A lot of /v/ would be better if /vr/ was merge back with /v/, although I like /vr/ so that would kind of kill my fun. Mods also need to set their priorities straight, what was one of the reasons that killed /v/ culture was mods not setting their priorities straight and deleting at random with no rhyme or reason. They focus too much on off topic threads such as gamer fuel threads but on topic shitposting usually gets a pass as well as numerous twitter threads. Off topic isn't inherently a bad thing because it creates board identity and was why /v/ was so great back in the day because of how not policed it was. Everything else is in the community itself's hands.

Also when is /vr/ going to be allowed discussion on 6th gen? It's been more than 10 years since these consoles were released.

/v2/ is the best idea so far, it addresses the biggest divide that's between the users who want to actually discuss video games and the users who want to discuss stuff that's not quite video games but doesn't really belong anywhere else but /b/.

It's not even splitting /v/ by a "theme" that may or may not come and go like generals and Pokemon are.

If that fails, /v2/ could simply reduce the excess traffic for the individual boards while providing basically the same content.

The main problem on /v/ is that nobody knows what the fuck it's even supposed to be anymore, and that makes it incredibly hard to moderate. IMO the mods should be more proactive in removing threads devoted entirely to shitposting and should start throwing around short-term bans for chronic shitposters more often. Posting a copypasta intended solely to rile up console wars should be an instant 1-3 day ban.

I'm not saying we should have the mods go full /a/ (fuck those guys seriously) but tighter enforcement of "no shitposting" and IDs to negate samefagging would do wonders.

Also e-celeb bullshit should be sent to /vg/ unless the people and events actually have a tangible connection to games. I.e. a thread about Kojima joining another development house would be acceptable, a thread about PewDiePie getting glaucoma would not.

As a serious suggestion, I think a second /vr/ board would be nice. You get people trying to push the limits on /vr/ further to allow shit like PS2 and GBA, and I'm against that, but I do see why they would want that, since it's about as difficult to discuss those consoles on a board as fast as this as it is to discuss /vr/ games. I'm not sure exactly what the limits should be, but something that can discuss 6th and 7th Gen consoles would be nice without stepping over /vr/'s boundaries (remember the shitposting that happened when the Dreamcast got banned and then unbanned).

Split it into something like /vb/ for /v/ with banter, and /vc/ for civilized conversaton. However way you do it I think these concepts are a good idea for whoever wants to use either board

/vg/ was OK, but I fail to realize why /vp/ was necessary. I remember that at the time it was made the new pokemon games were coming out, and it was flooding /v/, but making a permanent board for it was the wrong choice. /vp/ is now basically /fur/:pokemon edition with ultra circlejerk. The time to delete /vp/ has now passed though since it's made a degenerate community that as soon as it's gone is going to flood /v/, and it is going to be absolutely horrible, even if they start their own general.
