Probably a combination of absolutely 0 marketing and most people writing it off due to a) Dragon Quest not being a big name this side of the world (meaning any non-Japan side) and b) being a 無双esque.

Not many people talk about DQ in general here because /v/ is full of casuals.
And this spin-off wasn't great, it was pretty fun though.

I love Dragon Quest, but I don't like Dynasty Warrior button-mashers

Eh I'd say its truly one of the most mediocre games I have ever played. I platted it and I dont think after the first 10 minutes I truly had "fun". It does alot of new things for a musou which I really appreciate but unfortunately it does none of them well. The best thing about the game was the character models which looked crisp but that is about all I can give the game.

Dragon Quest isn't a big name in the West because the games are horribly outdated and refuse to innovate or compete with much better JRPGs that have more complex gameplay.

There are very few games /v/ actually talks about after release. Some of the games that /v/ still talks about feature waifus, the others are stuff like MGSV. Usually though most discussion gets replaced by the next AAA hype train though.

Just to plat it to trade it in. Thats it. Make it a rule to get at least 75% completion of trophies if I buy a game for $60 to say I got my moneys worth. Got 75% in this and saw it wasnt hard to plat at all and just did it. Think the last few hours was listening to MTG coverage while grinding mini medals. No NG+.

Post game as in Zoma, Nok and Atlas? Do-able with a level 99 party the first time around. Especially Terry vs Atlas, you can charge up your next coup de grace with him during each stun from the previous. The enemies that spawn and go right for the root are the only problem I faced.

Pretty irrelevant considering PS3, prior to this, has not had a single DQ game on it.

As far as anecdotal goes only one of my friends who like JRPGs has completed a single DQ game (VIII) and he also bought Heroes. Rest of them can't get into it.

I would have bought it, if it was a DQ RPG or DQM game. (Or even a Rocket Slime game)

But I just don't want to have another Musou game I probably won't play much. Hyrule Warriors is enough for me.

Maybe when it's dirt cheap I'll scoop it up like I did with Type 0 HD (It's going for around £9.50 now), but it's not the sort of game one rushes out to buy.
