I'm a huge fan of Ryu's classic costume. Young Ryu with the white headband is my favorite Ryu design. I think it looks good in SFV's engine as well, maybe if they toned down his muscles a little bit it would be perfect. Ken's doesn't look too great, but that's to be expected because Capcom can't design Ken in a 3D space to save their damn company.

I really hope everyone feels powerful in the final version. One of my least favorite things about SF4 was everyone who was once really powerful was dumbed down drastically throughout the series in terms of strength.

Its hard as Bison main for me to get full hype SSF4 Bison was solid as fuck but since people couldn't adapt he got nerfed. Same with E.Honda/Guile. Several of the top tiers didn't even win a major during SSF4.

I'm afraid Capcom will tease me with this strong Bison again and make Ryu dull as dirt in the release version. And you know they won't buff people who are weak when its out they will just nerf anyone who is even moderate like SF4 did over time.

From what we can see, it's obvious that Capcom plans to have each character have a clear and defined strength so that newbies can learn how to counter those strategies easier. I really hope that all the beta nerfing is just to get people to try more characters and they will put them back to proper strength for the actual launch.

Also, this tutorial looks like it's in Alpha kek and I hope they get a new artist. They should have ties with Marvel/Disney or something to get one of their artists.

Its just the links anon otherwise its progressing in a good direction for a traditional SF game honestly. My only issues with it are
1. Capcom is removing shit tons of combo options which i pray they add the majority back in the release version because some characters have barely any combos to do for fun and some even lack BnBs are alot of unwarranted ranges.
2. I think they should revert to the E3/Beta 1 build in terms of the buffer window. It was +1 with a average link of 3 frames in those builds. Now its +3 and you can basically mash out combos. Atleast before you had to effectively double/tripe tap it just feels kinda sloppy imo.

Otherwise it looks good. In the Dhalsim build Ryu can st mp sweep again. Which isn't a optimal combo because of the lack of hard kd but sometimes its fun to just have fucking combo options for shits and giggles like pretty much every fighting game does.

My biggest fear is that characters won't be strong enough and the meta will evolve into SF4 but worse. If characters are weak in a game with no hard kd game the meta is going to be very matchup heavy and probably hard to outplay people compared to early SF games/other fighters.

Hell it might be harder then stuff in SF4. But honestly Bison seems strong , Karin will probably get toned but seems strong af , R.Mika seems super solid , Rashid seems alright.

The only issues are characters with crap hitboxes like Necalli , taking away too many combo options from the first characters outside of Bison and maybe Birdie and the phase 1 characters overall getting nerfed.

They need to unnerf Nash bad too what the fuck he got his v-trigger fucking slaughtered and lost combo options because no light links into TCs. The most he got was better dp.

I am very happy about the Alpha costumes and hope everyone gets theirs that's possible.

Ryu lost alot of combos especially with the removal of light links. Also until the current Dhalsim build he also lost combos like st mp sweep and shit that wasn't even a problem.

Basically its alot of the phase 1 characters that benefited alot from light links of some kind. Chun Li's v-trigger became even more mediocre without it and Necalli basically is missing some short range confirms just because all of his normals unless the Sim builds fixed them are still lacking hitboxes.

Honestly the phase 1 characters besides Bison/Birdie seem dull atm and i don't understand the removal of every light link and hope it doesn't remain that way. Its not like SF4 where you can score a hard kd into a ambiguous crossup. The push back also prevents alot of the same kinda pressure confirm fishing.

I don't think every single light link should return but some should. Maybe not double cr light but some st lights should link into things. Combos feel limited and unless you have a v-trigger based around it there is little need to experiment/do shit for fun.

I really hope they stick to it honestly. Look at a game like GG for example. Potemkin/Slayer are low tier Ramlethal too but shes kinda the exception to this point shes alittle assey. These two characters are considered ass but have some strong tools that can be cheap as fuck when applied correctly.

Potemkin Zato is a 7-3 yet outside of Ogawa i see FAB/Konsome beat people like Sako more often then not. Top tiers are still somewhat stronger but more beatable then top tiers in SF4 where a character like Elena counterpicks half the cast and low tiers are dull as dirty trash outside of maybe Hugo because of how hard his reads hurt.

Even mid tiers in SF4 feel weak compared to low tiers in GG/KOF in my experience. Cheap/strong tools are what make fighting games fun. When everyone to some degree even if some end up better then others can say WOW MY CHARACTER IS A CHEAP ASSHOLE!

My point also being its easier to make reads/comebacks with stronger tools even if your character is overall low tier. Half the cast in SF4 felt like their movesets were designed to be barely functional. Characters with solid sets of pokes are considered god tier footsies characters.

The only footsies character that is legitimately strong in USF4 imo is Elena mainly because of the lack of a hurtbox on that 3 frame jab that goes cr mk distance.

I just want a strong cast.

Honestly Karin seems so fucking strong i dunno how they'd fix that without making her triple S tier by default. She already has really solid 2 hit into stun resets as well as pretty fucking godlike normals if anything id say she has the best overall set of normals especially that cr/st mk set.

I feel like jab might end up being a way to check peoples offense and people are going to need to learn jab safe pressure to CH jab mashing so that you can do things on a player scared to press jab.

Its like how cr tech was used to check people in SF4 and throw in 3s. Both powerful tools but very counterable with the right pressure. I'm sure there has to be some sort of pressure. And who knows what the final versions framedata will look like.

Alot of the light into light combo options are solid like Ken's light light light light tatsu fierce dp does solid damage. But i feel like there should be more. As a Bison main i feel like Bison is one of the few that shouldn't have them. Birdie too. But characters like Ryu/Chun Li/Cammy for examples seem like they'd have some sort of double light medium confirm.

Honestly the games pushback on pressure/no hard kd setplay warrants a few more combo options in my opinion. And again i'm satisfied with my combo options as a Bison main although losing cr mk cr mp was alittle weird but as a Ryu sub i feel like he should have more fun.

I dunno why Bison lost cr mk cr mp honestly. Cr mk can special cancel now so maybe that is why. But you can still just link cr jab st lk lk sk off the cr mk so its like they took some fun and 20 dmg maybe.

The tutorial is shit and won't help anyone. You could learn basically all of it from looking at a button configuration.

SF is just too simple mechanically for this to be a good tutorial. They need tutorials for each character and their gameplan if they want a halfway effective tutorial system. Its like like KOF/Anime games where there are alot of semi/complex basic mechanics to master its super basic mechanically.

Its basically like telling someone who just started weight lifting how to walk up and put their hand around a dumbbell and pull upwards. It doesn't explain proper form or how to use machines properly its nothing.

SFV takes place in the future, the characters are supposed to get old. I liked what they did with the designs and Ken's "mid-life crisis" ponytail look. It added character.

The only characters that look the least changed are the ones of Asian decent, this was done deliberately. But sure, keep crying you shit-eating FAGGOTS.

Honestly i didn't mind the Ken redesign. Its just that the fucking hair needs some polish because it looks like plastic bananas and his face looks glazed for some reason.

I mean its not like there weren't going to be costumes anyway. Ken's Alpha design is largely considered his best looks wise so it was gonna get in eventually.

Its a shame Bison with a cape might return when there is no need. Duster Bison is hands down the best alt/default outfit Bison has ever had.

Those sprites are pretty good.

I always hoped Capcom would bring back some of the old forgotten characters.

But instead they're insistent on making "original" characters.

Capcom thinks all the old street fighter fans died or something. I'm not sure why they keep pretending like they don't already have a 70+ character roster.
