot be trained. They are not intelligent enough for that.
They require a constant care. If you are not careful with them, well...
They are not a benefit to your household. You won't let it run around killing ants, cockroaches and mosquitoes. A cat will kill mice and sometimes rats, a dog will kill a rat and other vermin.

So yeah apart form looking cool in a terrarium they are useless and potentially dangerous.

People who have spiders as pets just do it because they look cool. Pretty much using them as decoration, or to have something about them stick out. It's kind of fucked up when you think about it.
Spiders belong in the wild, not in your bedroom. At least with a dog you get a mutual relationship, since dogs are capable of joy and sadness. Spiders are basically just machines. They're too simple to be pets.

Different species and individuals vary in temperament. Most new world tarantulas are very docile.
>They cannot be trained. They are not intelligent enough for that.
True, but they can learn to recognize your "scent" by feeling their feet. I've done it countless times
>They require a constant care. If you are not careful with them, well...
Many tropical species are kind of k=high maintenance, but over half need only food and a water bowl and they're good to go.

Besides, you can make a dog happy by taking care of it. The same can not be said about a spider. You don't get a dog just to make it dependent on you. You get one to form a bond and/or to help out with herding sheep.

Nah. Common myth. They were so big because of lack of competition from vertebrates. For example the biggest flying insect ever (Meganeura) lived when oxygen was actually lower than today. The biggest arthropod (Arthropleura) ever lived when oxygen was comparable to today.

It's true that oxygen is a limiting factor if you just let it diffuse passively into your body but these large arthropods didn't do that, even large bugs today actively pump oxygen. The exoskeleton becomes a problem much sooner than the oxygen in the air.

Everyone on the coco-crab preserve might as well just be cocobros because the crabs basically don't have natural enemies if humans don't hunt them.

The young crabs with the hermit shells actually have that agreement with the oldfag crabs. The big ones crack open the coconuts and the little ones get the leftovers.

I just made this for you (I hope this is right, I'm not good at Reptilia).

It's like this. Dinosaurs are a group of reptiles, they're not lizards, they are something different but still belong to the reptiles. All the groups of dinosaurs died out, except the theropods. Birds were/are in that group, they are a group of specialized theropod dinosaurs.
Yes, that means birds are reptiles and dinosaurs are still around.

>How do we know if they had feathers or not?
We found them. There are plenty of dino fossils with beatifully preserved feathers.

It's defending itself and fears for its life. Also it's in a bad condition, one of the elongated front legs is broken off. They need those to "see", it's their main sensory organ, it's like you're blind in one eye. Also for a whip spider to get this defensive it must have been harassed to no end, they usually don't react like that, they just run away.

They're actually pretty damn systematic. They've evolved to use the moon as a static reference point when navigating in darkness, but humans were jerks and invented other light sources. They're trying to fly straight but their reference point isn't staying still. It's too close. So they'll circle around the lamp until they're right on top of it. It's pretty sad really. Moths can't fly straight because we want to see in the dark. :(

it means "different legs" as in some legs are different from the others, specifically the first two pairs are actually rotated forwards so that the "knee" points backwards.
