Are you stupid? Unity is a full fledged engine that is almost as capable as Unreal. It just doesn't have the backing of Epic Games and Epic's lightning.

It's still a strong engine capable of accomplishing almost anything a modern game requires. That new RE game is being made in Unity
I believe Cities: Skyline was made in Unity too.

Hell, the game cam be RPG Maker for all I care. If it's good I'll play it.

The only time you should complain about a game engine is when it's being misused and considered obsolete yet is still being used - like Bethesda's GameBryo. That's the Morrowind engine and it wasn't that amazing even then. Yet FO4 uses a largely modified version of it.

A very good example would be Forced, it's a really fun co-op puzzle adventure game made in unity.
Sure, it might be slightly buggy at times, but it's nothing gamebreaking.

Overgrowth is a great example why everyone should use pre-made engines. The autist making Overgrowth is probably in the top five percent when it comes to skill and working ethic, but the workload for creating your own engine and tools is just way too much especially if you are making a 3D game. Please do not share your opinions about creating games on this site if you are this clueless.

it's because genres are just a marketing tool used to group games for commercial purposes and not reflective of the game type.

indie typically describes games made by small teams on a low budget who try something a little different than what's typically backed by publishers and for less than $20.
